Former Navy SEAL Jake Williams is the newly appointed head of a task force assigned to rescue a kidnapped American diplomat. Their only hope is Mya Amari, the daughter of a notorious Algerian hostage negotiator, but she is full of secrets and complications–something Jake takes as a personal challenge. As they grow closer, the threat to the mission escalates and time runs out for the hostages. … Can Jake unravel the web of deception to save them all without getting caught in the crossfire?
Mya Amari has been in hiding nearly her entire life to escape her father’s enemies. But when her sister is kidnapped along with an American diplomat, she’ll do anything to bring her home–including walking into the enemy’s lair. She doesn’t trust anyone, especially the too-handsome-for-his-own-good Commander Williams, but when all her careful plans explode out of control, he’s the only one she can turn to with the truth about her family. Is it too little, too late?

Good story with romance & the added element of war. Who to trust?
Wonderful author and great series. I was disappointed the 3rd book in the series is not yet available from bookbud.com
Great read and full of action and romance.
Action, a little romance, some surprises — a fun read.
One of those stories that draw you in. You wish that the author had been found earlier.
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time…keeps your attention from the start!
I really enjoyed the book! I’d read more by this author.
I don’t read this genre very often, so I’m struggling with this review. I gave it 4 stars because it held my attention and was fast paced. I don’t like talking politics and terrorist subjects, reading it was hard. I didn’t really connect with the characters either. There wasn’t a lot of depth in the main characters development. I would give it 3.5 stars. For those that enjoy this style of storyline, I would recommend giving it a try. I’m always intrigued with narrators ability to change character voices so quickly. This narrator did a good job at that.
I listened to the audio version of this book and it was fantastic!
Suspenseful, riveting and explosive story where friendships are tested and romance is under fire!
It is filled with twists, turns, and danger; the tension rises with every chapter.
Jake Williams former SEAL and now in national secutity is put as head of a task force to save a diplomat who has been kidnapped. Mya Amari the daughter of a hostage negotiator who has her own reasons for helping with this mission is also with him They and the team head off into dangerous country to complete the mission?? Will they return safely and will romance affect the mission?
(I listened to this as an audiobook)
Story 4.5 stars: I just finished listening and I feel like I just got back from a good action movie! Filled with feel-good moments, tense moments, chase scenes, secret hideouts and shoot-outs …all in the country of Algeria.
There are a few culturally educational moments about the food there, but since the characters were in hiding for most of the book, it’s not got a lot of info about the scenery (which is fine).
A good book! I have already recommended it to some friends. I’m also looking forward to getting more into the lives and background of the other characters in Griffin force in the next books in the series.
Narration (4.5 stars): the narrator did a very good job with the accents: I heard some subtle accents, some more pronounced, all seemed authentic-sounding!
Well-written and well-read!
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
Rating 4.5 stars
I will not summarize this story because it was already given in the description of this book. The purpose of this review was to give potential readers information to make an informed decision about reading/listening to this book.
What engaged me in this story:
• I liked Jake Williams. He was truly a good guy, which he demonstrated through his professionalism, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Sometimes he could be brusk. He made wise decisions. Part of his ex-navy seal persona.
• Mya is a hard character to like. She is hard-headed, stubborn, kind, and sometimes irrational. She is an emotional roller coaster. I found her annoying. Her emotions became smoother as the story progressed making her more likeable by the end.
• The romance between Mya and Jake was believable.
• There were many twists and turns to the plot. Lots of suspense, excitement, and action.
• There were many secondary players in this novel. They were varied, well developed, and interesting. They added depth to the storyline.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• The pacing of this story was good. It was not too fast nor too slow.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book. The author was a great writer.
• This was a clean read and I appreciated that.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters’ voices. He had a pleasant voice to listen to.
• Warning: Complicated plot with lots of facts and characters to keep straight. I took notes in the very beginning. But I like complicated.
I was given a free audiobook by the author. I also own the ebook. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening to or reading more books by this author. I will also keep a lookout for books narrated by Tristan Wright.
save yourself the trouble.
So-so to me, but could be a 5 for many others.
I don’t usually read military-based books, but i gave this one a try. I was rather disappointed by how fast the romance developed between the two characters, but due to the story line, I know why it was done. If you like this kind of romance, it wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t for me.
Characters were interesting and likeable. Great plot that wasn’t predictable
Couldn’t put it down!
Loved it!!
fun read
