Sawyer’s easy smile and laidback style mask his rough start. For the tall Texan the struggle just to survive has been real. Then in a fateful twist, life takes a new direction. Fame, fortune, and women all within his grasp. Though it’s the chance meeting with a beautiful stubborn girl that has him reaching.Bristol is the only daughter in a Memphis baseball dynasty. She couldn’t care less about … less about the sport or the attention she gets from its players. Her laser focus is on her medical practice. Until one dance with a handsome stranger.
Sometimes the things you want aren’t what you truly need.

5* All the Feels Stars
This was my first time reading about the Swift Family and I am so happy that I got to meet this wonderful loving family. The love this family has for each other is abundant and contagious.
From the first page read I fell in love with Bristol Swift and Sawyer Tom. I enjoyed reading how Sawyer, “ruffled Bristol’s feathers” in the beginning and how she tried so hard not to react to the instant chemistry that was felt between the two of them.
The story of Sawyer and Bristol is so much more than the two of them falling in love. Together they have to navigate and deal with the unexpected issues that present themselves. There were some very heartfelt moments as well as some laugh out loud moments too. The secondary characters were so adorable and loving.
I absolutely loved this book and it was well written and real. The cover is also gorgeous.
Bristol and Sawyer’s story was full of laughs and a few tears. I enjoyed catching-up with the Swift brothers and their awesome family. I did not want it to end, but I think the author did a good job wrapping-up the story and the series.
I loved Sawyer and Bristol’s story. It is a story of two people that shouldn’t be attracted to each other but they couldn’t resist. Is their chemistry enough to make it last forever and jump the hurdles they are facing. I loved how the whole Swift family was involved in this story. This is one series that is a must read. Highly Recommended!!!
This is the 3rd book about The Swift Siblings.
This story centers around Sawyer (a hot baseball player from Texas) and Bristol (a doctor whose family happens to own the team Sawyer plays on).
I love how we get to see all of the previous characters return for this one! Bristol’s family is a true southern family and I truly enjoy reading about them.
The chemistry between Sawyer and Bristol is evident from the get-go…it’s just a matter of when Sawyer will break through those walls Bristol has built up!
There are parts that fell a little short for me but overall I enjoyed this one.
Congrats on the soon-to-be release Leslie! I can’t wait for the next book to see what you have up your sleeve! <3
Ahhh, Sawyer and Bristol. Love this couple. Walls are broken, trust is built, feelings are flowing and everything is perfect. The whole Swift family is what I wish my family was like…all the good feels with open communication and honesty.
The third book in the Swift family series is as good as the first two. Here we have Sawyer Tom, a baseball player for the Memphis Mavericks and Bristol Swift, a doctor born into baseball royalty who has no love for the sport.
Their connection is scorching and although she fights it, Sawyer is not one to give up easily.
The story is made up of relatable characters whom anyone would be friends with. We see characters from the previous books, and this enhances the story so much, because we get to see where they have been, and the family dynamic is wonderful. That is the one theme throughout this series, the importance of family, and it is so prevalent here. From the way Sawyer grew up and how that shapes him and his decisions, to the way he treats a special someone he meets.
This story is full of laughter, love, drama, and so much heat. Another great story by Leslie Pike and a wonderful addition to the Swift family.
3.5 Stars
The Cannon is part of the Swift Series and focuses on Bristol (the sister of the family at the center of the series) and Sawyer, a baseball phenomenon playing for the team her family owns.
I enjoyed Sawyer and Bristol’s story. They are both interesting characters with back stories that have potential for creating issues/baggage. Seeing them interact and deal with those things was sweet.
As with all things from Ms Pike, the Cannon was well written and engaging. So why then is this only a 3.5 star read?
My first (and probably biggest) issue comes from the the fact that is the third book in the series. I somehow (and need to fix this) have missed the first two book in the series. Certain secondary characters are written as if we know the backstory and while it doesn’t detract from Bristol and Sawyer’s story, it was still there poking at me while I read.
The second piece for me was this didn’t seem to have the seamless flow to it that I expect from Ms Pike’s writing. The only thing I can put my finger on for why I feel this way was the introduction of a secondary character who seemed prominent to the story, but then seemed to fade away with no additional mentions. I don’t want to be a spoiler, so I won’t share more – you will have to read the book to find out!
Overall, this is an entertaining and fun/sweet read. I am curious about the other books in the series and can’t want to see what Ms Pike has for us next!
This is the first book I have read by Leslie Pike. It is a great read! I love the instant-chemistry between Bristol and Sawyer. Their chemistry is so hot that I wish they could have more of a build-up of trying to resist each other. My favorite part of this book is Bristol’s family. They are sweet, loving, and absolutely comical. I believe the extended family is what made this book so wonderful. This is an endearing story about how the family is who you love and accept and not those who have the same genetics. I also enjoy when a book gives you a sense of completion and the epilogue did just that.
I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
The Cannon by Leslie Pike takes us back into the Swift series and the character we have come to know and love. This time it is Bristol’s story. The only daughter in the family, she could care less about baseball, but one man is about to change all that.
I absolutely loved Sawyer and Bristol. Sawyer is a sexy and charming baseball player and Bristol is a doctor. When they meet, the chemistry is hot and steamy. But Bristol stays away from baseball players, though she may have met her match with Sawyer! He was one determined man! I loved watching them fall and following their journey.
I loved seeing all the previous characters and the entire family! The Cannon by Leslie Pike is not only a sports romance, but a story about family.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
The Cannon by Leslie Pike is a contemporary, sports romance told in first person, dual POV. Although it is book three in the Swift family series, it can be read as a standalone.
Sawyer Tom is the hot, new pitcher for the Memphis Mavericks. When he meets Bristol Swift at a team dinner/dance, he’s instantly smitten and determined to win her over. But having grown up in a family of baseball royalty, Bristol has no interest in the sport or its players. Despite her obvious reluctance, Sawyer is not deterred and it doesn’t take long before Bristol succumbs to his charms and their mutual attraction.
I loved Sawyer and Bristol’s story! As characters, they were well-developed and likeable. From Sawyer growing up in foster care and searching for his sister, to the boisterous Swift family welcoming him into the fold as one of their own, a major theme throughout the story is the importance of family. It beautifully illustrated that family is more than DNA, it’s made up those who love you regardless of blood relationship. Endearing, humorous, and very steamy – this is the first book I’ve read by the author and certainly won’t be the last.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
You know what I love best about this book, the series. I know that sounds strange, but give me a second LOL
I fell in love with this family when I read Brick’s story in the Cards of Love series (now titled The Closer). My love for this family still burns strong after reading Bristol’s journey to HEA.
This was an easy sweet romance that just warmed my heart. Everything from the chemistry between Bristol and Sawyer to the family’ energy and persistent love and support made for an easy afternoon read. This is probably a good time for me to tell you that because of the family dynamic, you’re going to run into situations in this book that may spoil Brick’s story and/or Atticus’s story soooooooo you should probably read the series from the start. It’s a great series so you can’t go wrong 🙂
So glad to be able to read all about the Swift family again. This third book is about the 3rd Swift sibling, Bristol. Bristol the doctor that wants nothing to do with baseball and it’s players. And then you have Sawyer the smooth talking Texan. Loved that all the Swift family were once again a big part of this book like the other two books in the series. Another book by Leslie that I couldn’t put down.
Sawyer Tom is the man of your dreams. He’s a true southern boy that has lines that will make you swoon for days. He’s also the pitcher for the Memphis Mavericks. None of that means his backstory is anything to dream about. It’s sad and heartbreaking. In walks in Bristol Swift, you may remember her if you read The Curve or The Cards of Love. She’s Brick and Atticus’ sister. She hates baseball and doesn’t want anything to do with it. Sawyer is not giving up to when it comes to her. As they start their story, they meet someone very special along the way who reminds Sawyer of himself as a child. When tragedy strikes will they all get to have the future they are all dreaming of or will it fall apart?
Bristol’s book is here! She has been the spitfire sister we have seen in the previous books about her brothers and we finally have her story. And then we have Sawyer, the sexy ball player with the Texan drawl that is so swoon worthy that we all will want to go find our own Sawyer! This is a story of this swoony ball player that knows what he wants and that is the spitfire sister of the Swift family. This story will make you laugh and maybe shed a tear or two because of the heartfelt nature of Sawyer’s story. I enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down once I started.
I love The Cannon so much I wish I could give more than 5 swoony stars!
Leslie Pike is incredibly talented and I truly love her work. Her words move me every single time. I didn’t want to put my kindle down yet I wanted to savor every word and take my time finishing. The best kind of experience that I felt mind, body and soul! I live for that feeling — and am hopelessly addicted. I cannot recommend this author and this series enough!
I have read and absolutely loved every book in the Swift family saga. This author takes sports romance to an entirely new level with her incredible attention to detail, absolutely flawless writing and amazing characters. From the very start I was enamored. The Swift clan is everything an imaginary yet relatable family should be. Inclusive, protective, caring, incredibly supportive, funny – I just adore every single family member. I want to be a Swift. There I said it!
Bristol is such an intriguing heroine. She is independent, tough, very focused and yet sadly closed off. She has these carefully constructed walls. Doesn’t give ball players the time of day. She even has this precise schedule and certain terms for seeing people. My inner control freak completely connected with this! However none of it stands a chance against all that is Sawyer Tom*sighs*. He too is independent because he has had to be, focused, determined and not afraid to go after what he wants. He is sexy and romantic. Insert all the swoons – seriously delectable! Together their chemistry is combustible (fans self) every aspect perfectly timed and executed.
What these two amazing characters find goes far beyond lust and love. Like with every couple in this series, their story is so much more. Enjoy the ride!
By far the best book of the series. This is Bristol, the Swift’s non baseball loving sister’s story. Of course she falls for the Brick’s latest sign, the phenom pitcher Sawyer. Sawyer has demons and she helps him thru them. He realizes that there is more to life than baseball. There is love and family. And through an unforseen tragedy, Sawyer lives that out. The epilogue is wonderful and the Thanksgiving table scene will make you cry. 4 stars due to some inconsistencies: Boone is a Jack Daniels man on one page and Jim Beam guy on the next; the name of a charachter on one page is Anwar and on another is Anwal. Little things but they make a reader do a double take. PS: the writer knows her country music and the references in all 3 books were spot on.
I’ve read books by this author before and I really like her style of writing and this is the third book in this series.
Book #1- The Curve
Book #2- The Closer
Book #3- The Cannon
This story is another great addition into this book series and is a beautiful read with love, drama and family. I really enjoyed reading this book and it is areal sweet and loving and heart warming quick read.
Bristol wants to focus on her career as a doctor and doesn’t want anything to disrupt this.
Sawyer is a sexy, laid back hot kind of man until he meets this woman who grabs his attention and doesn’t let go. He realize that no other woman matters and Sawyer is determined to make her his. The connection between them both is real and nothing is going to get in the way of this and everything starts to move very fast. Fate has written them both a new path, the question is will they both listen?
( NO SPOILERS ).
I really enjoyed reading this book series and I really do like they way that this author writes and her characters are like real people. The Swift family is so great that you really wish that they were your family, they are always so loving and supportive as its so great to see this.
I always love books that have epilogue as I feel like this always adds something extra special to the book and I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read a copy of this book.
This book is out now.
This book was so good! Sawyer is a hot ball player with a Texas drawl. Bristol is a doctor and wants absolutely nothing to do with ballplayers. Sawyer isn’t a man to give up on something he wants and he wants Bristol. A terrific story and I loved every single page of it.
Very Enjoyable, with Some Sweet Heat
I really love the Swift Family Series and found this book extremely enjoyable. Sawyer Tom is a sweet and charismatic baseball player that meets Bristol Swift a headstrong Pediatrician. Sawyer is determined to win her over with his sweet southern charm. This story is sweet and heartwarming. I love seeing the characters from the previous books and seeing what going on with them. I thought this book was cute and sexy and I really enjoyed it.
I loved the Swift family after the first two books in this series, and I didn’t think it was possible to love them more, but after reading this one I do! The story is full of down to earth yet complex characters. Bristol is fiercely independent and stubborn and the perfect match for Sawyer. Sawyer is finally living a dream after a rough upbringing in foster care, but that hasn’t jaded his heart. His unique circumstances have left him wanting to give back to others and he fits in perfectly with the Swift family. The story will make you both laugh and cry and tug on your heartstrings more than once on Bristol and Sawyer’s journey to their HEA.
