Leah Kettridge’s writing career is over before the first book lands on the shelf, when a famous author has claimed she’s stolen his work. If it wasn’t for a story brainstorming luncheon with her sister, he’d have never overheard her conversation about the novel she was writing. Who will she ever trust again if not her most favorite writer? And what about the one fabulous date they had before she … she knew what a traitor he was?
Keenan Brinner has it all. He’s a best-selling author who’s only headed toward more greatness. And he must be the most gorgeous guy Leah’s ever seen. But he’s also a liar and a cheat.
When they end up at the same cabin to write, emotions explode. But an unexpected snowstorm traps them deep in the mountains. Is he bent on destroying her in more ways than one? How will love find them amidst all their anger and distrust?

When unexpected betrayal enters her life, Leah considers giving up her passion. Once deciding to continue her pursuit of writing, she ventures to a what she thinks is a secluded cabin in the woods of scenic Vermont. Shocked and bewildered at what she finds, Leah is filled with questions, wonder and a bit of fear. The proposed writing retreat turns into fear of the unknown as soon as she arrives in town. The mystery quickly escalates when she learns the identity of another person staying in the cabin, especially since she thought she would be alone on this retreat.
The first page of the story drew me in and I found myself holding my breath waiting to learn the next event. Author Erin Unger provides great descriptions that made me feel like I was right there in the cabin. The mystery and intrigue and possibility of romance in the story make for a great read. I received a complimentary copy of this book by Celebrate Lit and author Erin Unger. No review was required.
If you have a problem with someone can you imagine your worst nightmare of being stranded with that person? Well you are about to embark on that journey as you turn the first pages of this book.
What an imagination this author has, and while at this cabin stranded, you begin to wonder of either of these characters will survive to the end?
How will they tolerate each other, and the lengths Leah goes to avoid or get away from Keenan, and she keeps getting hurt!
Talk about eaves dropping? Concept, yes, but what a coincidence. Just keep reading here, you will never see all that is coming!

The Cabin is a Christian romance by Erin Unger. It was a pleasure to read something by this new to me author. The story is a little bit different than I am used to, which is very refreshing. Leah, a struggling writer finds herself accused of plagiarism by a famous author, Keenan. As Leah goes to a secluded cabin she rents and finds out Keenan, too, has rented the same cabin. They are then trapped in the cabin – together!
I thought The Cabin was definitely worth a read. It is a short story with an element of mystery. I had no issue having it read in a few hours. I was intrigued to see how Lean and Keenan would be able to cope to be stuck together. Though it was some what predictable, it was still fun to find out what would happen.
I am giving The Cabin four stars. I believe many readers would enjoy this one. It is definitely wroth a read.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
The cabin
This was a fun book. Leah thinks she is getting away by herself but doesn’t happen that way. She goes to a cabin really out in the country. Keenan shows up. He is a best selling author who she has connections with.
He was not happy to find her at the cabin but has to accept it for the time being. When they get snow in will they be able to get along?
Most of the books I read are a lot longer than this one. It had a complete story. Very enjoyable one. Sometimes it is nice to read a short story. This was my first book by the author and loved her writing.

A most enjoyable short novel that finds our characters in the most fascinating situation. Fancy renting a vacation cabin sight unseen, only to find the former renter, Keenan still there, with no intention of leaving. Add in the most incredible snow storm that is prone to happen in the mountains, and you have tension in everything. Besides that, Leah is sure that her unpublished novel has been stolen by this man she is sharing the cabin with. Can they get along well enough to not kill each other before the snow melts? Is it possible that the Lord orchestrated this mixup in order to teach a lesson?

The Cabin is a fairly short and quick to read novel with a unique premise. The story opens with Leah Kettridge discovering that best-selling author Keenan Brinner’s latest novel is essentially the same novel she has just submitted for publication. Obviously, everyone assumes that Leah must be the plagiarizer. When she arrives at the isolated cabin she has rented for a week of writing, her worst nightmare meets her. Keenan occupies the cabin and refuses to leave and that is not the end of her troubles!
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot that moved along at a steady pace with several interesting twists that were inserted at just the right moments. It was actually fun to observe how Leah and Kennan’s relationship progressed over several days from antagonists to friends despite a few bumps along the road. The Cabin is not an overtly Christian novel but it does contain a subtle message of faith. The shorter length of this book makes it a perfect take-along for a trip to the beach or a lazy summer weekend.

The story is short and maybe needed to have more depth . The characters were not easy to relate to and kinda irritated me. I couldn’t understand how a person rents out a place not knowing someone was already there. The plot is somewhat clunky and predictable. Leah goes to the cabin to get away and hopefully write and try to forget about Keenan. It isn’t easy to forget that someone not only stole your story, but then accuses you of plagiarism.
Keenan is a best selling author and the last person he wants to see is Leah. Being stuck in the cabin with her did lead to some interesting conversations. There are some good parts in the story where they each start to open up to each other and let their guard down. I’m still confused how they both wrote basically the same story . I didn’t find much of a faith element in the book and that disappointed me.
Overall it is more of a relationship gone astray because of a misunderstanding. Getting trapped in a cabin together brings them to face each other and work out their differences. The ending seemed rushed and felt like parts of the story had been left out.

My Thoughts:
First, this cover is gorgeous. I fell in love which means I had to read the book. Anyone else like this? A sucker for a great cover? I’m so thankful that most of the time the book lives up to the cover.
Second. The author is named Erin. This is my name. Thus, anything by the said person must be good right? I mean Erin is such a gorgeous name it stands to reason that having such a name means you’re an awesome and amazing writer.
But really, this was an intriguing story. I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t so fast paced or enthralling/captivating that I couldn’t set the book down, but I did want to finish it. I pretty much knew what the outcome was going to be after the first few chapters but there were some fun little twists thrown in there that I found cute.
Definitely a good author. I’ll be watching to see what else she writes in the future. I can relate to the main character as I have had some of my own original ideas “stolen”. For me, it wasn’t a big deal but for an entire book to be taken would be huge!
I give this a four out of five. Characters were well developed. I loved being stuck in a cabin without power. Maybe I’m weird but my dream is to actually be self-sufficient and off-grid so I would take that as a wonderful challenge.
So, give this a read. You’ll like it. It wouldn’t be one I’d keep on my shelf to read over and over, but really I don’t find many of those anymore. Nothing really compares to Anne of Green Gables in my world. Also, my other scoring system is whether I would let my teenage daughter read it. For now, that would be a no. Not due to any language or anything, but just because I don’t think it’s one that I would be pushing her to read. It doesn’t have any huge teachable moments to me and isn’t overtly Christian.
In conclusion, a good read, awesome name of an author, not a suspenseful keep you reading type book, but a nice romance. Four out of five stars but not recommended for teenagers/young minds. Good lose yourself for a while read in the middle of a thunderstorm at night though.
