Creepy but compelling.
This book kept me turning the pages as the true horror of the butterfly garden was revealed thru the eyes of one of the victims. Will read this author again!
This book hooked me right away and dug it’s claws in and never let go. I still think about this book and how twisted and good it is!!!
This is a deeply disturbing very dark insight into a criminal who is animalistic.
No one under 21 should read this, and only adults who can handle it. Again this is not my cup of tea and I will pass on the next on. However to be fair it is a well written engaging book that will suck you into the mind of a very deranged killer.
This book was pleasantly disturbing and twisted. A deranged original work of art much like Silence Of The Lambs. In the warped mind of the “Gardner” he views his butterflies as nothing more than beautiful objects that he collects and preserves. But these women didn’t ask to be plucked from the outside world and kept in The Butterfly Garden. Will these beauties be able to break free of this phsyphopath and spread their wings and fly? Maya is a fierce independent and strong woman. When she awakes to finds herself trapped in this horrorific nightmare she persistantly tries to find a way out. This phsychological thriller will keep you up turning page after page and will haunt you long after you finish reading it.
Somewhat entertaining.
Great read. Waiting for the final in the trilogy.
An extremely well written novel with interesting, well rounded characters.
I enjoyed this book. I received it as an ARC and it was one that was fast paced and kept me interested in the story.
This is another new favorite of mine! I could not stop listening to it. The story kept my mind engaged and curious throughout the whole book! Just when you think you had a hold on what was going to happen, it changes on you. Of course, sometimes the hints towards something did give away something here or there, but it was never in an obvious way. Do you know what I mean? Like her hints were small enough that I thought I knew, but until it got confirmation I was not sure.
Man, and her descriptions were something else. They drew me and sent my mind wild with the images that she was painting. Here are a couple of examples, though they are not the best examples, they are still great.
“You have to understand, I didn’t give him that name out of fear or reverence, or some misguided sense of propriety. I didn’t give him that name at all. Like anything else in that place, it was made up out of the whole cloth of our ignorance. What wasn’t known was created, what wasn’t created eventually ceased to matter.”

“She handed me a piece of silky, black something that proved to be a slinky, knee-length dress that came high around the neck and low on the back. Really low. If I’d had dimples on my ass, she’d been seeing them. She helped me tie the ropy sash around my hips, then gave me a gentle push toward the doorway.”

Anyway, I have really enjoyed this book and will be reading other stories from this author.
I can’t even figure out where to start. I really can’t tell you anything about this book. Everything I want to say could be a spoiler. This is one of those books that every detail is an intricate piece to the coming together of this f*cked up story!
But boy… did I love this book. I swoon over the extremely dark and twisted. I found myself salivating for more. More dark. More demented.
This story is told in the perfect way. It goes from present to past, leading up to the present. The story-telling itself gave it the WOW factor. Had it been told in any other way, it would not have been so phenomenal.
I will tell you that there will be many that don’t like it. They won’t like it based on one thing. The girls. Because they are all under the age of eighteen, people are going to be whiny and over-sensitive. But, that’s the point to this story. This dude is beyond messed up in the head. He is sick. So, yes, his sickness is kidnapping teenage girls for his garden. If you can’t move past that one simple thing, then don’t bother with this book. This type of fiction isn’t for you.
I am just going to fill this review with nothing but praise. I have nothing else to say about it. It fed in inner-monster in me. It was just what I was looking for in a book. I can promise you that I will never swoon over a book like I did with this one again. Okay, I will swoon over other books. However, the type of swoon is always different. So, if I were you, find a nice dark corner and dive into this book!
