As the Great Scala, Myla Lewis is the only being who can move Purgatory’s souls to Heaven or Hell. It’s a big job. Too bad Myla goes through assistants faster than a hot knife through brownies. Not that it bothers her much; Myla’s always been a solo fighter. Then comes the problem of the fading angels. Millions of Heavenly residents are dying. According to a prophecy, the only way Myla can save … can save them is by traveling back in time, meeting King Arthur, and creating her own knights of the round table. The catch? Doing so might end the after-realms in a bloody demonpocalypse.
Yipes.
Myla and her main squeeze, Lincoln, aren’t afraid of taking a few chances (in between kisses). But with so much at risk, the stakes may be too high, even for them. And the biggest challenge of all? Finding those knights.
Because Myla Lewis doesn’t play well with others. At all.

The Brutal Time takes me back into my favorite world of Angelbound with Myla and Lincoln my favorite couple of all time. I love these two together. I love seeing them spend time together and them working together to save people. Every time I lay eyes on a new book from the Angelbound world that I have not read I can feel my happiness meter go way up.
In The Brutal Time the heavenly angels are dying and Myla is their only hope for survival. As the prophecy goes she is the only one who can save them and hopefully at the same time save the underworld from a demonpocalypse.
To stop the demonpocalypse and save the angels Myla must travel back in time to King Arthur’s time. Once she is there Myla must meet King Arthur and then create her own knights of the round table.
Myla and Lincoln become separated after they travel back in time and she has no idea where he is or if he is safe. Myla will do whatever it takes to find the love of her life while at the same time create her own Knights. She must work hard and fast before time runs out.
Myla is a sparky bada** spunky chic who kicks a** and takes names after the fact. Myla is a quasi-demon with a tail that has a mind of its own. Gotta respect the tail! Ooh Love it! The Angelbound world is one that I totally love and never want to see end ever. I love the characters, the world building, and the demons.
Christina Bauer is one brilliant amazing author. I can only imagine what goes on in her head with all the stories and characters running around in there and wanting to get out and speak to the world, to us.
Each and every book just seems to get better and better leaving me wanting more from the Angelbound world. I can’t wait to read more from this world. The Angelbound world and its characters will stay with me forever. I think about the characters and the Angelbound world’s long after I have read the last page. When I’m reading it I can’t turn the pages fast enough to reach the end but once I reach the end I am like no that can’t be all of it as I don’t want it to end I want it to continue forever.
Would I recommend The Brutal Time? You bet I do! If you like angels and demons with a kick a** and take names later kind of girl whose husband is so hot he will make your tongue come out slap your brains right out of your head then this is the book for you. One click yourself a copy today!
Myla is back and she is kicking butt and this adventure brings out something different in her. . .
The best part of this was that we got to see Myla and Lincoln again, in action and not in action. We see Myla work to be a part of something not so solo, aside from Lincoln. He doesn’t count because he means the world to her.
Myla finds that she can’t keep working the way she do when the Heavenly host are dying at such a rapid rate. She needs help. She need reinforcements. She needs to step back in time. How will she gather those needed to do the job she does when she does not quite play well with others? This and so much more was answered in the action packed time traveling adventure that Myla and Lincoln find themselves taking to make sure that Myla is the kick-azz, Purgatory soul mover, the Great Scala.
There was no doubt walking in that this was going to be a page turner. I have loved everyone of the books in this captivating series. There’s so much to fall in love with the characters, the scenes, the world building, the descriptions that give you such a vivid picture you can’t help but to play them over and over in you mind.
The Brutal Time takes you on a fab adventure and gives you another side of Myla. We find out new things about her we did not see or may have guessed about her.
I spent a lot of time talking here about Myla. Well, sorry-not-sorry. Lincoln plays a role here also and you will see him and his thoughts but this will always for me be Myla’s show.
Loved. Loved. Loved.
I really enjoy this series and in this book Myla really starts to grow into her roll as queen and Scala. There are a few twists to the story of Camelot and the knights of the round table, as well as some interesting moments from Lincoln’s point of view. Lots of action and of course magic make this an excellent addition to the series. Where can I get my own Captain Fluffbottom?
Poor Myla. She’s finally ready to ask for some help with all of her work and doing so creates a whole other chain of events and issues that could lead to the end of all things – so of course that means she has to save the world… again!
I love this world, this series and these characters. The snark, the romance, the adventure – just so much fun!
If you enjoy anything related to this genre, you’re in for a treat!
The Brutal Time captured my attention when I read the blurb. I was intrigued to see how the author would spin the legend of King Arthur and Camelot. Then I read that memorable first line and thought to myself, “I am going to love this book.” And guess what, I did.
The Brutal Time is the 6th book in the Angelbound Series. I was a little hesitant to read the book because of that. I am happy to say is that this can be read as a stand-alone book. The author explained Myla and Lincoln’s backstories without getting into the previous books, which I enjoyed. That left me able to focus on the craziness that was going on in this book. And yes, there was a lot of that.
I loved Myla. She was unbelievably snarky and found herself in situations that made me scratch my head. Take, for instance, going to Lucifer’s lab. That set off a chain of events that ended up with her going to the past to save the future (make sense…it didn’t to me at first either). She thought well on her feet too. She was able to come up with last-minute plans that worked. She was just plain awesome!!
I liked that Lincoln was more leveled headed than Myla. He was able to reign her in, well somewhat reign her in. During the fight with the archdemons, Lincoln was willing to do whatever it took to stall them so Myla could come up with a plan. Plus, add in that he was head over heels in love with Myla, and it just made him a complete package.
I loved the author’s retelling of the King Arthur legend. I had no issue imagining King Arthur as a slob. It also made me remember that most myths are usually more fiction than fact.
The storylines in The Brutal Time were well written and fast-paced. There were no dropped storylines or dropped characters. I enjoyed how the author was able to merge the secondary storylines with the main one. It made for a more exciting read.
I loved the secondary characters. They added an extra depth to the story. I also like that Myla’s tail got recognition in the book. That tail was as sassy as she was!!
The end of The Brutal Time was exciting. I say exciting because there was something revealed that made me look forward to the next book!!
