I Highly Recommend this series by one of my favorite authors. It is different than your normal Regency romance, but I love to read about new situations and I love happy endings.
I recently read/listened to the first three books in this series which I had requested from the author and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of these stories.
Each book tells a very different kind of love story about 3 men who struggle to survive as they have been turned into vampires and really do not want to succumb to that way of life. It’s official! I’m now a total fan of this genre.
Book 1: Lost to the Night
This was a super love story telling about an unfortunate man, Alexander, who is struggling with being a vampire but who is trying desperately to not drink blood from a live person. He really is not happy with his enforced existence.
When he and Evelyn meet they both sense that there is something different between them and they explore their relationship and learn to trust each other.
The story is very different from what I expected to read about or listen to and I was very pleasantly surprised. It is written by Adele Clee in her normal manner, with lots of twists and turns, a great deal of romance which becomes hotter and hotter as the book progresses. Of course there is a villain and the couple also have very supportive family and friends.
Book 2: Slave to the Night
Grace, even though she was married once before she met up with Elliot, is a totally innocent young lady who found herself in a loveless marriage and hated every moment of it. Oh, she’s had sex with her husband but it was totally the ‘lets get it over with…’ kind.
Then along comes Elliot and sweeps her off her feet. He is loving and caring and this is so not him that he feels confused and bewildered about the changes he perceives in himself.
There is the mystery to be solved of what has happened to to Caroline, Grace’s sister.
I loved the whole concept of a vampire’s struggle to not be one, the support and help from close friends, the utter selfishness of a family member and the way the story flowed so effortlessly and kept me engrossed.
Book 3: Abandoned to the Night
This is a very cleverly written story full of twists and turns and major surprises.
I loved it – from the opening paragraph to the very last one.
We meet up with all three ‘brothers’ and their spouses or partners and it is an adventure to beat all.
Adele Clee has once again written 3 most enjoyable and entertaining page turners with a difference and Kylie Stewart, the very competent and talented audiobook narrator has done a remarkable job of bringing these stories to life in the audiobook version. These two make a great pair – Kudu’s to both for jobs well done!
I am extremely happy to recommend all the stories in this boxset of The Brotherhood series as they read easily and keep one entertained.
