The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler’s armies attack Russia and begin … their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.
Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana — and she to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander’s impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects — a secret as devastating as the war itself — as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever.

This series is one of my few 10-star, absolute must-read series. Another one I recommend to every single person I come into contact with.
I thought The Bronze Horseman was one of the best books I have ever read in my entire life!!! It has non-stop drama and a book I couldn’t put down even if I tried. I feel in love with Tatiana and Alexander. I would highly recommend this book!!!!!!
(Update)
Okay so I just finished reading the third book in the trilogy, which was just as amazing, …
Holy smokes, this book tore me up. This is an epic historical romance set in WWII Russia. If you read it, make sure you have the sequel, Tatiana and Alexander, at the ready. Trust me, you’ll want to dive right in!
Drew me in and held my interest. I recommend.
Loved the book in general, too much detail about the sexual side of the relationship. The main character is heroic to say the least. Hated the ending but knew i would about halfway through the book. Still couldn’t put it down.
All my loves are now based on Alexander! this is the romance novel of the century!
Although most of the book was wonderful, page, after page, after page of descriptive love scenes was a bit much.
Love this book. If you like a romantic historical novel this is it. A little long and sometimes repetitious but still a great book.
One of the best books (collectively) I’ve ever read. I cried, I laughed, I was shocked, I was horrified.
This story is a roller coaster of emotions. It is set in WW2 .Germany is invading Russia.
Love at first sight…. Alexander and Tatiana’s story is a complicated one. Well worth reading! There are some characters that you will want to erase but they’re needed to tell this heartbreaking tale.
This is the first of three books.
A bit long and redundant. Sex scenes way too graphic. Not necessary to story.
A little too long. Goes through a slow period where you want it to move on. Overall interesting and keeps your attention.
An amazing book. I loved it.
This was a great story but I the book could have been better if the writer didn’t keep going back over what had already been written. This made the book drag on and on when it could have been much more interesting for me if it were a little more concise.
Loved it! Historically relevant.
The story is wonderful to read with the same haunting quality as Dr. Zhivago. The history of Russia during WWII is told with depth and understanding and the characters are unforgettable.
Loved this book. Hard to put down with lots of twisty action! The end left me sad!
Fabulous!
I enjoyed it very much
Is a very good book, but did have to skip through the sex, just went on and on and on to the point of ridiculousness! The story line did keep me interested to the end!
