The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler’s armies attack Russia and begin … their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.
Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana — and she to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander’s impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects — a secret as devastating as the war itself — as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever.

Really liked the first half. After that there were too many chapters that went on endlessly about their love-making. Less is more! Got good at the end though.
I really enjoyed getting first hand insight into East German life. History comes alive with the family story revealing so much of what hard working people had to deal with. It gives me a renewed
I found this book to be just as entertaining as Outlander. Magical and historical!
Everyone should read this trilogy! Incomparable love story set in the turbulence of Russia
I loved this book. Great characters. I really enjoy an author who can pull you right into a time and place.
Highly recommend. Great story building. Good description of Russia during the War with Germany.
Wow! I couldn’t put it down. It was full of history not taught in schools.
One of the best books I’ve read in awhile. It moved me emotionally, kept me wanting to read more. I highly recommend this book!!!
Read. This. Book.

There have been a lot that I have really liked, some that were great, but this, The …
I read this book because it was compared to Outlander. Those usually never turn out, but this one did. It was such a strong story.
The most beautiful gut-wrenching love story I have ever read. There is no better romance than The Bronze Horseman.
