Something happened to Kylie McKinley during her freshman year in college. Something no one knows about. The thing is: she can’t remember it fully, so what could she possibly have to say about it? Why, then, does it keep screwing with her head so much? When another, far braver girl than she comes forward with a story that is eerily similar to Kylie’s own, she begins to see she can’t keep silent … forever. Bolstered by this girl, Kylie finally finds the necessary strength after two years of indecision to do something about it. But will it be enough to finally end the silence that has almost broken her?
Then she realizes exactly whom her accusations will pit her against.
Tristan Tamasy has long term plans to be the next head of the Tamasy legacy. Tristan is smart, focused, cultured, and ready to expand their family’s corporation. Tristan is nothing like his younger brother, whose antics have lately started disrupting everything. Now, Tristan has been commissioned for damage control after two girls start making noise against his brother. That’s when he meets Kylie McKinley. From the start, she challenges the road he has chosen for his life. After he starts to realize she might be telling the truth about his brother, his integrity to do what is right conflicts with his loyalty to the family he’s been groomed to protect. It tests everything he believes about himself and threatens to squelch the feelings he has for the one woman he should never want.

This book, Kylie’s story, ripped my heart to pieces. A young, bright college freshman is nearly destroyed by a shameful secret that she never should have kept hidden for years. Once it’s brought to light, her world explodes. I struggled tremendously with this book; it is so devastatingly raw and intense that I had to put it down several times just to process the events and consequences that both Kylie and Tristan must face and endure.
Ms. Davis brings her characters to such deep dimensional life that you feel as if you know these people personally. Kylie is self-aware yet self-loathing, with the weight of the rape on her shoulders, in complete denial that she’s blameless for the assault. She blames herself for the actions of a spoiled, entitled, angry young man. Feelings of worthlessness and self-doubt leave her vulnerable for others’ manipulations. When Tristan is charged by his Grandfather to ‘neutralize’ Kylie, he finds a young woman who is straight-forward, guileless, and wholy forgiving of everyone but herself. Tristan is 30 years old and has never had a relationship outside of his family, yet once he meets Kylie, he realizes that she is everything he never knew he wanted or needed. Tristan is the catalyst for Kylie’s healing, yet she is his strength and courage in the face of mislead family loyalties and recriminations.
I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this amazing book, and to see some resolution to Kylie’s abandonment issues with the inclusion of her long-missing father, Micah. I’m glad that there was no easy end to their relationship, as in the real world, we know that simply apologys and excuses never mend the hurt and betrayal caused by the ones we love the most!
oh my love Kylie adn Tristan so much … i love this book so much i think it one of my fave in the series .. you can feel the emotion thru out the book ,,, Love how Kylie is a strong character … its a must read book hury and get this book you wont regret it
This is the story of Kylie. Kylie’s dad left her sister, mom and her when she was really young to avoid going to prison for embezzlement. Kylie has had issues since then, but has never really been able to articulate them to anyone – not for lack of trying on her mother’s part. She goes to college and goes a little wild with her new found freedom. She is has trouble articulating her thoughts and feelings, but found with alcohol, she talks. So she drinks and has sex – no more than many guys, but she gets called names. She wakes up not remembering anything after a frat party, but she knows that she had sex, and it was not consensual, but because of how she feels about herself from others calling her a slut, whore, etc, she tells no one and does not report it. She sees a post of someone in a similar situation, and responds that it happened to her as well. Now we meet Tristan who is tasked by his grandfather to take care of this before it ruins the family business and name. Tristan meets Kylie when she is his waitress, and is surprised that she is nothing like he expected. He is drawn and attracted to her from the start, but lies about his name. They become involved. Kylie show Tristan what love and family are all about, and Tristan becomes her rock and makes her a stronger person who can speak and stand up for herself. Will he listen to his grandfather and save his brother and family name, or will he stay true to his love, Kylie? You will need to read this to see. This book was amazing to me…I am loving this series, even though I started in it late. I know that I will have to read the ones I have missed at some point. Looking forward to Ally’s story next though. Leanne Davis has not disappointed me yet.
Another great book. This one starts with a unknown story of what happened to Kylie in her freshman year of college. Not being able to remember but things haunting her , gives her low self esteem and makes life tough. Broken is a great title because that how she feels. The story line shows both sides and also the guy in this story having tough decisions to make going forward. Being brought up a certain way has been a true test of how this story will end up. Its a great story and a lot of emotions went into to this book for sure a great book to read.
Such a great book absolutely loved it. It had you feeling so many different emotions throughout the book that had you hooked till the very end. It was Soo amazing
The Broken Sister is another wonderful book in, The Sister Series. It was a fairly easy read. I wish I would of read the 4th and 5th books in this series. It would of helped me better understand the part dealing with Kylie’s father, Micah better.
The Broken Sister is Kylie McKinley’s story, Tracy’s daughter. In the story Kylie had been raped at a college frat party and has no memory of it. She feels that she is at fault. It doesn’t help being called crude names by her peers and put down. She believes this because of her lack of self-esteem and the anguish she has experienced through out her life. Kylie learns through a social media site, that another girl at her college was raped by the same guy, Tommy Tamsay. When she leaves an anonymous msg as a reply to the victim.
The Tamsay family get involved. His brother, Tristan is sent to cleanup his little brothers mess. When Tristan meets Kylie, he has a hard time picturing the kind, compassionate, genuine girl is out for vengeance. The more time he spends with her and gets to know her, he falls for her. Kylie doesn’t trust easy, she finds that Tristan is someone easy to talk to, trustworthy and accepting. Little does she know the secrets he hides may break her and leave questioning so much more.
This story is beautifully written. I did tear up at some parts. I was saddened that Tristan’s brother, Tommy didn’t get what he deserved. I was proud that Kylie stood up for herself. Tristan and the rest oofher family backed her up and supported her completely. I did love that in the end Tristan put Kylie first. He was happily starting over with nothing as long as she by his side.
If you’ve read any books in this series, this is a must read. I recommend reading the books in order. They can be a little confusing read as stand alones.
Be prepared to be sucked in. This was hard for me to put down. Man, this is hard hitting. The journey Kylie has to take and then you add in Tristan. I love how this series is well written and gives the good with the bad. I love this series.
This book is full of angsty, sorrow-filled, drama. I felt such sympathy for Kylie as she takes on her sketchy memories, and a very powerful family. Her pain is real and raw, relatable, recognizable. well written developed characters. Recommended.
Everytime Leanne gets me with her books. This series touches some many topics that need to be read about. Kylie is broken from her dad leaving and spirals out of control. Tristan seeks to expose Kylie as a liar to save his brother but slowly realizes his brother is a monster and falls in love with Kylie. Together they helo each other heal.
Woah, this book is full of emotion, a deep view of what happens when you can’t fully remember a tragic event until later but how deep it scares you. Ready to confront her past and the person responsible Kylie finds herself pitted against the Tamasy legacy. Tristan find his family loyalty wavering when he meets Kylie his brothers accuser. Will he chose right over wrong and Kylie over family? An emotional read, that touches the heart
Kylie McKinley was so happy to finally leave her hometown and head to college and get freedom. Yet one night everything changes for her and soon she finds herself falling apart and with less self-esteem than ever before.
Tristan Tamasy works for his family’s company and has always done what is expected of him by his grandfather. When his brother, Tommy, is accused of raping some girls at college, it is up to Tristan to fix the mess.
Yet when Tristan meets Kylie she is nothing like he imagined she would be. She has a trust in homeless people yet is uneasy around others. She also has a past that he is not expecting to learn about and sees why there is so much hurt around her past and the events surrounding her father, Micah.
But Tristan has a job to do and is he willing to do whatever it takes to protect his family?
This is another great book in the series and tackles some more difficult subjects.
I felt so bad for Kylie in what she went through with Tommy and I believed her that she had no idea what happened and I truly hate how some people just seem to be able to get away with everything because of their money and status. I felt Kylie was already suffering due to the events of the past within her family that she never had resolution with.
So I was torn with Tristan initially as I wasn’t happy with what he was doing with Kylie but I knew that he became really torn once he got to know her. I knew he really cared about her but I was still freaking a little as I didn’t know what he was going to choose in the end. Yet I knew by hiding who he really was things were bound to explode.
I really liked how Kylie helped people she came across on the streets and how she viewed them so differently than Tristan. Kylie had been hurt by people of “good” stature so for her she had no problem trusting those with less than her. I liked how she opened Tristan’s eyes a little with that although her trust of others drove him crazy.
I liked how Tristan tried to help Kylie with getting answers from her past but I hated what it did to her family and the conflict it caused between her and her sister Ally.
The scene in the hospital was huge and I was so worried about Kylie and what she possibly might do. I was glad that Tristan called Ally for her to help Kylie and that helped mend their relationship.
I was so happy at the end that Tristan made the choice that he did but I was shocked that his grandfather did what he did.
Looking forward to the next book!!
Another great book by Leanne Davis. My heart ached for Kylie and what she went through. At the beginning I didn’t know what to think about her character however I came to realize that she is a beautiful soul inside and out. Tristan has a tough decision to make because his family values have been ingrained into him from birth. Beautiful story and wonderful characters. Definitely recommended.
Before starting this book, be prepared to have a hard time putting it down. Once the story starts the reader will be hooked, waiting for the bombshell revelation of who Tristan is in relationship to someone from Kylie’s past and how she will deal with this revelation. A well written story line and plot with well developed characters make this book an enjoyable read.
This is book 6 is this amazing series each book is standalone but each is about different characters and where they are this one is about kylie the youngest we learned about her dad in the last book and struggled with issues those issues caught up to her. Than she meets Tristan he’s perfect and she’s finally moving on and happy until she discovers his secret! I can’t wait to read ally’s story!
Enjoyed Kylie’s story. Kylie caught my attention in the previous story. Can’t wait to see what Ally’s hiding in the next book.
I had been wondering what was going on with Kylie while I was reading Olivia’s story. To hear what happened explained so much and made me so sad. It’s a sensitive subject to read about but so well wrote . Like always with Leanne. She can write about all these issues and do so beautifully
What a Book! Tissues will be needed for this one, lots of them. Kylie was raped two years ago in her freshman year at college and just found out about another young woman raped by the same guy as her. Kylie leave an anonymous message encouraging her on a rape message board and the grandfather of the rapist sends his grandson, Tristan, in to “neutralize” Kylie. But Tristan is totally taken with her and he doesn’t know what to do. We have a scum rapist, nasty interfering grandfather, 2 rape victims, and love.
One of things I love most about this author and this series is the depth of emotion given to the characters. I love the insight into how someone would/could handle what they have been through. I could feel the confusion of Kylie and her reaction to what she had been through. The self blame, etc…. I cannot get enough of Ms.Davis’ writing!
Another emotional powerhouse story in the Sister series. The young sisters we met in The Wrong Sister are now in college and we get to see the outcome of the damage their father did to them.
First up is Kylie McKinley who was the youngest. When her father embezzled and stole money and decided to run out on his family to avoid prison, this broke something in 10 year old Kylie. From that moment on she emotionally shut down and never shared her true feeling with anyone for fear they would leave her like her father did. Now 10 years later her years of using sex as a coping mechanism has her hiding the worse secret yet – her rape.
Kylie only thinks of herself in the negative. No one implanted those negative thoughts in her head but her and after 10 years of playing these over and over she is one messed up insecure woman. She not only struggles with self image and promiscuous problems but she also has a form of anorexia.
Tristan Tamasy is between a rock and hard place. Born to non nurturing parents the only man he respects is his Grandfather – the founder of Tamasy Industries and who Tristan is currently working for as a Manager. When two women accuse his popular college quarterback younger brother of rape his grandfather wants Tristan to neutralize both girls. When we first met Tristan and saw what his grandfather wanted him to do I was unsure how he was going to be the hero in this story. But I should have worried he ended up being the the positive voice of reason to Kylie’s negative. But as the story progressed you knew there was going to be some major heartache when all the truths came out and when it came down to it would Tristan choose Kylie over his family.
One thing I really loved was there was some resolution with Micah – the husband and father who caused so much pain for Kylie, her sister Ally, mother Tracy and his best friend at the time Donny who went on to marry their mother. This story was told in The Wrong Sister which I definitely recommend before reading this one. Actually I recommend reading everything this author’s ever written!!!
