When I’m offered the chance to leave New York to live in London for three months, I can’t pack my suitcase fast enough. As soon as I touch down I’m obsessing over red telephone boxes, palaces and all the black cabs. But my favorite place is the tube. It’s wall-to-wall hot British men in suits. When I’m offered a temporary job working for a barrister, I say, sign me up.On my first commute into work, … up.
On my first commute into work, it’s a total accident when I lose my balance and fall against the most handsome Brit alive. He’s as charming as James Bond and as suave as Mr. Darcy. I want to lick tea from his hard abs and listen to his accent all night long.
Turns out Mr. Handsome is my new boss. And his attitude isn’t as hot as his gorgeous face, broad shoulders and tight ass. He’s brooding, short-tempered and the most arrogant man I’ve ever met.
As we’re fighting, out of nowhere he kisses me. And I’m pretty sure I see fireworks over Big Ben and hear God Save the Queen.
I wasn’t looking for the fairytale but I might have found my knight in shining armor. The problem is he lives an ocean away.

Great characters with steamy love moments….oh my!
The British Knight absolutely exceeded all my expectations and totally blew me away. I don’t know how Louise Bay does it but the woman is a bloody genius at writing hot and moody men that you just can’t help but fall in love with. It seems to me that the more stiff and brooding they are I find myself lusting and swooning after them even more.
Alexander Knightley’s character hit the mark for me in every way, his profession of being a barrister is something so very different from the usual rich Lord or CEO and was a much needed refreshing change, it gave an interesting setting for the story of Alex meeting Violet King on her way to a job interview at the chambers where Alex’s office is. Violet I already loved as she often appeared in the previous books of this series and I was so excited to find out she was getting her own story. She is a delightfully funny and headstrong woman that refuses to take no crap from anyone. Alex and Violet seem like a combination that you just wouldn’t ever think would fit together but with Violet’s smart sarcastic mouth and Alex’s grumpy no nonsense workaholic attitude, they are total opposites attract with chemistry just waiting to explode. She soon pushes him to give into temptation to their attraction for each other and when it finally happens the passion between them sizzled like a hot skillet, so hot it almost burnt my fingers while turning the pages!
This book will make you laugh so much and it will satisfy the most avid of romance reader. It has so much passion and romance in abundance and as much drama anyone needs to keep the story different and interesting. I just couldn’t put this book down as it gripped hold of me and took me away from all that was going on around me, I totally lost all track of time as I got lost amongst it’s pages.
This was a superb read and deserves every one of it’s 5 Stars!
SUMMARY:
Violet King is in need of a change. Four years ago, she was betrayed by her college boyfriend, David and all her future dreams went up in smoke. Together they were working toward a startup business and now with that gone, she is left without a boyfriend and essentially without a career. Feeling adrift in her life, she has settled for waitressing positions because she wants nothing to do with her degree thanks to the fallout with David. She has also learned to live with zero expectations from men, which means no attachments or strings. She strictly lives week by week and in the moment. Living a life in the moment has leant wonderfully to her carefree persona that she shows to everyone. “Men and cocktails were two of my favorite things to waste time on, and I made sure my day always had plenty of either one or the other.” -Violet. But too soon, that lifestyle was proving to lose luster and she felt like she was missing a part of herself. “I’d worked hard not to repeat the same mistakes I’d made with David and my business by not getting emotionally invested in anything, but something was missing.” -Violet. Now, Violet’s found herself jobless, with her rent up soon, so when she is given an opportunity that seems too good to pass up, she decides to live in the moment yet again. Her friend, Darcy has offered her to stay in London at her place for a while until she feels more grounded and “reinvented”. “Once I’d been the girl who was ready to take on the world. I wanted that girl back.” -Violet. It was time for a change.
Alexander Knightley doesn’t do distractions. He’s a man who is driven by his job and that job alone. He always puts work first. His past relationships and failed marriage are proof of that. He strives to be the top barrista in London and he’s on the fast pace to do just that, but when his new assistant arrives, his one-track mind gets clouded.“Women rarely caught my attention, but she was not only beautiful. There was something exotic about her, something that made me want to know more.” -Alexander.
In the three months that Violet is in London, she is proving quickly to breakdown Alexander’s usual surely, antisocial, gruffy demeanor and slowly making Alexander look at life in moments verses the next big case or the next big work success. “Nothing ever broke my concentration, but Miss King had found a way.” -Alexander. Violet came for a change, but Alexander is finding himself changing as well. Alexander is helping Violet rediscover herself and helping her realize just who she is and what she wants out of life. The “this is only temporary” proves to be harder to maintain as the weeks go by and the walls gradually come down. Alexander fears he will not be able to give Violet what she truly needs from a man. He worries he’ll once again choose work over a woman. But Violet isn’t like any other woman and she just might be the one to pull him away from work. Violet is scared to get hurt again. She knows what the score is between her and Alexander, but that doesn’t stop her from starting to fall. Can she really walk away at the end of her time in London? Or can they have a future together? Can Alexander prove that their relationship is worth the risk?
THOUGHTS:
“He is my Knightley in shining armor and our fairytale was as real as it got.”
I want to start by saying that what I adore about Louise’s novels, is they always speak to my romance loving heart and THE BRITISH KNIGHT did just that! Alexander and Violet were perfect for each other in the end. Ever since reading KING OF WALL STREET, I’ve been patiently waiting for Violet’s story because I was intrigued by her character and I wanted to know about her HEA! So I am so giddy to finally be able to have it! Violet King was exactly how I’d imagined her to be…a carefree spirit that seized the day, very independent and a woman who holds her own. To see that she found her counterpart in Alexander was perfect and realistic. He pulled out the hidden Violet that’d been lying dormant for years. Unfortunately for me (this is where the 4 stars comes in), Alexander kind of fell flat. I was intrigued by him in the beginning, but he slowly lost appeal. *sad face* He really did seem selfish at times and frustrated me! I needed him to work harder for Violet, FIGHT FOR HER sooner. He seemed to realize more quickly than she did that he was falling, but he wasn’t really proving it to her, at least not to me, so I was missing out on some #swoonworthy moments that I feel could’ve been in there. But then around 85%, I started falling for him again! He was stepping up and proving that he wanted Violet beyond their “temporary” status. *happy dance* I just wish he did it sooner.
In the end, I was happy with their HEA. I adored the interactions between Alexander and Violet. I loved the “office romance” angle and the bicker between them throughout the novel. Getting dual POV’s helped with understanding where each character was coming from and their backgrounds. This story is very realistic and I’m sure there are some readers out there who can relate to both characters. If you’re looking for a slow-building, sexy and fun novel about two characters finding themselves and love along the way, then this is the novel for you. Now, I am patiently waiting for Louise to announce a book for Darcy! She needs her HEA too! That poor woman has given up on it! *crossing fingers* THE BRITISH KNIGHT is a connected standalone, to other novels of Louise Bay’s (KING OF WALL STREET, PARK AVENUE PRINCE, and DUKE OF MANHATTAN, but it can be read as a standalone.
4 stars!

Fantastic and very engaging story, ending up devouring the story in a matter of hours over the weekend. This is the first book I am reading by Louise Bay and I enjoyed her writing style and how beautifully the story flows . A perfect opposite attracts situation. Alexander is a swoon worthy workaholic barrister and Violet is his sassy assistant. I enjoyed their banter, chemistry and overall story. After finishing this book I went back and bought the other two books Kings of Wall Street & Duke of Manhattan as I enjoyed Scarlet and Max character in this story and realized they already have their own stories. I hope We will be getting Darcy’s story next . This one is definitely a must recommend!
Absolutely perfect
In this book there are no far fetched plot lines, no outrageous characters, no unnecessary angst, no what the heck moments. Instead you will find a perfectly crafted romance. This hit all the right notes with me. Vivid locations, witty dialogue between two charismatic characters, realistic conflict and resolution, and off the charts sex scenes.
Also fascinating to me was a behind the scenes look at the life of an English Barrister, I had no idea about any of that! I could see and feel and smell the mountains of paperwork and hear the creaking floors.
This was a hard to put down book for me, I loved it!
This book was just the right balance between a little dirty and a little romantic… the female character is smart and funny… really entertaining
This Americana couldn’t get enough of this super sexy and romantic read!
Smooth, steamy and sinfully delicious.
The story of Violet and Alex was well written, the story flowed easily, and it had just enough angst to make the reader wonder what the final outcome would be.
This read pulled me in from the moment I met Violet and her new found life in London. She’s quirky, funny, a little immature but she was likable and you couldn’t deny that knew to go after what she wanted. Meeting Alex was a big welcome and hello into her new London life. Discovering who he was made her life a little more interesting. Alex was broody but sweet and all alpha. They say opposites attract, but what happens between them who have to read and find out. Their chemistry is undeniable and their banter is funny and sharp.
How their story developed and what the final outcome is I’ll never share.
However, it is well worth reading and finding out!
Louise Bay certainly knows how to give us a love affair with characters from different sides of the pond and The British Knight is a beautifully written love story featuring a British barrister and a American PA who has been employed to clear up his office and get his billing upto date.
Vi is in the UK because the company she helped develop with her ex boyfriend is about to go public and she needed to get away from the news, but she needs to work so when her sister’s sister in law puts her forward for a temporary job looking after a hot British barrister it seems like perfect timing.
Alexander or Alex to everyone except Vi is a control freak, he doesn’t want or need help in his office and the last thing he needs is a distraction from a stunning American called Vi. They say opposites attract and that’s certainly what happens here, a workaholic who lives to work and free spirit who works to live, a grumpy control freak and a fun loving gal. I liked the grumpy Alex but as Vi draws out the real man I found Alex chipping away at my heart strings and Vi is a character you fall in love with instantly, once again Louise Bay has given us new characters to love and another brilliant read that’s not just about love and passion it’s also about family, friendships and loyalty. A perfect read, did I say I loved it ….
