Can two wrongs feel oh-so-right? This bride is about to find out—with the bad boy who makes an epic breakup worth her while. Bella: I know I’m a princess. I’m used to getting what I want. But all I ever really wanted was a husband and a family. Unlike my sister, Sophie, I’ll never have a brilliant career to fall back on. So what’s a bride to do when she learns that Prince Charming is a cheating … learns that Prince Charming is a cheating snake just a few days before her fairy-tale wedding? With my fiancé begging for another chance, the only way to save the wedding is to even things out with a little revenge sex—and local bartender Christian Jordan seems like the right man for the job.
Christian: If gorgeous Bella Bigelow thinks sleeping with me will somehow lead to happily ever after, I’m not going to turn her down. The guy she wants to marry is a jerk, and her sister is fooling around with my estranged twin brother, Cain. So what’s the problem—besides falling for a woman who doesn’t know what she wants out of life? All I want to do is whisk her away from that church, take her to a cabin in the woods, and act out all our naughtiest fantasies. And I may just get the chance. . . .
Don’t miss Sophie and Cain’s story in The Hookup!

Bella and Christian heat up the pages! I loved going along on the bumpy ride to their HEA!
Fresh, fun, and hot, hot, hot!
The Jordan brothers are almost an urban legend in hot mess drama. Emphasis on the HOT. Whether you have read The Hookup or not, The Breakup will keep you entertained and never let you down. This runaway bride is waking up. Being the princess never had a bigger downfall than learning your fiancee isn’t who you thought. So Bride Barbie did the only thing she could do- run!
I loved the backbone that Bella seems to grow in this second chance, runaway bride adventure. It’s not innocent but it sure is fun!
This was a first read for me by Erin McCarthy and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this 4.5-Star book, The Breakup. It is part of The Jordan Brothers Series but, as I did, it can be read as a standalone. Although, I must admit I enjoyed The Breakup so much that I am going to go back to read The Hookup-book 1. The storyline in The Breakup was just different enough to peak my interest but once I started reading it, there definitely was no putting this one down! On her wedding day, right before she was to walk down the aisle no less, Bella decided that she could not forgive her fiance for his cheating ways nor didn’t want a repeat of her parents marriage, even if it was all she had ever known. Fresh off of giving up her apartment and job to start her married life after her wedding, what’s a girl to do when she’s in her wedding dress & all eyes are waiting for her to walk down the aisle, and she just can’t do what everyone expects? Bella finds her own answer when she texts her friendly, hot bartender and he texts back that he will pick her up on the side road after she sneak out the back door to the church. Christian is surprised when he pulls up & sees Bella, she didn’t plan to run away from her own wedding or plan to have feelings for this sexy single dad, but she can’t hide the fact that Christian is there for her & proves his friendship in spade. He takes her to his families ‘old cabin in the woods’ so she can hide out for a while to figure things out, but her wealthy family reports her as a missing person and he conflicted between trying to help Bella while worried the decision to hide her out will affect his responsibilities as the sole parent after the departure of his son’s mother, AKA his twin brother’s girlfriend or possibly ex-girlfriend (but that’s a story in itself). As Christian wonders if its worth it to get involved with Bella, Bella begins considering what’s next for me after The Breakup? Does Bella stays in this small town or goes back to the city and try to get her apartment and job back? Where does Bella end up finding a job? And how did Bella manage to get her ex-fiance to sign over the title to a house AFTER she left him at the alter? What do Bella & Christian have to work out – What’s their big surprise? Find out what happens to Bella & Christian after The Breakup by one-clicking this hot, somewhat steamy, yet romantic read!
I’ve been waiting for The Breakup ever since The Hookup released! Erin McCarthy never disappoints!
Erin McCarthy is one of my go-tos for contemporary romance! Love her characters! Grab this one today!
I really liked this one. I wasn’t too sure on Bella at first, but she totally grew on me right away. I do think she had one of the coolest jobs ever in a fictional book that I’ve ever read. She was a birth-mother advocate at an adoption agency. What an amazing job for a fake character to have! Then there’s single dad, Christian. I liked him in the last book and I was still digging him in this one. I liked watching those two fall for each other. The epilogue was all kinds of sweet. I’m sold on these Jordan brothers!
I was given this book in exchange for a fair review.
This is book two in the series in book one it’s more about Sophie and Cain who make some appearances which I really liked. This is Bella’s story Bella is getting ready for the wedding dreams are made out of but her groom isn’t Prince Charming.
Bella has some doubts and fears about going through with this wedding and the sexy bar tender isn’t making it easier. Bella realized that Bradley is a massive jerk and cheat she wants the whole fairy tale she wants love, desire, lust, and to be more than a trophy wife.
Christian only wants what he can’t have he thinks he isn’t cut out for being a boyfriend or a husband so when he has a chance to sleep with the prissy bitchy princess he wants to get a revenge f**k but is she more than that?
Turns out Bella is sweet and kind and not just a rich bitch.
I love this story because it’s real it’s raw and you see more about someone than just the exterior.
Bella is made to be a mother and a wife she’s not just arm candy with a platinum credit card. Christian is more than a local looser he’s an awesome dad and definitely husband material.
Erin writes the best story’s and this one was right up there I don’t think I liked one in the series more than the other they built on each other. I hope there is more from the Jordan brothers. There are 2 more brothers yet!!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title compliments of NetGalley and the publisher**
The Breakup is the second book in The Jordan Brothers series and I was so excited to get my hands on this book following the first book in the series. I will recommend that you read the first book, The Hookup, before diving into this one because this book takes place during the same time period as the first book and you could be lost or confused without having knowledge from the first book. This book is about the sister and brother of the main characters from The Hookup.
Christian Jordan is one of those guys who is completely afraid to commit to a relationship, so instead he sleeps around. He also is the father to a son whose mother is the ex-girlfriend of his twin brother’s (you can imagine the relationship between brothers now!) and he shares custody with his mother with whom his son resides. Christian is very self-centered (even though he claims to be a good father) and there were definitely times in this book where I found it hard to connect with him. For someone that is a great father, there are some of his actions that wouldn’t scream that to me, while others definitely did. He was a hard character to fully like.
Bella Bigelow is about to have the wedding of her dreams when she discovers that her soon-to-be husband has been cheating on her. Bella has always been a rule follower and one who is a people pleaser. She is naive and sheltered in some respects and she has basically given up everything for the man she is supposed to be marrying. After taking stock of what she wants and trying to decide what is best for her, she finally decides to call off the wedding just before the ceremony. Her first call is to Christian to ask him to help her flee.
Christian rides to the rescue and he and Bella escape to his family’s cabin for a couple days to decompress. Not only do they begin to get to know one another, the connection is obvious and immediate. Sparks fly and emotions do too when both find themselves getting more attached to the other than they feel they should or want to. Will they be able to make a go of a relationship or will Christian’s relationship phobia end it before it begins?
Overall I really enjoyed this book, but I wish I would have been able to say I loved Christian more than I did. Bella was sweet and sincere and I loved how she grew throughout the book and was able to find who she really was in the midst of all the turmoil she went through. I’m not sure if there will be more books in this series, but if there are, I definitely will check them out!
Sometimes Bella shocks the he** out of her man, “I don’t want a counselor. I don’t even want to talk.”She looked over at me from under those long eyelashes. “I just want you to eff me until I forget everything.”Now that almost had me driving off the road.” Christian really wonders about his woman at times, “first of all, why is that so horrible? Second of all, who the h**l do you hang around with? I’m not going to just pull my ***k out and wave it around in the woods.” Sometimes Bella is just too cute for her own good:
“Oooh, look, puppies.” They were behind a baby gate, tumbling over each other in a blur of brown-and-butter-colored fur. “Puppies. No. I am not getting you a puppy.”
“I never said I wanted a puppy.” Though the idea had merit. “But now that you mention it, I do have a house and I do live alone. Maybe I need a guard dog.”
One of the puppies was biting the other’s ear. “Yeah, these guys look terrifying.” He rolled his eyes.
I loved this book, but I wished there were more moments with Christian and his son and the interactions that Bella would have with them.
I adored everything about this book! It was sweet, it was steamy, and it was one hell of a ride that I enjoyed from page one. I loved Bella and Christian as individual characters, but I loved them even more as a couple.
The Breakup is the second book in The Jordan Brothers series by Erin McCarthy and definitely worth reading.
What better way to get back at a cheating ex, but to hook up with the local bartender. Bella believes that this will all end up with a HEA and Christian isn’t about to tell her no. Only falling for the girl who has no idea what she wants wasn’t necessarily part of the plan.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
HOT! Wow I couldn’t get enough of this book. Bella and Christian, a cabin in the woods, need I say more? I don’t want to give anymore details and ruin it, but this book needs to be in your library. I’m reading it for the second time now!
The Breakup by Erin McCarty is the second book in her The Jordan Brothers series and though this is both the first book I have read of hers and in the series, I did not feel lost. I will, however, say I would have had more background on the secondary characters if I had. I look forward to reading the previous book and more from this author.
The Breakup was an interesting read. There is angst, wrong turns and choices some readers may not like, but overall it was a good read. Bella is used to always getting what she wants. But when she learns her fiancé is a cheating, what is a girl to do? Revenge sex sounds just about right! Enter Christian Jordan.
Who is Christian to turn down a beautiful woman offering herself up to him, right? And so the push and pull begins between Christian and Bella. There is an attraction there they cannot deny, but they have one hell of journey. Christian does not believe in relationships, but will he realize what she means to him before it’s too late? Will Bella learn to stand up for herself and fight for what she wants?
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
I enjoyed this book a lot. Great writing and characters.
Its been a few years since I read a book from Erin McCarthy and her Blurred Lines series and I’m currently kicking myself for not reading more from her. I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn in from the very beginning and I loved Christian and Bella together, the push and pull between them was electric.
I will admit I struggled with Bella at the beginning, I couldn’t gel with her to start but she grew on me and the more I saw her with Christian the more I grew to like her. She is a socialite that has been influenced by her family and what they think is best for her and is engaged to a man they approve of who is a serial cheat. In a state of panic she calls the only person she can think of when she is running from her own wedding.
I really enjoyed reading this from dual POV. Considering the premise of the book it was low on angst and full on heat.
Fun, lighthearted and really sexy! The Breakup might appear as fluffy and hot but its also about the female leads self discovery. The book is an offshoot of The Hookup and runs on parallel timelines. Therefore, it can be read as a standalone. Christian and Bella’s story will have readers turning the pages, laughing and fanning themselves at the same time.
The Breakup by Erin McCarthy is the second book in the Jordan Brothers series this is Bella and Christian’s story. Although I didn’t read the first book in this series I was able to jump right into this book. I did enjoy this book so I am planing planning to go back and read the first book.
So what happens when two completely different people, who are looking for anything but love, meet in the most unexpected and unusual way? Lots and lots of sparks and drama.
Bella is the quintessential good girl, who just wants to get married and have babies. She is sweet, the ultimate people pleaser, always putting everyone else first. She grew up in a wealthy family with a domineering father who treated her like a princess. But she definitely has some self esteem issues. She considers her self the dumb sister. She thinks she has found the perfect man, smart, rich, handsome, and her parents totally approve of him. Boy was she wrong, she discovers, one week before the wedding, that he is cheating with more than one woman…
In walk Christian Jordan, who is sex on a stick with a bad boy attitude to match, who gets just about any girl he goes after. He did not grow up with the proverbial silver spoon, in fact he grew up dirt poor with a father who is in prison. Christian is only interested in women that are totally unavailable and only looking for a good time. He has a no commitment motto. There were definitely some aspects about Christian that I didn’t care for, but you will have to judge for yourself. As the story progressed he did redeem himself with the love and devotion he showed toward his son and that did make me like his character more.
I enjoyed the unique way that Bella and Christian’s relationship developed, their chemistry was definitely off the chart HOT! I did appreciate the author’s maturation of the two main characters throughout the book. Bella started off as a bit of a doormat, but in the end she grew a backbone and did some of her own stomping. Christian did some growing up as well, seeing Bella as more than just a rich princess. Overall this book was well written with some good surprises, which always makes a book more interesting . I did however feel that the ending was a bit rushed. I would have liked if the author had given us a little more about how Bella and Christian worked out their issues. Overall this was a fun, breezy summer read. ***I kindly received an ARC of this book by way of NetGalley/publisher/author. I was not contacted, asked or required to leave a review in order to read this book. I received no compensation, financial or otherwise. This is my honest review.***
HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I enjoyed reading The Breakup by Erin McCarthy, book two in The Jordan Brothers series. A few days before her fairy tale wedding, Bella discovers proof that her fiancé has been cheating on her with bar bathroom hook-ups. Not wanting to go through with the wedding, Bella wants until the morning of the ceremony to runaway. Bartender and woman-whore Christian picks up Bella when she is in need of a ride and helps hide her as she escapes the ceremony. Bella was not very experienced or confident about sex, especially after the criticism from her former fiancé. Asking Christian to show her what to do to pleasure a man and make sex feel special might not have been her brightest thought or request. Christian has no problem sleeping with Bella, but these two have a connection that neither ever felt before. What are these two opposites to do when they fall for each other, especially when complications arise?
Ms. McCarthy wrote a very hot story; filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. Beware, the heat level is high as there’s a lot of sexy time between Christian and Bella. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I’m like new born baby for Erin’s book but she take care about me very well
After reading Christian and Bella’s story there’s any chance for BREAK UP between me and Erin.
