It’s a game of exes and oooohhhs! Fall for the sizzling new standalone romance from USA Today bestselling author, Lila Monroe!I’m an expert in break-ups. From the slow fade, to extreme ghosting, to, ‘but you never said I couldn’t send pics of my junk to your step-sister on Instagram’ – I’ve seen it all… and built a mini-empire along the way. My blog, the Break-Up Artist, uses … the Break-Up Artist, uses my past heartache to help people move on – and avoid weeping on the floor at 3am consuming their body weight in spray cheese and Oreos. Ahem.
Now, I have a new job that could mean the big-time: helping a famous Hollywood it-couple navigate their tricky break-up. Except not everyone wants them Splitsville. The movie studio needs to keep them together to promote their big movie, and they’ve sent someone to make sure I fail in my first VIP gig.
Wes Baxter. Also known as my ex.
Also ALSO known as, the guy who broke my heart so thoroughly, I had to turn myself into a self-help guru just to get over him.
I’m determined to follow my own advice (no drooling over Wes’s perfect abs, or remembering how he rocked my world) but being trapped together at a luxe country retreat isn’t helping things… And neither is Wes’s early-morning naked swim habit. Soon, love is in the air, the sparks between us are hotter than ever, and I’m seriously questioning my ‘no backsies’ policy.
Wes swears he’s changed. He wants to try again, and he’s got an annoyingly sexy way of convincing me. But can second chances really work? Or has the Break-Up Artist finally met her match?

The fourth book in Lila Monroe’s Cupids series, The Breakup Artist was a charming, laugh-out-loud funny and sexy second-chance romantic comedy.
Wes, an entertainment attorney, and Katie, a relationship blogger known as The Breakup Artist, have a history that includes the breakup that launched Katie’s career. She lands a celebrity couple and the breakup that could put her on the map, but Katie is shocked to find her own ex in the mix managing Katie’s two superstar clients for a Hollywood movie studio. Wes and Katie’s breakup wasn’t exactly nasty, but considering he pulled a disappearing act on her, and she never got any kind of closure, Katie is hesitant to trust him again. The problem is that they were both young and did dumb things during their relationship, but it was Wes who handled it callously, leaving Katie confused and broken hearted. Chemistry was never a problem between them, though, and much to Katie’s dismay, that chemistry is still there despite her reluctance to let Wes back in. All those sparks finally catch fire, and this couple gives in to all that sizzling chemistry.
Witty banter and a swoony, steamy second-chance romance come together in a story that was full of humor, heart and heat. The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe gets 4 smooches from me!
~Danielle Palumbo, Red Cheeks Reads
I wanted to rate this book 4 stars because the story is pretty good, but the glaring writing mistakes were difficult to ignore. A supporting character’s name switches from Selena to Serena, and back again, several times throughout the first half of the book. At some point in chapter 8, the author calls a character by the name of another, “Selena and Wes” instead of “Selena and Ryder.” The main character is described as having blonde hair, then dark hair, then blonde, then dark again.
There’s also a significant lack of character description that you usually find in a romance novel. What color are the eyes and hair of the love interest, or even the main character? I couldn’t tell you.
I loved the unique storyline in the Breakup Artist. This was so fun to read. Katie is a quirky, energetic woman. She started a blog called The Break Up Artist after her own experience of being left heart broken. Second chance romance are my favourite love stories. Wes and Katie have sizzling chemistry. Immediately at first “reunion” I could feel the sparks. I totally felt for Katie. She definitely isn’t over her feelings for him and she is questioning whether or not she is following her own advise of The Break Up Artist. Wes is attractive and totally charming. Katie is given a big opportunity but with that opportunity comes the fact that she will be working closely with Wes. There is a lot of fun, light moments but steamy passionate ones too. I love the concept that things happen for a reason and the fact Wes is back in Katie’s life means something. There was a ton of growth between these characters from beginning to end and I devoured it in one sitting.
Good time guarantee! Lila Monroe is one of my favorite authors, she is so great delivering rom-coms. I did not want to start this book because I did not connect with Katie in the previous ones of the series, but after reading some bad rom-coms I decided to do it, OMG it was so good! I loved all the characters, I had such a good time reading it, I wish I had known what happened with Wes job, the it my only negative comment on the book
Breakup Artist turned Makeup Artist?
Katie is hired by one half of America’s young It couple to help with a difficult breakup. Katie’s ex-boyfriend Wes is the studio’s entertainment lawyer hired to make sure that does not happen. The push and pull of their work that needs to be done mixed with the simmering new feelings and Katie’s job turns into a makeup instead of a breakup – with everyone.
This book is a lot of fun. Dealing with a sweet but diva-ish young actress and her jerkoff boyfriend is so funny – frustrating, but still funny! And Wes, her ex, is also frustrating but in an oh so sexy way!
Another great read from Lila Monroe! (Not a surprise!)
I’ve probably said it a million times, but I’m a total sucker for a good second-chance romance, and I absolutely LOVED this one!
Wes is a guy I didn’t really want to like at first. When you find out his history with Katie, you’ll understand why. But then you meet him, and you’re instantly charmed. He’s not a bad guy, he’s just made some questionable choices. And you’ll be in love with him in no time! He’s a funny, sweet, awkward, down-to-earth boy-next-door type. He’ll have you wrapped around his pinky before you even realize it.
Katie is the best. I adore her. She’s funny, quirky, and a whole lot of fun. She’s also strong, stubborn, and willing to stand up for herself, and I love the fight she puts up against her attraction to Wes. She’s instantly likable.
These two burned up the pages with their unresolved chemistry. Add that to their witty banter, their constant bickering over who should get their way, and throw in a Hollywood twist, and you’ve got a fun, flirty, sexy, satisfying rom-com to binge-read your way through. You’re going to fall in love with these two! If you haven’t grabbed this series of connected stand-alones yet, you should. They’re all fantastic and they just keep getting better!
Lila Monroe books are a lot of fun and The Breakup Artist was no different.
I really enjoy second chance romance and the way Wes and Katie’s relationship had ended and her subsequent career made for good reading.
Five years have passed since this pair last saw each other and they are both very different people from who they were when they were together. I liked that both characters had developed as they did and that they could both admit that they still had a spark, even if Katie was hellbent on ignoring it to start with.
Their interactions with Katie’s clients gave us some crazy moments and when she realised that Wes was actually trying to work against her her fiery nature and sass just seemed to enamour her ex even more.
Some communication between them would have helped avoid the drama that came between them but then again, would they have tried as hard and realised what they really wanted if the drama hadn’t occurred?
Even though it’s the fourth book in the Cupids series it could be read as a standalone – which helps as I’ve only read one of the previous three books, even though I have them all on my kindle, but that’s something I’m definitely gonna be resolving ASAP.
Katie Is the highly successful Breakup Artist. She started this new career five years ago with a blog she developed to help her deal with the sudden ghosting of the love of her life, Wes Baxter. Wes left town without a word. He refused to respond to any messages and blocked her on all social media sites. Why? She didn’t understand the why, so she did the only thing she could think to do. She used her blog to work through her breakup then she worked to help others work through the pain and heartache of their breakups. From that Katie built a successful career helping people “wave goodbye to bad relationships so they can free themselves up to find Mr. or Miss Right instead.”
“Some people say that love is blind, but I’ve always thought it’s more like that third margarita: it makes your head spin, and your knees unsteady, and can lead to spontaneous out bursts of Celine Dion’s greatest his—with the right person. But when it’s Mr. Wrong” Well, you find yourself waking up the next morning with a killer hangover, regretting just how fast your pants came off.”
Lila Monroe writes the perfect books to bring me out of a funk. She makes me laugh and feel good. Katie and Wes are fun characters. It is fun from the start with Katie’s first accidental run in with Wes on the streets of New York City through their time together at the ranch of the famous Hollywood “It” couple through to the end. Katie and Wes are at odds for the most of the book, but there is chemistry and sizzle. Wes wants Selena and Ryder to stay together as he is a lawyer for the studio. Selena hired Katie to help her with a successful breakup.
The Breakup Artist is the fourth book in Lila Monroe’s Cupid series focused on five friends finding love. This story is a second chance romance that hits all the right buttons for me. I opened the book to pass a little time then before I knew it, I was at The End. I enjoyed every minute with Katie and Wes. I recommend The Breakup Artist for a funny break from the dregs of the day. If you haven’t read any of the other books in the series, you are fine, as each one stand on its own. Although I will caution, after reading The Breakup Artist , you will want to learn more about Katie’s friends. Lucky for Lila Monroe fans, the next book the Cupids series is coming soon. There isn’t long to wait for more laughs.
This was a good read but it wasn’t one of my favorite in this series. I just felt how they resolved their issues in the end a little anticlimactic. Wes and Katie did show growth as individuals after their breakup but there times I felt Wes didn’t fully get it but it did finally click for him.
What happens when you’re confronted with the man responsible for your broken heart…the guy you needed to get over and struggled, so much so, that you became a self-help guru to walk other people through their break-ups?
Second chances aren’t something that a break-up artist believes in, hence the moniker using the the words ‘break-up,’ but that’s exactly what happens between Katie and her entertainment lawyer ex-boyfriend when he comes back into her life in quite an unusual way.
The fact that Katie turned her pain into something that redefined her entire life is extraordinary and telling about the kind of person she is and the fact that she knew she needed to do something to help herself shows that she didn’t want to lose herself because of it.
Wes is definitely a charming hero and it’s clear that he’s learned from the mistakes he made when he was younger, but, at times, he had a vibe that I just wasn’t feeling; it might just be the fact that he’s a lawyer and they definitely have a different mindset, but it took me a bit to believe he could be trusted with Katie’s heart again, and I do feel like she made it too easy for him to become such a huge part of her life again, but I do understand that the heart wants what the heart wants.
The Breakup Artist is a unique second-chance romance that will appeal to romance readers who are in the mood for a different kind of story line and quirky situations and comical encounters with just the right amount of drama and heart.

Another great summer read from Lila Monroe, The Breakup Artist is the 4th book in the Cupids series and it’s adorable. I always know exactly what I’m going to get from Ms. Monroe but seeing as I loved all the characters from the previous books, I was stoked to dive in!
Katie kinda fell into her career as the “breakup artist” when her boyfriend ghosted her. Like poof, gone, no talk, no text, no reason, just gone. Rather than becoming bitter (much ), she’s used the breakup to remake her life and help others through the hard times of breakups. When she’s offered a job she can’t refuse, she doesn’t count on being stuck with the ghost of ghosters past…or being even more attracted to him now.
As a fan of Katie AND as a former victim of a ghosting, Wes was a bit of a hard sell for me, at first. Lord knows, he should’ve had to spend some knee time getting forgiveness but in the end, I came to really love him too. Katie and all the other characters were such fun and I loved catching up with them. Fun read full of humor and heart!

What an entertaining story! It had great banter, charming characters and a storyline that was interesting as well as drama galore!!
I thought Katie was a rather interesting character, but she doesn’t quite believe in herself, and don’t we all feel like that at some stage in our lives?
She has a job to do and let’s just say that things get rather interesting and intriguing. It’s been five years since she’s seen her ex and Wes is every bit the charming man, or is he not what he seems?? I really loved him, quite frankly, he had this air about him that I just liked. I also thought they were both rather similar in certain parts of the story.
A great, light hearted, entertaining read!
This is the fourth book in the series. This one took me a bit to get into, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. I will admit I had to warm up to Wes a bit at first. This is a second chance for Wes and Katie. Though now they are on opposite sides when it comes Hollywood’s IT couple. Katie is trying to preform her magic, but Wes is playing cupid. Things are about to get very interesting. It has the humor and banter I look forward to in a book by Lila Monroe.
I’m a huge romcom fan, and I know that when I buy a romcom by Lila Monroe, I’m sure to enjoy it. This whole Cupids series has been utterly adorable and enjoyable! Fun reads, low angst, playful stories with humor – always a good bet and a surefire success in my book. The Breakup Artist is a second-chance romance that will leave you smiling.
Katie, our female lead, suffered such a devastating breakup that she starts a blog and lands a book deal. Wes, who ghosted her in the past, didn’t realize that they were in a real relationship. Katie has made her career off of being totally jaded and not believing in love, so when she gets a second chance with Wes, she’s beyond skeptical.
The two of them rediscover why they worked the last time, and their second chance is fun and a treat to experience.
Any time I’m looking for a fun escape, Lila Monroe is a pretty good bet. The Breakup Artist was a super fun read with engaging characters, plenty of laughs, and some great feels. I’d like to say that the romance won me over and was the best part of this one, but if I’m being honest, it wasn’t just the romance. It was all of it – the couple, the secondary characters, the silly situations – all of it comes together for a feel-good read that’s perfect for whiling away a weekend. Katie and Wes are terrific characters, but so are Selena, and Brooke, and even a couple of others who are much less likable. After all, those characters are necessary too, right? We even get a few glimpses at some past favorites in this series of standalones. So, what it all comes down to is this one is another well written, fast paced story from Lila Monroe.
The Breakup Artist was an utter delight to read! The quirky and unique story line, partnered with the comedic dynamic between the characters, was super enjoyable.
Katie and Wes have unresolved history. She was blindsided by Wes when he up and ghosted her. So rude, right? But without this breakup, Katie wouldn’t have created a successful blog geared towards breakups, secure a book deal, or land a celebrity couple as clients who could potentially skyrocket her career. But when Wes enters the picture again, working with the couple as a lawyer from the movie studio, things go from elation to awkward. And old feelings of heartbreak and doubt are brought right back to the surface.
Katie was awesome! I loved the fact that not only did she grow into a stronger, more self-assured woman, she took a painful life experience and turned it into a positive. But the icing on the cake was the fact she wasn’t perfect. She still had her fair share of flaws — her self-doubt and insecurities. But those qualities are so real and spot on with a lot of women who’ve experienced heartbreak, it makes the character very relatable.
Wes on the other hand…well, I didn’t love him like I usually do with male leads. Yes, he had changed. Yes, he had matured and apologized for his immature and insensitive actions. But there was just something about him at first that just rubbed me the wrong way. I can’t quite pinpoint it. Maybe it was the fact that he had to do very little to gain back Katie’s trust. So I guess that should really be a strike against her. But if it was up to me, he would’ve been groveling until one is blue in the face. But nevertheless, his charm and personality finally won me over along with how much he regretted letting Katie go in the first place.
The Breakup Artist was a sweet, second chance romance with low angst and minimal drama. Although it’s part of the Cupids series, it’s a complete standalone and a fun and entertaining summer read!
The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe is the fourth book in her slightly connected Cupids series. A standalone romance set in the same world as the other books in the series and connected by friendships with the other characters in those books. This is the story of Katie Peters, the breakup artist, and Wes Baxter, her ex that made her the woman she is today and who’s ghosting of her caused her to become the breakup artist. Told in dual POV, set between New York and California, with some crazy movie stars and hollywood business people thrown in, this was a feel-good romance, with some angst, some wonderful back and forth between Katie and Wes, some Hollywood dramatics, some new wonderful friends and an ultimately awesome happily ever after. For me, a Lila Monroe story is like a good friend. Comfort, camaraderie, and a great time had by all. Loved it! Enjoy!
Lila Monroe is one of my favorite authors! Cupids is such a great series and The Breakup Artist my be my newest favorite from this series! Wes and Katie’s story was perfect! I love second-chance romance stories and this one was amazing! Sweet, fun and full of chemistry – this is a FIVE STAR read!!
I love a good second chance romance and The Breakup Artist is just that!! Katie and Wes haven’t crossed paths in years but fate has a funny way of stepping in and making sure things happen as they are supposed to! This lighthearted, sweet, and fun book will have you smiling and enjoying this second chance, slow-burn romance!
