I’m a bread lover and really enjoy the process of making bread from scratch!!! Love this book!!
As a baker of bread this one was exceptionally good. great ideas!!!! friends and neighbors agree!
Great resource for any home baker who wants to add interesting and delicious artisanal breads to their repertoire.
I love this book and have tried a couple of recipes and can’t wait to try more.
The more I would make a recipe, the easier it became. The first time, though, I had to refer to the book every few minutes.
Great book. Good information about various aspects of bread making.
This book has everything – I thought I knew a lot about bread, but once I read this book I realized I hardly knew anything! It is a great addition to my cook book library.
If you want to learn to make homemade breads, there isn’t another cookbook that is as necessary as this one!
I didn’t find the book particularly well put together. I made a sourdough as instructed, then struggled to find a use for it. I spent a lot of time searching the internet to fill in the big gaps and question marks. I guess it’s not the Bread Bible for me at least, so I have bought several more books about the subject since this one.
Dear Lord. Not what I wanted or expected when I bought it. I hate having to make bread i.e. Sponge before I make bread. A real bread “bible” would have included ALL kinds of bread. Just too much nonsense for me.
Thorough knowledge of bread and materials to create it….informative, but not daunting.
A great romp through the bread world. So many recipes and lots of detailed directions to lead you to success.
Everything you need to know about making bread. The recipes are easy to follow and they work!
Everything you would ever need to know about bread baking…and then some.
If you are baking bread you need this book.
This book makes baking seem easy. Never having baked before, always intimidated, I tried some recipes from this book and was very successful. The instructions were easy to follow and clear. I am very glad to have found this book.
I love baking bread and truly enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting to learn how and why different grains interact with the different leavening agents; how to use different shapes to make different breads or why some are “washed” before and/or while baking and others are not. So much more interesting than the individual recipes that I …
I love that she gives the recipes in both measurements and weights, and explains why something happens. It’s a great way to introduce children to scientific concepts as well as creating something delicious.
Lot’s of good information
The author is a serious researcher and dependable, occasionally too much so, as some recipes can seem too detailed. Then again, she really does write the foolproof baking “bibles.”
