For the first time in his life, he knows what he wants and that is to make the fiery red-head his. Though she refuses to make this an easy task, he’s determined to win her heart.
As the pages turn, sparks fly, igniting a fire between them not even they can stop. Will love win or will unforeseen circumstances keep them apart?

Lianna Hawkins’ debut novel is a cute Western Romance story. The spunky heroine, Ellie Becket, and her sisters have escaped the confines of the man who adopted them as youths and have established themselves as successful saloon operators. But the man isn’t so willing to let them go without making their lives difficult. Ellie has a plan to put an end to their adoptive father’s hold on them, but the danger involved has a newcomer to town, Liam Holt, wanting to help and protect her. Ellie thinks she doesn’t need protection, but her heart has her begging for more Liam.
Disappointing on Several Levels
This author is new to me, and unfortunately, she did not make a good impression with this book. She fell victim to the dreaded information dump, not once but twice, one each for both the hero and heroine. These were somewhat prodigious data dumps as well. Sigh! The book was also written in a way that made it seem as if it was a later book in a series. In fact, I literally checked the cover to be sure this was Book One in the series! Never a good sign! It felt like, for far too long, that we were missing key information about the heroine and her “sisters” background… despite those prodigious information dumps. Unfortunately, too, the PDF ARC copy I received was riddled with errors in grammar, punctuation, and usage. I did check the published preview, and unfortunately, these persist in the published edition. Comma usage seemed to be particularly troublesome for the author, with required ones left out often and others added that did not need to be so. Too often the author used modern wording and phrasing. While a historical novel doesn’t need to be precisely accurate in word choice, it should not include words and phrases that would not have been used back then. For instance, some phrases seemed more appropriate for contemporary self-help books than a western romance. I felt, too, that the heroine was almost a stereotype of what a historical Western woman would be. All and all, I found this to be a disappointing book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
The first book in the A Runaway Outlaws Novella series a well written western story that kept me turning pages. Ellie Beckett and Liam Holt’s story has suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, a surprise, and love. I want to read the next book. This is a new Author to me. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved the story.
Blackmail is never nice but when you have so much to lose as Ellie it becomes deadly. The past has found the sisters when their “father” shows up at the Fallen Dove and he means to destroy everything they have work hard to build. Now fate has sent Liam Holt Helena, Montana, and guess what he is a bounty hunter after their ”father”. Can Ellie and Liam work together? This was a really interesting story and I liked how it played out. The characters were great and the challenges they overcame were first-rate. The book is well-written and I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
