3 stories in one collection. Loved the 1st one best, but they are all worth the time to read. They pull you in and keep you hooked till the end.
Borderland Bride: When he encounters a badly beaten but clearly beautiful young woman while out hunting, Jake immediately feels protective of her and takes her back home to his brother’s keep. He had thought never to marry again after the misery his first wife brought him, but he admires Isabel’s courage and winds up longing for more with her, though he is sure he can’t compete with his charming brother, the lord of the estate of Thornewall.
Unable to read or write and having lost her hearing and speech in the attack, Lady Isabel is feeling vulnerable but determined never to endure such again. She keeps quiet about her past and hopes she is well hidden enough in the Borderlands that those who search for her won’t find her.
Jake is seen by most as a gruff giant, but Isabel sees his gentle side. Yet Jake believes he is incapable of being a good husband and knows he can’t trust any woman again. Isabel is completely besotted with Jake, but she still fears sharing her secrets and with his mistrust, that might be enough to keep them apart.
We have definite instalove here, but when only one will admit to it, problems ensue. Although communication could’ve eliminated many issues, when the truth comes out it is too late and Jake withdraws, believing he’s been lied to yet again. These two almost didn’t wind up together, but their tumultuous relationship was a very interesting read.
Borderland Beauty: Dominic, Lord of Thornewall, needs to find a strong wife now more than ever with his brother now married and busy with his own lands and border reivers becoming more and more of a violent threat. When an old marriage contract between himself and a neighbor’s daughter comes to light, Dominic decides to give it a chance. Then when he meets her, Dominic decides she must be his wife.
Lucy Montgomery was hurt by Dominic’s careless words in the past and wants nothing to do with his arrogance now. She knows she could never hold Dominic’s attention permanently and wishes she didn’t find herself quite so susceptible to his charms. Lucy has nurtured her hatred of Dominic for years and wholeheartedly believes the gossip that exaggerates his bedtime activities with women.
Lucy annoyed me with her outright hatefulness, but I can understand her reasons as a fellow ugly duckling. I just hated that she put so much stock into gossip rather than trying to get to know Dominic and forming her own opinions, although I could understand her not trusting her own judgment due to her own reaction to Dominic and his charm. Dominic has never cared what people who don’t know him have said about him, but he does now that his rakish reputation threatens his future happiness. Lucy has no self-confidence, mostly because she took Dominic’s flippant words so much to heart all those years ago, so annoying as it was at times, her reaction to Dominic’s attraction to her is rather realistic.
Lucy finds that she genuinely enjoys Dominic’s company, much to her surprise, and begins to wonder if his intentions toward her could be true. But Lucy is determined to protect herself from potential heartbreak and will not give him an inch. Even when the increasingly bold attacks by the reivers reveal her concern for his safety, Lucy is still not willing to truly give Dominic a chance; by the time she recognizes his true character, it may be too late for them.
Borderland Betrayal: After spending a passionate night together, James wakes alone to find he has been deserted by the lovely and exotic Ellise. He returns to his position as Captain of the Guard at Thornewall only to find that Ellise has been hired as midwife and helper to the demesne’s mistress. Ellise had led James to believe that she was a peasant, but she is really a Spanish noblewoman. Widowed by her English husband, she is now penniless and desperate to survive and get her son back from her late husband’s brother, who keeps him as the sole heir to his earldom.
Although the attraction between them is still there, Ellise has too many secrets to risk sharing them with anyone, even James. Meanwhile, James finds his thoughts inexplicably turning towards marriage, but he knows he has a duty to marry someone wealthy and connected and to work to expand his lands and influence. James is feeling the weight of all his responsibilities more strongly than ever and beginning to question his life a bit, but he knows there can be no future between him and Ellise in any scenario. Nonetheless, James finds himself feeling more and more protective of Ellise and she finds herself distracted by James.
But when troubles from Ellise’s past find their way to Thornewall, Ellise refuses to confide in anyone or ask for help. She frustrated me with her waspishness toward those who were trying to be nice to her and her politeness towards those trying to do her harm. These two are both all too keen to listen to gossip and James is still seeking approval he never received from his now dead father and as such he never feels he is worthy. By the time these two finally realize their true feelings and desires with regards to each other, it may indeed be too late for a real future together.
This was my least favorite of the trilogy just because I felt James’ actions towards Ellise near the end were out of character for him, but he soon got it together and I still enjoyed it.
The plots in this set are solid and have all the ingredients I look for in a historical romance. They’re maybe a little predictable, but that didn’t make them less enjoyable for me. This was a great trilogy of short novels that held my attention through till the end.
I received an ARC from the author/publisher via Booksprout and chose to leave a review. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Borderland romance as its best. Three beautiful and heart warming reads which will lighten your heart as you read

I was lucky enough to have already read the first two books in this series years ago. I re-read them to refresh my memory before moving onto the third and final book. I was so happy to return to Thornewall! Though each book would stand on their own, it is even better to read them all and in the order of release.
BORDERLAND BRIDE:
On the night of her betrothal, Lady Isabel has run away from an arranged marriage in which she was betrothed to a sadist. She is intent on forging her own destiny, perhaps a lady’s maid in Scotland. Unfortunately, during her journey north, she is ambushed by a gang of men intent on stealing her jewels. When she fights back, they beat her and leave her for dead. Jake chases off the gang and is surprised to find a noble lady alone and near death on his brother’s lands. From the beginning, she captures his heart, but will her secrets and his past prevent him from claiming her?
I loved the characters in this story. Lady Isabel is feisty, independent, and sweet. Jake’s brother, Dominic, is flirtatious, intelligent, compassionate, and loyal to his brother and his people. Jake has been misjudged based on his size and has built an armor of protection around himself because of it. I have known young men like Jake. They grow tall at such a young age, that people expect them to act more the age they appear than the age they actually are. This makes them appear socially awkward, when society is actually the awkward factor. Luckily, Isabel sees the true Jake and does not make the common assumptions. He is a warrior, but inside he is still a teddy bear and his soft heart has fallen for her.
I enjoyed this lighter story. Think of it as éclair cake (my favorite dessert) after a satisfying, but heavy, meal of steak and baked potatoes. They’re all delicious, but sometimes you just need a little fluffy dessert.
This was – at the time – the second book I had had the privilege of reading from Ms. Holt and I already absolutely loved her style. This book is reminiscent of the classic bodice-rippers of my youth with added humor and wit.
BORDERLAND BEAUTY:
After arranging the marriage of his older brother, Jake, to Isabel, Dominic embraces the idea of finding his own wife for the sake of his lands and to produce an heir. He plans feasts and activities for the Christmas season. One of the firsts to arrive in Thornewall is the Montgomery family and Dominic finds out there is a marriage contract signed by his parents to have him wed Lucy. Lucy was an ugly duckling. She was hurt by comments made by Dominic when he was a younger man and she knows of his rakish reputation, making it hard for her to trust the charming lord. Dominic is determined to show her that he is not pursuing her for sport. Can he turn her ‘nay’ to a ‘yea?’
After reading Borderland Bride, I knew I wanted to read Dominic’s HEA; I knew he deserved one. Feisty Lucy does not make anything easy for him, except for falling in love with her. She is smart, passionate, and beautiful, but she is also shy, a little socially awkward, and nursing the hurts of her past. Both Dominic’s patience and his impatience work on her resistance, breaking her down until they can both be happy.
I absolutely loved this story and will continue reading all from Ms. Holt that I can grab up.
BORDERLAND BETRAYAL:
The third book in the Borderland Legacy is all about Dominic’s Captain of the Guard and best friend, James, stumbling upon and eventually laying claiming to a bewitching, mysterious, Hispanic beauty. They only need to be honest with one another, trust, and accept the fates.
I loved the twists and turns that brought them together and Ellise’s secrets that threatened to divide them. She is a strong woman in a world that expects women to be weak. Much of what she has been through, even a modern woman would have trouble being the awesome person that she is. Yet, she has a softness to her, too… a softness that James recognizes immediately.
BORDERLAND BETRAYAL is a strong finish to the series. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves historical romance.

This is an interesting and enjoyable set of stories that have strong, exciting and enjoyable characters. Each story will keep you entertained from the beginning, and get better as it goes. It should be added to your TBR list.
These are three truly terrific romantic stories. They are perfect in their simplicity. The couples are each unique even though the setting is the same. They each have different trust issues and struggles that they have to overcome. It is funny in parts and features women with strong and fiery characters that bring their men to their knees. It involves a knowing older maid who often offers the most hilarious advice to the couples when they least expect it. All around a great combination with a beautiful ending for everyone.

This box set includes 3 really good books: Borderland Bride, Borderland Beauty, and Borderland Betrayal. The three stories take place at Thornewall Castle, but each story is different and unique, and each can be read as a standalone. All three are well written, providing strong emotions and love that make them believable and heartfelt.
The book I liked best was Borderland Bride because it truly drew me in with the beautiful story line and the personalities of the main characters, Jake and Isabel. This is definitely a box set worth reading, with those different story lines providing ample variety for the reader. You can’t go wrong with this one.
I truly enjoyed reading each of the books in this box set. All of them had several things in common. The characters flow from one story to another. Also, the H/h are exceptional people bold, fearless, confident and senseless when it comes to love. Each storyline is different so there is plenty to stimulate your imagination. You will not be bored. An excellent box set and I do recommend it.
If you like historical romances, then you are in for a treat. I’ve read this author’s work before, so when I saw this book bundle about hunky nobleman brothers Dominic and Jacob as well as sea Captain, James, I couldn’t click fast enough!
All well written and super sweet. Gentle pacing and written to depict a time where women were treasured, especially titled women. With chivalry at its peak, these men were very romantic in their concern for the women they fall for.
A treasure to keep and read again and again.

Three well written books that held my interest throughout. The stories are Borderland Bride which is Lady Isabel and Jake’s story. Borderland Beauty is Lucy Montgomery and Lord Dominic of Thornewall’s story. The last one Is Borderland Betrayal which is Captain James and Ellise’s story. I would recommend this set.
Borderland Legacy three book series all stand-alone, but I liked how the secondary characters were connected in each book, all taking place at Thornewall.
Borderland Bride – Isabel runs away from her father after he has betrothed her to a cruel man. Jake rescues her from a beating by thieves in the woods. He brings her back to his brothers Keep to recover. Jake never wanted anything to do with women again after his first wife’s death, but he could not resist falling for Isabel. Isabel looked beyond Jakes large and rough exterior to the caring man inside. I liked their chemistry. I didn’t like Jake’s pushing her away.
Borderland Beauty – Lord Dominic is needing a wife to help run his Keep. Lucy lives on neighboring lands but doesn’t like Dominic because of his comments about her years ago when they were young. Turns out there was a betrothal contract between their families that has come to light. Dominic is ready to go through with the betrothal once he sees how beautiful Lucy has become, but she is not ready to look past his arrogance. I liked that Lucy stood up to Dominic and made him work for her trust.
Borderland Betrayal – Captain James takes his job responsibilities very seriously. Ellise has secrets in her past and is just getting by. I loved how hard they fell for each other, even though neither wanted to. The epilogue 5 years in the future tied all the stories together beautifully!
What a great deal on some seriously entertaining and engaging romantic adventures. You get three count them three handsome, charming rogues and three witty and sassy ladies…. Loved it!
Each story is a different couple with a different journey yet they are all highly entertaining, emotional, witty, fun, sexy and passion filled reads.

Borderland Bride……5 stars
I loved Jake and Isabel’s story! Jake is a giant of a man with a permanent scowl on his face but once he meets Isabel and saves her from a sure death at the hands of border reivers, his gentleness and warm heart shows itself to her. So much passion and heartbreak throughout the story with some twists and turns that keeps you from wanting to put the book down until you’re finished.
Borderland Beauty….5 stars
This one is Dominic and Lucy’s story. I loved the interactions between them….he’s trying to charm her and she wants nothing to do with him! This is such a great story and I loved how Dominic tries to prove that he’s not just a rake with the ladies and there’s more to him than that. Lucy has no confidence in herself and part of it is due to something she had overheard him saying about her years earlier. Lots of action and romance….
Borderland Betrayal….5 stars
This is James and Ellise’s story and I was so happy that James got his story as well:) He appears as a secondary character in the other two books and now it’s time for his HEA. He is such a strong and honourable knight and Captain of Thornewall. Ellise appears to be a thief and a fallen woman but she holds many secrets and when she ends up at Thornewall as a healer and to help with the birth of Dominic and Lucy’s twins, she and James cannot hide their passion for each other but her secrets come between them. My heart ached for them and what they have to go through before they get their HEA. All in all, I loved these 3 stories and give them all a solid 5.
