Myranda is a young woman more interested in staying alive than being a hero. Orphaned by a continent-spanning war that has gone on for decades too long and shunned for failing to support it, she has been on the move since she was only a child. One can hardly blame her when she thinks that the chance discovery of a fallen soldier’s priceless cargo is the moment that will change her life. No one … could predict just how great that change would be. It will lead her through an adventure of rebels and generals, of wizards and warriors, and of beasts both noble and monstrous. Each step of the way will take her closer to the truth of her potential, of the war, and of the fate of her world.

Will likely leave you curious to see how the story and the author develops
At times I thought this book jumped from one scene to another, but overall I enjoyed the book and would like to read the rest in the series.
Wow, what a story! It’s hard to put this book down.
This is a good introduction to a new world setting. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Well worth the read.
The world this book takes place in is fully immersive with an understanding of the unique characters and the, for lack of a better term, NPCs. The main character doesn’t seem to veer too much from her personal strengths. There is an element of intuition for the characters I deeply appreciate as I feel it makes them more real, and arguably more …
I have read the series twice. Very enjoyable.
Excellent reading. Couldn’t put it down. Went online to buy the rest of the series because I had to know what happened.
I enjoyed reading this book and found it very intertaining.
Good book, a little fast paced but really good characters that you feel for. The combat was realistic in that the characters kept getting their butts whooped because of inexperience.
I love this book and the sequels that follow it. The characters pull you in and you want to know what will happen to them.
I sat and read all three books. Loved them.
built the world to introduce the next book in the series, looking forward to that.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo. The characters are engaging, leading the reader to want to see what happens to them next. The world is intriguing, with the characters moving from one dangerous/unique/beatiful setting into the next as they each pursue their own quest. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in …
It’s started out good but then descended into fantasy novel cliche about half way through.
I got the first book and had trouble putting it down to be responsible about sleeping before work! I already bought the next two books so I could read on! Very enjoyable experience, thank you!
It was an okay book, BUT I hate books that don’t have an ending – you have to purchase the next book in the series….
This one was hard to read. I think it was the author’s first book, and it looks like there was a paperback published later that might have fixed some of the problems. But the ebook version I read was full of mistakes and strange inconsistencies, and there weren’t any chapter breaks.
That said, I think the story itself is redeemable. I would like …
Such a satisfying read, I read the next two books in the series.
I love this so much
