The Bonesetter’s Daughter, was for me, a far better book than Amy Tan’s Joy Luck Club. I imagine its beacuse she takes the reader back to China, land of myth, secrets, and superstition. Beautifully rendered and impossible to put down!
Great read. I couldn’t put it down. Great characters and wonderful relationships.
Amy Tan is a wonderful writer. This book is so mystical and totally engrossing. I could not put it down!
Love Amy Tan’s family sagas. Wish I had had this one when I was dealing with my one mother’s dementia. Her insight, humor, love are truly inspiring. What a wonderful idea, instead of fighting the disease and letting it get the best of you, let it take you on your loved one’s journey through life.
Interesting to learn customs of the Chinese
Basically a story of domestic drama — mothers and daughters and cantankerous men — “Bonesetter’s Daughter” is rich with subtle detail and plot twists. It takes place partly in mid-20th century China and thus contains some exotic but strangely familiar cultural norms.
This was a heavy but moving book. Amy Tan writes beautifully.
Quite boring
I have never read an Amy Tan book I didn’t LOVE! She touches at the heart of women’s issues and humanity! I miss her writing!
I really liked this book. It was a fascinating story and I could not put it down until it was finished. I was a little confused by some of the jumping around in time periods, but it was still a wonderful book.
Loved it! I’ve read everoAmy Tan and does not disappoint! Couldn’t put it down
as all of amy tan’s books, the bonesetters ‘s daughter blends the past with present. The history of the mother shades & opens the mind of the girl. we are all combinations of the past & the present… perhaps determining our futures.
Amy Tan always paints a complete picture of her characters’ world — believable and interesting.
Amy Tan is always good!
Amy Tan is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints!
Great book. I enjoyed the development of the characters and the stories the characters were given, their rich background and their relationships.
Loved this one!!!
I want more Amy tan
Amy Tan does it again. This is a beautiful story of a daughter and her struggles in china long ago. The characters are engaging and the journeys and sacrifices made by the women in this epic tale are haunting. Beautiful work, poetic writing, deeply felt moments of what it means to be a woman.
