Lincoln Rhyme is a modern day Sherlock Holmes. I thought of the movie when I purchased this on Audible.com and although they were different from each other, there were times during the movie when the actor was just acting with no words and I wondered why they peered their eyes at certain times and why they did things in certain ways. The books answered these questions for me, it was great knowing what was going on in their heads. Although I absolutely loved the movie, the book was even better. This is usually true and sometimes it’s not. I was so relieved that it was true in this situation. I like the direction the book went as opposed to the movie. Don’t get me wrong, the movie was great, but the book left room for future stories with these characters especially the aide. The Narrator was not what I expected. He was a bit mechanical and seemed at times that he was angry to read this book. I want to avoid this Narrator in the future. Sorry, not Sorry. Deaver creates characters in a way that they can write the story themselves. Meaning, you know what a character will and won’t do so you come to expect certain things from them, and you know when they will get an attitude at certain people. I will be purchasing more audible books from Deaver.
Extremely clever with events fast-paced and complex in a challenging and enjoyable fashion. Descriptions of characters grab attention with the detail without becoming over-worked and boring.
Lincoln Rhyme is a brilliant forensic investigator. Amelia Sachs, a street cop in NY. Following an anonymous tip about a possible homicide, Sachs is canvassing the area when she finds a body buried beside the railroad tracks. Rhyme and Sachs team up to hunt down the killer who becomes known as the Bone Collector. It is a race against time as the body count climbs and the next victim is being readied for an agonizing death. The book kicks butt and puts the movie to shame.
This is still one of my favorites! Love all the Lincoln Rhymes novels!
I am a mystery fan, and if I don’t have high respect for the book, I don’t finish it.
I couldn’t put it down, but it scared me silly. I haven’t been able to bring myself to read any oof his books! But he is a really good author and very very believable. My imagination is really too vivid, and I get nightmares and my husband really complains about some of reading material
Did not want to put it down. on to the next
I saw the movie years ago and I loved it, but i must say the book is way, way, better. I couldn’t stop reading it. The characters were awesome.
Great read for summer days; the antagonist is heartless and his murders horrendous, but the unusual investigative team pulls out in front when a toddler’s life is threatened. There are many unanticipated wrinkles, and the ending had me hanging: the first in the criminologist Lincoln Rhyme series. Don’t start if you want to avoid getting hooked.
This was the first Lincoln Rhyme novel I read and it remains my favorite. You’ll love Rhyme; you’ll love Sachs; you’ll lose sleep because you won’t be able to put it down; and if you’re anything like me, it will be the start of a beautiful friendship. Enjoy!
Deaver is immensely talented nd The Bone Collector, for me, is one of his best books.
I found it too gruesome to finish.
Gross. Couldn’t finish it.
The book is definitely different from the movie and should be read. I found both the book and the movie interesting and entertaining.
As with almost all of Deaver’s books, very readable and entertaining. Plots are clever and reading fast- paced.
Great crime mystery with a unique duo. I didn’t want to stop reading this.
a strange character with outstanding intrigue
A great read that keeps you riveted.
It’s different from the movie but it’s a page turner and I like it just as much now as I did when I first read this book years ago.
I love the Lincoln Rhymes character
