Allie Sutton just got a new job.Not one she wants, and definitely not one she’s prepared for. She hadn’t seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone) … the professional football team he owned for the last twenty years.Luke Pierson does not want a new boss. What he wants is to be a good father to his … be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn’t need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team’s chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.
For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it’s a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.

Karla Sorensen keep us turning pages and wanting more in this series! Great read!
A Total TOUCHDOWN!
Five big SWOONY Stars!!
Nothing is better to me than a single dad story with a dad that is 100% into his kid. And let me just say that Luke Pierson is that dad and that man.
Luke Pierson Quarterback for the Washington Wolves, is a single Dad to an adorable 6 yr old little lady named Faith. Being in the spotlight isn’t something Luke likes. He’s a simple man who keeps his personal and family life quiet.
Alexandra Sutton’s whole life changes once her father passes away. Not only did she inherit his money, she also inherited his football team. Surprised at this Allie steps up to the game by asking for help, reading over all the paperwork, getting to know the players. She’s determined.
When these two first meet, it doesn’t go over very smoothly. Like at all. And then when these two find out who each other is the story flips and things change. We watch as the tension builds with these two and then when the damn breaks it’s so sexy and so complicated. But once there is a leak everything changes. Hearts are broken and feelings swell to new heights.
Then there is a grand gesture that will make your heart swell so big that you feel as though it will pop. These two characters are meant for each other and once all the messiness of everything subsides, their love conquers all.
A book you won’t want to put down and a story that will leave you breathless.
Highly recommended.
I absolutely fell in love with this book, savored reading every page, I truly did not want it to end. The writing was full of witty banter and steamy slow burn romance. The sexual tension and buildup to the first kiss had me brimming with anticipation and it was worth it! I am a sports romance junkie and this book ticked all the boxes for me. There is something so intriguing about the sports world and this story was written so that even a non sports fan will love it! What made it even better was the strong, powerful lead female character, a woman I could look up to, taking charge and not backing down when faced with adversity.
Allie Sutton just inherited the last thing she ever wanted, her fathers beloved football team, the Washington Wolves. Being second best to the football team her whole life, to say Allie is less than thrilled to be the new owner is an understatement. Luke Pierson, sexy single father to an adorable daughter, Faith, is the star quarterback of the Wolves. Burned in the past by the media, the last thing Luke is looking for is a woman in his life, especially a Bombshell knockout like Allie. And as fate would have it, Luke happens to be neighbors with Allie, a fact that leads to a hilarious and infuriating pink frosting disaster. The push and pull between hate and love of these two characters set the foundation for a beautiful story of finding love even when the odds are against it.
I absolutely adored this fun & sexy story!
Allie & Luke captured my heart immediately and I never wanted to stop reading. Their chemistry sizzled and sparked and made me tingle with excitement in all the right places.
I laughed and swooned and even had tears of happiness at the end.
Little Miss Turbo sometimes stole the show. She was the sweetest, and just perfect for this story.
One of my favorite scenes was the S. I. photo shoot. Loved, loved, loved the looks and the sexual tension and the vibes happening in that scene! I *felt* it. So. good.
This was very well-written and I can’t wait to read the next book!
11/14/18…EDITED TO ADD: I just listened to the audiobook of this…AMAZING!! Narrators are PERFECT!! I loved it before, but now I’m head over heels. Excellent audio!
Sweet, easy read….3.5 Stars
This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed this sweet, heartwarming story of finding love. If you are a football fan or simply someone looking for a sweet enemies to lovers book, you will enjoy this one.
Single dads is one of my reading jams so I wanted to check this one out. I’ve never read anything by this author before and I thought this one was really good. Luke was kinda rough and super judgey towards her in the beginning but after a while Allie won him over. See, never judge a book by its cover as they say. There was a part at the end that made my cold heart go awwwwww, it was really sweet. I’ll for sure check out her other books!
4 1/2 out of 5 stars
This is the first book for me by this author. I was looking forward to a rom/com and though it wasn’t as funny as I was anticipating, it was a great book!
Luke is a single dad who also happens to be a professional quarterback. Allie is an only child whose father just passed away. Luke is such a devoted dad that I found myself falling for him hard almost the second I started reading this story. Luke and his daughter, Faith, live in a modest home. Allie moves in next door.
Luke and Allie as neighbors instantly hate each other! Their first encounter was something I won’t forget, but when I realized their working relationship, I thought back on that front porch encounter and laughed. AND yet that hate, connected them and that connection was felt through the whole story!
Their relationship goes through several stages and the ups and downs almost killed me. I felt so many emotions, but I cried happy tears at the end because I felt it was exactly as it should be. I think that this author just got herself a new fan 🙂
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
After seeing the cover for The Bombshell Effect all over Instagram, I checked out the blurb, realized it sounded right up my alley and jumped right in when I saw it was available through Kindle Unlimited. I love a good sports romance — even more when it throws in women in (sadly) untraditional roles — and I’m always down to discover a new author. This was a fun little book that was fairly low on angst and delivered a few laughs and swoons along the way.
Smart, strong, driven heroines are a favorite of mine, so it wasn’t at all surprising that I basically loved Allie from the start. Losing her father, who she wasn’t all that close to but, you know, was still her dad… and inheriting a football team wasn’t exactly in her plans, but she jumped right in. Sure, there were players who wouldn’t take her seriously and that was a problem, but her biggest problem was with her player — and neighbor — Luke. I thought Luke was mostly a good guy — and a good father to his adorable daughter Faith — but some of his preconceived notions about Allie bothered me. Thankfully she was quick to set him straight.
I’m a sucker for a good, slow burn so I was totally digging what was happening between Luke and Allie. They had great chemistry and I’m always down for a forbidden romance between a boss and employee. I only had one complaint about how everything went down and I’m just gonna lay it out there. As I said, I love a good slow burn, but I also need the payoff. When Luke and Allie first hooked up, it was basically a fade to black and I was seriously disappointed. They had so much chemistry and the build up was so good, but it kinda felt like someone popped my balloon. The characters had gotten under my skin at that point and I had a vested interest in knowing how everything wrapped up, but I took an itty bitty break from the book before finishing it.
Despite my disappointment with the lack of sexy times (is that a weird thing to be disappointed by?) I really enjoyed The Bombshell Effect. When it was all said and done, I could look past that and focus on the feels. I just had to adjust my expectations a bit, but once I did, I got back to enjoying the story between Luke, Allie and even Faith. It was a fun, cute story from a new-to-me author.
FAVORITE QUOTES
“Men are so unbelievably stupid,” I hissed. This is why God created vibrators.
“You know nothing about me. You know nothing about the type of person I am. I’ll treat you with the respect you deserve as the team quarterback, but you sure as hell better do me the same courtesy as the team owner. I may still be getting my footing, but I bet I could make all sorts of trouble for you if you ever felt the need to remind me what women who look like me do or say in your obnoxious, golden boy presence.”
“I want someone who doesn’t sit back and look at how the landscape of their life will change by adding me to it and weigh whether I’m worth the change. I want them to pull me into it with both hands and make it something new without a second thought.”
I love a good sports romance and The Bombshell Effect delivers. This was my first book by Karla Sorensen, but definitely won’t be my last one.
After the death of her long estranged father, the last thing Allie expects is to inherit the thing he loved more than her- his football team. She’s a model and a failed business woman, she feels like she’s definitely not cut out to own a team. The last thing Luke Pierson, single father and aging star quarterback, expects is that his gorgeous new neighbor that he rudely dismissed as a groupie is actually his new boss. Luke just wants to play football and take care of his daughter, all while staying out of the spotlight. But that becomes increasingly harder when all the focus lately seems to be on Allie’s new position. They both realize that for the sake of the team, they can’t constantly be at odds with each other. But as they form a tentative truce, they both start to realize that perhaps the strong emotions they were feeling towards each other wasn’t just loathing, but perhaps something else…
Sorensen did a great job of writing something with just the right amounts of fun and heat and football, but while also including enough angst to make the book super compelling. I adored that both characters were well written and had interesting backstories. Neither Luke or Allie were anywhere near perfect and I really enjoyed their journeys of each overcoming their baggage to become the right fit for each other.
I’m not always a fan of single parent storylines because I don’t always care for the way some authors write kids or the relationships between the new significant other and the child. But I felt like Sorensen absolutely nailed it with Faith. She was an important part of the story and her interactions with both her dad and with Allie were so incredibly heartwarming. I also appreciated that the inclusion of Faith highlighted what a good guy Luke could be, which I felt really balanced out how much I started to dislike him at the beginning of the novel for his less than kind treatment of Allie.
But as much as I liked Luke, Allie really made the book for me. She had her own set of insecurities and drama in her backstory, but I loved how strong and tough and SMART Allie was, both just as a woman and in her new role as a team owner. Sorensen took the opportunity to touch on sexism, especially when it comes to sports and business and this crazy idea that women can’t be beautiful and good at their jobs, and I loved her for it.
The Bombshell Effect was a great first peek at just how smart and talented of a writer Karla Sorensen is and I’m definitely looking forward to catching up on some of her earlier books and seeing what else might happen with further books about Luke’s teammates.
Luke Pierson doesn’t do media and he definitely doesn’t go for the female fans that throw themselves at him, especially not the new blonde neighbor. Except, she really is attractive and her smart mouth has been feature in one too many fantasies. Allie Sutton doesn’t do jerks and she doesn’t do football, at least she didn’t until her father left his beloved team to her. There’s got to be a purpose to it, so she takes it on hoping to find her way in a world she knows little about. She never expected to find joy in the sport, in the managing of a football empire, and she certainly was not expecting her surly neighbor to be the star quarterback. What begins as respectful dislike becomes sneaky glances and soon follows an affair that thrusts them into the spotlight and makes everything complicated.
“Rich. Powerful. Confident.
And I hated her at that moment because she was so beautiful that it hurt to look at her.”
I am one of the most judgemental sports romance fans, I rarely love everything about them and those that I do I covet and read often…The Bombshell Effect just joined that pile. From every single player to the very top boss to the football field and the world she created around it, Karla Sorensen brings the world of the Washington Wolves to life. It was such a realistic, engaging, and romantic story. I automatically fell in love with Luke Pierson and I had so much compassion for Allie Sutton. Both had such high walls up, desperate to not repeat the past and terrified of finding themself in the spotlight in the wrong light. I also laughed a lot, loving that these enigmatic characters with so much personal success couldn’t understand the concept of opening up for one another and allowing love in. Their success as a couple seemed impossible, which made for some highly entertaining dialogue, some terrific scenes featuring a sassy six year old, and several high-tension moments in the stadium.
“He looked like he’d fought a battle-dirty and exhausted and happy. And … hot. Okay, he looked hot. And sweaty. And hot.”
Luke and Allie had the kind of chemistry that burned like a bonfire with lighter fluid on it, it definitely wasn’t just a spark. I loved how Karla focused on each character dealing with their personal life stuff, spent a significant amount of time on the field and game time, but also created a romance that flowed seamlessly. It’s rare to not get lost with so much going on, but rather than confusion I just felt myself slipping into the characters lives like I was just another friend along for their wild romance. Luke was such a manly man and his chapters really felt like he wasn’t just some character, but a real guy going through the torturous emotions of realizing he’s falling for his boss…who also happens to be the neighbor he’s been a real jerk to. Allie is described as a bombshell and much of her actions backed up that description, but she also is presented as a smart businesswoman filled with passion and strength. It’s obvious from the start these two belong together, they’re like yin and yang, but the road it takes for them to figure it out is what makes this book so good. Of course, it’s not all football and lust driven emotions, there’s also a heartfelt story with Luke protecting his daughter’s future and Allie discovering who her father really was beyond the football team he loved.
“It was a realization that came far too late. Because I could never, ever forget that she felt like this.”
Karla Sorensen was a new to me author when I picked up The Bombshell Effect, but she won’t be after finishing it. I devoured this book and cannot wait to read more from her, because this is definitely how you do contemporary romance. With just the right amount of serious and a dash of hilarity, The Bombshell Effect is a must-read for sports romance fans.

What a sweet love story!!!
If you know me, you know I usually go towards darker reads, but Karla is an author that I love and I will read whatever she write.
Luke and Allie have such a sweet, fun, heart-breaking, heart-touching love story.
Luke is the starting quarterback for the Washington Wolves. When the owner of his company dies, he has no idea who is going to be taking over. All Luke knows is that he needs to continue to be a leader for his team and the best dad he can be for his daughter.
Allie is a young women whose entire life just changed. Her father just passed away and she has moved into his lake-side cabin to figure everything out. What she doesn’t expect is her neighbor to be a hot, single dad.
Problem is, Allie has no idea who Luke is and Luke has no idea how important Allie is going to become to him. Their first and second meetings don’t go very well, and that is saying it nicely.
They find out soon enough though that their lives are going to be interconnected in ways that they never could have dreamed.
Now they both have to figure out how to deal with it.
This was a great story. It was a easy, pretty quick read and would totally recommend it to someone else.
And then there is Faith, Luke’s daughter who will just steal your heart.
And I hope that Dayvon gets his own book.
The Bombshell Effect by Karla Sorensen is a story filled with laughs, romance and just the perfect amount of angst to make any readers heart skip a beat…or two! This book was so freaking amazing and I could hardly put it down, which is why I DEVOURED it in only a few short hours. It’s hard to believe that this is only the third book I’ve read from this author because they just keep getting better and better! I can’t wait to one day go back and read ALL of her past releases because there is no doubt in my mind that they are going to be just as EXTRAORDINARY as this one!
Allie Sutton and Luke Pierson’s chemistry was off the charts and so freaking hot! I can’t even begin to explain how their emotions bled from the pages and I seriously couldn’t get enough of these two! Oh and did I mention that Luke is a single dad…let’s just say INSTANT-LOVE on my end for that little fact alone. I mean I can’t be the only one who loves a good single dad romance. There is just something about a man raising his young daughter on his own that makes my heart go pitter-patter! I absolutely loved how sweet, caring, and gentle he is with his little girl. SO ADORABLE! Your hearts are just going to melt instantly!
ALL. THE. FEELS. The Bombshell Effect had ALL the feels and ALL the LOL moments and ALL the heart you could ever desire! I fell in MEGA TIME love with Allie and Luke! They had sparks galore and sexy times as well as those moments that made me laugh till my sides hurt and then there was those heart-wrenching moments that took my breath away and made me tear up. And that ending…OH MY GOODNESS, my heart SOARED and I don’t think I EVER smiled so big!
This romantic comedy was amazing. It lit me up on on the inside and made it feel like the fourth of July with all the fireworks this book produced and made me feel. Karla Sorensen wrote just the absolute BESTEST (yea I know that isn’t an actual word or how you should say it, but that is how I feel) sports rom-com OF ALL FREAKING TIME!
The Bombshell Effect gets a WILL HAVE YOU INVESTED HEART AND SOUL TEN GRAND CANYON SIZED STARS!
this was a pretty good read and definitely not your normal sports read. Normally the player is a player and has all the women and the trail of broken hearts to prove it. In this case we have a single dad who has been burned by the media and therefore stays far away from it. As things go it doesn’t have a bunch of sex which I am good with but I really would have like to have more character development. I like the style of the author that is new to me but had a hard time connecting with the characters. I did love that she ends up being kick as$ and steps up when it’s needed. All in all a read worth the time and pennies.
After reading and loving The Bombshell Effect by new-to-me-author Karla Sorensen, I’m now a dedicated fangirl. This contemporary sports romance is swoony entertainment from beginning to end and checks every box on my must-read list. Luke is a mega-star quarterback and dedicated single dad to an adorable daughter, and he tries to deny his attraction to his new boss and neighbor, Allie. But the more he gets to know her, there is absolutely no way he can resist their insane chemistry, even though getting involved might not be the best decision for either of them. Their love story is the perfect blend of tender and steamy, and The Bombshell Effect is a sigh-worthy football romance you’ll want to read again and again.

This was my very first book by Karla Sorensen, and boy was I glad that I picked it up. As many of you know, book funks happen to me with quite the frequency lately. And getting out of it is no small feat. The Bombshell Effect managed that by being a fresh take on two favorite tropes – sports romance and enemies to lovers.
Within a few pages I was immediately drawn into the book.
Allie Sutton and Luke Pierson met under certain circumstances that put them on opposite sides of the fence so to speak. Immediate tension and sexual attraction sizzled and made their day to day contact increasingly entertaining and emotionally charged. Both, were mature characters and were willing to put their animosity to the side for the better good, until it just wasn’t possible anymore.
When they finally submitted to their passion, it was undeniably HOT. I literally vibrated and couldn’t prevent a sigh from escaping. I was utterly enchanted by Allie and Luke. Their love story wasn’t without hurdles or hardships, but they did their best, and I loved them only more for it.
I loved their equal footing, the way they could be themselves around each other. There were no hidden agendas, or expectations. Just Allie and Luke, two consenting adults, going after what they wanted. And WOW they made it work.
But there was so much more I loved about this story.
Besides the main couple, there were quite a few supporting characters that deserve their own story, and according to the author there is a good chance that they will get their chance. I honestly can’t wait to read more of this cast. Because of the way the author plotted this story, as well as her story telling, writing and dialogues – this book just worked for me. I made the mistake of starting The Bombshell Effect in the evening after work, and had to reluctantly put it down at midnight, otherwise I would have read until 4am on a weekday, and that hasn’t happened in AGES!!
I’m keeping a close watch on the author’s next release, and probably will be reading some of her backlog. The author’s writing is just too good to be ignored.
4.5 Stars
This is a book I’m so glad that I read. I have been gobbling up single dad books so that’s what drew me to this one after reading the blurb. Then on top of that Luke is a football player. I’m sold. I really loved Allie. She’s a character to admire because has a spine of steel. This shows how it’s stereotypical for Allie to be judged on her looks, but you have to delve deeper to she’s more than what’s on the outside. One of my favorite parts is her interactions with Luke’s daughter. Faith is a little cutie. The characters and storyline are what makes this such a great book.I was hooked right from the beginning and had a hard time putting this one down. I was so invested in Luke and Allie. I would definitely recommend this book because it delivers on the feels, humor, and heat. Well rounded book that will win you over right from the beginning.
I am not sure why I never read Karla Sorensen before, but let me tell you, I am going to rectify that soon! I absolutely loved The Bombshell Effect. It was such a great story that had a bit of it all! It was a single dad, enemies-to-lovers, work and sports romance that I devoured in one sitting!
Luke Pierson knows what matters to him. His daughter and his job as the quarterback for the Washington Wolves. End of story. He has valued his time with the team and the owner has treated him well. But when the owner passes away, his life is about to take a turn he never expected. I loved Luke. He was such a good dad, and he was caring, protective and strong, even as he kept so much locked up.
When Allie Sutton’s father passes away, she feels grief for a man she barely knew but always loved. His work always came first and she always felt a bit lost. She has tried to find her calling, but so far, she has only been stumbling along. Now she is the owner of her father’s most beloved possession, the Washington Wolves professional football team. Though Allie could be insecure at times, she was never one to hide. She was truly beautiful, inside and out, strong, intelligent and caring.
When she decides to introduce herself to her new neighbor, Luke, and his daughter, the last thing she expected was to be treated so rudely and dismissed. Whatever, she can just ignore him. Imagine both of their shock when they discover she is the new owner, and his boss. Can Luke and Allie find a way to put their differences aside and work together?
Luke has always prided himself with being in control. So how has Allie passed his defenses? She is all he can think about, but he can’t offer her a future. Allie wants to succeed as the owner a professional football team and decides to jump right in. But she can’t ignore what Luke ignites in her. Even if it is wrong, right? Can Luke and Allie find a way for future or is it all over before it even began?
The Bombshell Effect was a great read, with characters I loved and a story that captivated me. I loved Allie and Luke so much and Luke’s daughter, Faith stole the show often, as did their friends. This was such a great read and one I highly recommend.
4.5 stars! Loved it! Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Allie tends to make valid points, “men are so unbelievably stupid,” I hissed. This is why God created vibrators.” I don’t think Luke appreciates some of the outfits his woman has to wear for the media, “who the h*** thought that was a good idea? Who dressed her? Shouldn’t she be wearing a power suit? Maybe a turtleneck? A muumuu. That would be best. Didn’t we have a black and red muumuu, for the love of all things holy?” I freakin loved this book, I’m seriously hoping its a start of a new series, because I would just love to see other players get a story as well
The Bombshell Effect was a feely and fun novel. A woman who has been living the expat life, Allie comes back to the US when her father dies, and she inherits his football team. When the sexy neighbor, with the cute little girl, who is short and gruff with Allie ends up being a star on her new team, her life really moves in a direction she wasn’t expecting. She’s a bit damaged and it just makes her more perfect for Luke
Luke is a famous athlete who has been burned by the past. He got his sweet little girl out of the deal, but it left him scarred. He doesn’t trust easily and can be pessimistic about new people in his life. At the same time, he’s down to earth, and understandable. I really loved watching Allie and Luke peel back each other’s layers.
The Bombshell Effect was a great read and unexpectedly thought provoking. It meshed in current events with the flip flop of the traditional hero boss/employee heroine troupe, and it felt realistic while still giving me the fun escape from real life I crave with a book.
A MUST READ from me.
