Allie Sutton just got a new job.Not one she wants, and definitely not one she’s prepared for. She hadn’t seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone) … the professional football team he owned for the last twenty years.Luke Pierson does not want a new boss. What he wants is to be a good father to his … be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn’t need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team’s chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.
For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it’s a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.

I’m literally dead. DEAD, I tell you. Shooketh from the amazingness that is The Bombshell Effect and Karla Sorensen’s killer writing. Holy WOW. I absolutely devoured this book, from the very first word to the very last, and then proceeded to lick every juicy drop from my fingers as I sat there wishing the story wasn’t over, wishing I could stay within this world — with these characters — just a little longer. And that is the BEST feeling.
The Bombshell Effect is proof that Karla Sorensen can write humor, heart, and angst in a harmony that should be illegal. I didn’t just love this book, I inhaled it, making it a permanent piece of who I am — and I’ll never let it go.
Let me start by saying that my favorite thing about Sorensen’s writing is how SMART it is. Her writing is so witty, so heartfelt, and so thoughtfully produced that every sentence pulled me deeper and deeper into the story. I could see the world, feel the characters — hell, even taste the cupcakes shoved into Luke’s pretty boy face. Sorensen has a way of pulling you into her worlds with ease, making it feel not as if you’re reading a book, but as if you’ve closed your eyes and leapt into a dream world that you never want to leave. It’s magical!
And, as much as I loved the Bachelors on the Ridge series, The Bombshell Effect highlighted Sorensen’s talents even more so. This book was SO well-written. It was hilarious, steamy, and it held just the right amount of moments to pack an emotional punch. More than that? It was ANGSTY — which is my favorite brand of romance. Enemies to lovers, with a boss/employee flair? YES, PLEASE! And Sorensen KILLED me with her angst. She nails the small touches, the lingering gazes, the heavy silences. It’s all that broody goodness that makes me squirm and flip the pages faster. I couldn’t get enough!
What was most surprising for me with The Bombshell Effect was the incredible tact with which Sorensen tackles feminism. Allie is perhaps the strongest heroine I’ve read this year — and she owns it. She’s fierce, battling issues of sexism in a heavily male-dominated industry as she takes on the role of football team owner. And she does it in ways that I didn’t expect. For instance, there’s this photo shoot scene where she (and her team) really grabbed sexism by the balls and squeezed hard, playing into the fact that just because Allie is an attractive woman doesn’t mean she should hide it now that she’s in a powerful position. You can be powerful without being “hot,” but you can also be YOU — hot, sexy, pretty, beautiful, whatever — regardless of what title you hold. There are little gems like this sprinkled throughout the story that will give every female reader a little swell of pride, a little flame of power, and a little motivation to go kick ass on their goals. Truly amazing.
I could go on and on about this story, the author, and how much I absolutely loved every word I read. This is easily a top read of 2018 for me, and further proof that Karla Sorensen is one of my favorite authors.
If you like sports romances, angst, humor, and heat, this is one release you CANNOT miss.
The Bombshell Effect was phenomenal! I was hooked from the very beginning and could not stop reading! From their fiery first meeting, Luke and Allie stole my heart with their strong personalities and hot chemistry! I loved how their relationship developed and grew into something so beautiful.
3.75 Stars In preparation for The Lie, and the fact I’ve had this on my kindle for over 8 months, I decided to dip into an author I’m a big fan of’s most talked about series. It didn’t disappoint. It was pretty low angst, and was so fast paced I read it in one sitting. I was a big fan of Allie and really liked any scene with Faith in. It took a long time for me to warm up to Luke but I don’t think there’s a sports romance I don’t like…so there’s that. Bring on The Lie.
This was a very enjoyable story,I really loved it.
Allie and Luke’s romance starts very rocky, they are neighbours and then so much more when After her father dies Allie inherits an NFL Team.Luke is the teams quarterback.
But even though they don’t get along they can’t seem to deny the attraction between them and when they call a truce thats when the sparks start to fly.
The Bombshell effect is a great read and I couldn’t put it down,I loved the characters and how the story played out.Karla Sorensen’s writing is quite addictive because I was totally enthralled.
Brilliant book.
5 Stars.
*4 Stars*
This was my first book by Karla Sorensen, and I’ll come back for more. I loved the sound of this book when I read the synopsis, and it was also recommended to me by a book loving friend. I always enjoy enemies to lovers books, as well as sports romance, so this one was a no brainer for me.
I liked our main characters, although it did take me a little bit to warm up to them. I enjoyed the way things played out, however I wished there was more development in terms of them understanding each other, especially given some preconceived notions they each had about the other.
I like the secondary characters in this book, and the ending was really great. A good read, and I will continue this series.
This is the first book in the series and the first book that I have read by this author. It is a great book. You get football (it’s not hockey but it’ll do), hot tattooed football QB, a hot badazz beautiful boss, and sparks hot enough to set the field on fire. What else do you want? But your in luck because it’s presented with a great cast of characters, snappy witty dialogue, a scandal or two, and a happy ever after. I am glad that I took the opportunity to read The Bombshell Effect and I would recommend it as a great story for any sports romance lovers out there. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I loved this book so much. Allie and Luke has such great chemistry, and I loved everything about it. I also loved how Allie’s character grew throughout the book. Her privileged life threw her a curveball, she grabbed it, and ran with it. Luke was really her perfect match when it came to that because he didn’t feel intimidated by it, and ended up loving her more for it.
Wonderful Book!
This is my first book by this author, and I loved it! Great story, great conflict, great resolution! Luke and Allie have chemistry for days, add in a precocious little girl and it’s a winner in my book!
Loved the series
I enjoyed reading this book and liked the writing style.
NO SPOILERS!
Karla Sorensen created a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, and entertaining standalone sports romance with The Bombshell Effect, and I LOVED Luke and Allie’s MUST READ enemies-to-lovers story!
The storyline was fantastic. I love football and I love romance, and when combined with the enemies-to-lovers trope, it’s perfection! As you can probably tell, I’m a huge fan of sports romance, especially football romance, and The Bombshell Effect has been one of my favorites. The plot was fun, engaging, and I loved it so much. Karla Sorensen did an amazing job with Luke and Allie’s story, and I was beyond happy with the conclusion.
The characters were fabulous. I loved Luke and Allie. They had wonderful personalities and I adored them to pieces. I love a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and Luke and Allie’s hate to love relationship was just what I wanted and I loved watching their love story unfold. I also loved the secondary characters, especially Luke’s daughter and fellow teammates.
The Bombshell Effect was a sweet, sexy, charming, swoon-worthy, and entertaining MUST READ standalone sports romance, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! Karla Sorensen is a new-to-me author, but I loved her prose and can’t wait to devour more from her, especially the rest of the Washington Wolves series!
I fell in love with Ally and Luke during The Marriage Effect and Focused, so it was awesome to finally dive in to their story. I knew it was going to be one for the books.
This book was everything! I loved it so much. Luke and Ally were so perfectly suited and Faith, gah, I loved her. Once I started listening I couldn’t stop, I needed to know how it was all going to play out. Single fathers are my kryptonite and add in the enemies to lovers feel it was everything I could have hoped for and more. I am loving this series. It’s filling my football loving heart with all the feels. And yeah, I shed a few tears…I couldn’t help it. Don’t judge me!
I listened to the book, but in all honesty, I wasn’t impressed with the narrators, I didn’t feel they were a good fit and I had issue with how some things were voiced – it’s all subjective though and I’m sure many will love it. I was able to overlook my issues due to the story being so enjoyable.
Loved this book and this whole series. I powered through all of them in a weekend.
I’m kicking myself for taking so long to read this book! You know that feeling of joy after reading a good book that you can’t help but revisit when you think about said book? Yeah, that is The Bombshell Effect’s effect on me. Luke Pierson is the perfect broody hero with a big, yet somewhat closed off heart. He’s just trying to do what he loves to do well, finish his career strong, and most importantly give his daughter a loving, happy life. Allie Sutton is thrown into a surprising position because of her semi-estranged father and she’s striving to prove to herself and everyone that she is exactly the type of person to tackle this bump with strength and grace. They each think the last thing they need in their life is the other, until they can no longer deny the pull between them. Their initial grumpy banter is hilarious, and their eventual intimacy is sweet and steamy. The Bombshell Effect is the right kind of sports romance with just enough tension to keep my heart in it. 5 stars for this one and I can’t wait to read more of the Washington Wolves!
When someone asks for an amazing sports romance, I always recommend The Bombshell Effect. When they asked for a hilarious story, I give the same answer because this is the perfect blend between a sports romance and romcom.
It is also the first book I’ve ever read by Karla Sorensen and this story made me a fan. She created a sports world where I wouldn’t mind living. And the characters? Let me just say 7 books prove how good and well-developed and magnetic these characters are.
The Bombshell Effect includes a hot single dad, an adorable 6-year-old, a smart and witty team owner, off-the-charts chemistry and so many funny lines that I had tears because of how much I laughed.
It was refreshing and unexpected. Also, a much-needed book!
The Bombshell Effect was a quick and easy sports romance that I finished in a day. It might also have to do with the fact that I’m reading after a month and a half hiatus and devouring books left right and centre.
As much as I wanted to love this book, I couldn’t because I had a hard time connecting with Allie and Luke. What I would have loved to read about would be Allie as the owner of Washington Wolves. I know I would have enjoyed seeing her coming to her business side and embracing herself as the owner of a famous football team.
Overall, this is a good book but wasn’t that great for me but since I’ve read a few Karla Sorensen books I know there is something out there waiting for me that will wow me.
A great enemies to lovers sports read with a forbidden element. Sizzling hot chemistry between Luke and Allie will have you hooked throughout this storyline. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.
Loved it
Overall I enjoyed The Bombshell Effect. It was a good sports romance. I would rate it higher if I connected with Allie and Luke. Sadly I didn’t and the romance wasn’t there for me. It was only on simmering lightly the surface. Luke and Faith was a highlight for me. I have a soft spot for single dads and Luke is an amazing one at that. Even though this book felt short in some ways it still makes me want to read more from the author.
OMG, I absolutely loved this one! I laughed, I cried, I held my breath, I yelled at them, I cheered for them, I swooned, and I fell in love too! Ava and Matthew are a perfect pair, despite their pasts and the baggage they bring with them. You’ll feel the heat with these too and Sorensen is great at bringing the game to life as well! Definitely a rom-com you don’t want to miss!
