From “the queen of royal fiction” (USA TODAY) comes this New York Times bestseller featuring three very different women whose fates are each bound by a bloody curse: the legacy of the Boleyn family. After the death of his third wife, Jane Seymour, King Henry VIII of England decides to take a new wife, but this time, not for love. The Boleyn Inheritance follows three women whose lives are forever … three women whose lives are forever changed because of the king’s decision, as they must balance precariously in an already shaky Tudor Court.
Anne of Cleves is to be married to Henry to form a political alliance, though the rocky relationship she has to the king does not bode well for her or for England.
Katherine Howard is the young, beautiful woman who captures Henry’s eye, even though he is set to marry Anne. Her spirit runs free and her passions run hot–though her affections may not be returned upon the King.
Jane Rochford was married to George Boleyn, and it was her testimony that sent her husband and infamous sister-in-law Anne to their deaths. Throughout the country, her name is known for malice, jealousy, and twisted lust.
The Boleyn Inheritance is a novel drawn tight as a lute string about three women whose positions brought them wealth, admirations, and power, as well as deceit, betrayal, and terror.

I liked that each chapter focused on the POV of either Jane Boleyn, Katherine Howard, or Anne of Cleves. Every depiction of Jane Boleyn has just automatically made you hate her but the author made her more complex in this when you read the thought-process of her decisions and her constant denial. In this way, it actually makes the reader pity her …
Greatest historical fiction author ever! Need I say more? The story used facts to flesh out the Great families Howard, Boleyn. It also described what they families left in their wake, or as Gregory titled the book Inheritance. That reviews of real people such as Anne of Cleves, my personal favorite. Since she is brought as a wide for Henry …
This novel follows the lives of three women following Anne Boleyn’s downfall, after Jane Seymour’s short-lived time as queen. Philippa Gregory gives us the first-person perspectives of Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII’s fourth wife, who was pretty much immediately done away with after a couple of months; Katherine Howard, his fifth wife, a young and …
Loved all her books in this series. Well researched and enthralling, even though I know this period in history very well.
This author is wonderful, I’ve read several of her books; and enjoyed them all. I’ve always been fascinated with the Tudor era, and Anne Boleyn, so I knew I would devour this book, and I did!
I really liked ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’, but I LOVED ‘The Boleyn Inheritance’! I read this every chance I got and finished it in about a week, which is no small task since I also have a 15-month-old running around.
I think what really made this book so enjoyable for me was Anne of Cleves. She had all the grace and class that Jane and Katharine …
Beautifully narrated in three voices for the three main characters.
Hauntingly depressing.
As always, the author writes a wonderful book.
I must say, that I have a very different opinion of these ladies now. Ms Gregory is a genius at take history and making it real.
As always this glimpse of history is so alive you feel you are there.
It seems there was never a dull day in the Boleyn household
While I suspect Gregory does not like the Boleyn family from some of her previous books, I find this one to be more interesting as it looks at Anne of Cleves, a little written about character in the Tudor drama. This Anne’s life was rough because Henry hated her on site. Did it comes from the Boleyn connection? No it came from the Howard …
I love her books and the historical dramas.
Another historical novel by Philippe Gregory. The continuation of the story of the royal court of Henry VIII, a few years after the events in the previous book.
It is the story of the court, palaces, and wives of King Henry VIII. King Henry is an adult king approaching the age of 50, crippled and wounded in his leg, and still reigns in the …
I love all of her books!
I liked the book, but I thought The Other Boleyn Girl was much more interesting.
She is one of my favorite authors
The entire story of the Boleyn family is tragic although their ambitions were a large part of the cause of their downfall. Reading this book although it is historical fiction is informative and entertaining. Well written.
Another great House of Tudor based book. Even knowing this is fictional, I felt as if I was right there in the 16th century with the history based characters.
I loved this book along with the others in the collection. The writing is so effortless. I really love how she mixes history and fiction to make such a wonderful story.
