Welcome to River Bluffs, Indiana, a cozy small town populated with charming homes, close-knit families, and the occasional deadly secret . . . House-flipper Jazzi Zanders and her cousin Jerod have found their latest project. The property, formerly owned by the late Cal Juniper, is filled with debris that must be cleared before the real renovation begins. But a trip to the attic reveals … attic reveals something more disturbing than forgotten garbage—a skeleton wearing a locket and rings that Jazzi recognizes . . .
Tests confirm that the bones belong to Jazzi’s aunt Lynda, who everyone assumed moved to New York years ago after breaking up with Cal. Soon enough, the whole family is involved, sifting through memories and rumors as they try to piece together what really happened to Lynda—and the baby she gave up for adoption. In between investigating and remodeling, Jazzi is falling for the old house’s charms—and for her gorgeous contractor, Ansel. But with surprises lurking in every nook and cranny, a killer might be waiting to demolish her dreams for good . . .

Great cozy mystery – easy read.
Very good and easy to read. Looking forward to more like this.
a good read
It was actually too easy to read. I loved the story but felt the author rushed through with little emotion and depth. Would have been much better with more emotion and more detail. Very easy to read for someone who likes this kind of book.
I really enjoyed this book, can’t wait for the next book in the series
This was a fun read. It isn’t a long book but I enjoyed the characters and the story. It was an enjoyable afternoon read.
I enjoyed the renovation parts. A little too much “romance” but I know the author also writes romance novels and I don’t read romance. Would read the next in the series but then give up if it’s half romance…I want the mystery.
good entertainment
I enjoyed it
Enjoyable cozy mystery with interesting characters.
This is how a cozy cottage mystery should be written with great characters, solid plotting, hometown feel and some nice humor along with good crime solving.
Jazzi and her cousin Jerod flip houses and happen to find a body in one…which is bad enough, but the victim is her mother’s long lost sister. The home belonged to the dead Lynda’s beau, Cal and he is dead and buried.
The home is a mess and needs work but Jazzi likes the idea of keeping it for herself. She is quite the cook, needs a big kitchen and has family and friends to feed.
The detective, an older man called Gaff, likes Jazzi’s circle of family for information on Lynda. Lynda seems to have been quite the beauty and hustler of rich men. You meet most of the family, friends and fellow house flipper carpenter Ansel. The author has given each person such personality that you can remember Franny from Olivia, or Reuben or Isabella, and you care for them! And her description of the home she is flipping along with her cooking abilities make it a DYI home/cooking book with murder thrown in.
The plot thickens with another corpse, suspects are questioned and Jazzi is the heroine….but she doesn’t put herself at risk intentionally or try and solve the case on her own. Between her family, friends and Gaff, the case will be solved, jazzi gets a home and a hot boyfriend and life in the smalltown goes on. Definitely want to read the next one!
Great plotting, great characters, food, homes, and dead bodies….what more could you need out if a cozy mystery?
Romance was almost non-existent in this book. Mystery was OK.
