It’s nice to be naughty….After her naughty escapades the night of Lady Charlotte Grey’s engagement party, poor Lady Rebecca Burgess has been shunted off to Miss Dobson’s Finishing School—which everyone knows is little more than a reformatory for young ladies who had sullied their reputation. She would do anything to break free and to find herself in the arms of Bow Street Runner, Nigel Kent, … Kent, again.
And then the Chandramukhi Diamond is stolen.
Nigel is tasked with investigating the theft of the priceless diamond, but it’s impossible for him to keep his mind on his work when the Rebecca becomes an unlikely ally in his investigation. The diamond was stolen from the house adjoining Miss Dobson’s school, and the network of secret passageways between the buildings allows for more than just eavesdropping.
But when Nigel and Rebecca take their dalliance too far, Miss Dobson might just come between them forever and allow the diamond thief to get away to boot. Can true love rescue Rebecca from horrible treachery?
A light-hearted, fun, SUPER steamy, Regency romp—a quick read, not to be taken too seriously.

Bow Street Runner, check, check and double check. Yeah, I love them. This story is just what it states it is, a fun Regency romp not to be taken too seriously. There is a little mystery thrown in which will carry through to the other stories. I loved how unabashed and bold Rebecca was in the story, Nigel did not stand a chance. A great read for an evening after work.

Rebecca, Jo and Caro are stuck in a reformatory disguised as a finishing school and become involved in trying to solve a jewel theft. A golden opportunity for Rebecca to interact with the Bow Street runner, Nigel Kent, with whom she shares a past of sorts.
The three young women are undaunted by the scenes of debauchery they witness along the way.
Quite entertaining. Fast paced with good dialog.
A delightful adventure that brings to the forefront, ladies of Miss Dobson’s finishing school. Not really to Finish per se’ but to be reformed for their damaged reputations. Even if Rebecca did help catch a traitor of the crown, she definitely accomplished it in a scandalous way! One handsome Bow Street Runner Nigel helped her capture the villians and she longs to see him again.
Well, as fate would have it a theft happens in the building beside the school and Nigel comes to investigate. The adventure begins! There is a lot of humor and steamy attraction between these two but can it really survive?
Prepare to be entertained and left waiting for the next story in this series!
Even though her scandalous actions helped facilitate the capture of a traitor to the crown, they’ve still seen Rebecca Burgess off to Miss Dobson’s Finishing School, which is well known to be an essential reformatory for ladies with damaged reputations. She wants nothing more than to be reunited with the handsome Bow Street Runner who helped arrest her sister’s traitorous lover, but she knows her chances of seeing Nigel Kent again are slim. When a famous Indian diamond is stolen from the house next door to the school and Nigel must investigate the theft, he finds Rebecca to be an unexpected aide. There happens to be a network of secret passageways between the school and the building the diamond was stolen from, convenient for eavesdropping.
Nigel and Rebecca grow ever closer and he begins to worry that she may not want him once she learns the truth about him, but with his heart now involved he knows he must take the risk. When the hypocritical Miss Dobson learns of their relationship, her actions may be enough to keep them apart and ensure the diamond thief goes free.
I couldn’t put this book down. It was very steamy but it also had a substantial and interesting plot that kept me intrigued. I was utterly charmed by Nigel and his alpha male tendencies. This was my first read of this series and I’m looking forward to reading the other installments.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The ladies in this story are so funny and brave. Even though they are basically in a jailed finishing school, these three friends share their fantasies and laughter. They come upon a secret passage and get embroiled in a missing diamond investigation. This story is just the start of it with Rebecca finding love. Now it’s time for her friends. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This fourth book in the When The Wallflowers Were Wicked series is perfect when you look for a short, fun and naughty read.
Plus I am very found of the bow street runners as heroes.
Rebecca for a shy wallflower is rather saucy and wicked, but not on the bad way, she knows what she wants and with whom.
As for Nigel, he is on a mission but he can switches tasks if it means protecting Rebecca.
Together they form a scorching couple who will light their bedroom on fire.
A 4.5 stars read
Great book in a great series! This story has mystery, intrigue, great characters and steamy series scenes! Highly recommend the whole series.
I enjoyed this story about Rebecca and Nigel. They have their happy ending, but the theft of the diamond ends on a cliffhanger. And the stories of Rebecca’s two friends, Jo and Caro, wil be the next in this series.
Rebecca proves to be quite the detective as she and her friends help Nigel in his investigation of a missing diamond.
More secret passages are discovered and the girls get up to mischief using them.
Rebecca finds herself falling more and more in lust and in love and so does Nigel. Remember, they became acquainted in book 3 and he just can’t get her out of his mind. (In the meantime, I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book…)
The story was clever and sensual, the characters lovable and I was pleasantly entertained, so, this definitely goes onto my ‘recommended’ pile.
