But when something started stalking me, wrapping its bony fingers around me, I’m suddenly in over my head. I loved this series! It is amazing, well written and addictive. It’s captivating, full of suspense, action packed, and full of intrigue. Books 1 and 2 are in “present” time and then Book 3 takes you twenty years into the future after book 2 so you can see the new generation of characters as well as discover how previous favorites have weathered the years. Without giving spoilers, let me just say that this was by far my favorite of the bunch and Calinda B. has officially become a favorite author of mine! I highly recommend this series to anyone that likes dark fantasy and page turning suspense!
Dark fantasy. 1) Lassi is wonderful and impulsive: strong but uncertain. Steamy as well. 2) Despair grows as the story progresses. All of the relationships are strained. Life in Ballynagaul is hard. Nonetheless, it’s a story worth reading. 3) The new characters in the story add many welcome dimensions. This wraps up the overall story very well. I enjoyed it and hope that you do as well.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Book 1
OMG!!! I love Lassie. She’s so strong and snarky. And OMG, Father Ward is hot as hell. This story kept me on the edge not knowing what was going on I couldn’t put it down. Gr8 read. Looking forward to book 2
Book 2
Wow this is book 2 in the Bloodstone Trilogy. I read book 1 & loved it & couldn’t wait for book 2, and I’m so glad to read this. In book 1 you meet Lassie & Cillian along with a few other characters. In book 2 this story continues on, but can still be read as a standalone. This story mainly focuses on Siobhan & all her grief and so much more. There’s a lot happening here and I’m not going to say because I don’t want to give it away.
Book 3
Holy shiznet!! What a perfect way to end a trilogy. This book is happens about 20 years after book 2 ends. It’s a lot about Lassie & Cillian’s twins, Marie & William. Young married women are being murdered, & the Dearg-due is back. Love is found in so many strange places. Marie is lost & fighting with her place in life. William is as well, but in a different way. Paul, Siobhan’s son from her marriage to Dillan, is having an unrequited love problem. But all ends perfectly with all problems answered. Well, most of them.
I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
Grave Stones
Totally different type of Mystery/Suspense. We have Lassi who is the last living Flinn. She goes to this small town to take care of her Great Aunt Roberta’s estate. She can’t wait to leave and go back to her home in Dublin. We have Father Cillian Ward, who is the Priest that Lassi falls in Love with. Nothing is going right with clearing out the house and now there are 3 murders and she can’t leave town. So many twist and turns. I really do not want to give away the story so I will leave it to you to read.
Heart’s Blood
We have mystery and Suspense again in this second book. Siobhan son has fallen ill and no one can figure out what’s wrong. Adults are dying and no one knows why. Lassi and Cillian are having problems. Doctor Bareslin loves Siobhan, but its not to be, since she can’t get past her husbands death and the women her husband was having an affair with. Can they figure out what is happening to her son and the other children? Can they figure out why people are dying horrible deaths? Can Lassi and Cillian figure it out? Can they get past everything and come together for their child?
Iron and Salt
I loved this ending. All the characters really come to life in this book, plus a look at some new characters. Someone is killing again. Can they stop them, or is the vampire on the lose again?
I received a free copy for my honest review.
I enjoyed reading this box set, the stories all have great storyline. The interaction and chemistry between the characters is wonderful. I received these books individually as a FREE ARC copy and I voluntarily leave this review.g
What a fantastic box set this one is. Each story is wonderful. A lot of murders. Vampires. Banshees. And a great way to read each story all in one set.
I loved the series! Wonderful characters! Beautiful Irish countryside.
This is a great set. I read the stories as they were released and highly enjoyed the series.
It is one that stays with you and is not easily forgotten. It is the nature of the characters for me that keeps it so interesting. Nothing is really as it seems in this small community. The relationships are complicated and the secrets are deadly.
I am highly recommend reading the anthology and getting all these great stories in one place.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.
Grave Stones.WOW! Action packed and full of surprises from word one. I hated to put down even to sleep.
Hearts Blood is great addition to the bloodstone trilogy. After the tragedy in book one sorrow has lingered in the town of ballynagall. Change is not always easy even when wanted.
Iron and Salt is a great continuation in the Bloodstone series. It has some surprising twists and turns. As with her other books Calinda has written in detail the happenings of the current time period of her series.
CALINDA HAS DONE A WONDERFUL JOB WITH STONES END. SHE HAS TIED UP LOOSE ENDS TO THIS HAUNTING SERIES AS SHE BRINGS IT FULL CIRCLE.
Calinda B’s The Bloodstone Quadrilogy is a wonderful fantasy anthology. Very strange things happen in Ballynagual. Pretty darn freaky if you ask me, but have faith in Lassi (and Cillian) to power their way through. I’ve read three of these books and they were quite fabulous. Superb writing, great plots and really well crafted characters (special kudos to Marie and William). Fantasy and mystery of the best kind, and highly recommended.
I really liked this series. It was fun to read and had crazy things happen. I thought they were not the typical murder mystery stories but a different take that worked and made me laugh through the stories.
Grave Stones
This story was a fun read that mixed magic, mystery and murder in a small town in Ireland. I was hooked from the beginning and had to read it to find out who the murderer was and see what other secrets would show up. Plus the people in the town were amusing. I thought Lassi was a hoot and amazed at the trouble she kept running into without meaning to considering she was there to take care of her great aunts funeral and person items. Loved the twists especially the ending.
Heart’s Blood
Lassi and her neighbors in a small Irish town that seems to have the oddest of thing happen there are back. It is supposed to be a quiet place but goes through spells that are full of action, paranormal, and downright odd. I love the action and the craziness as it made me laugh and groan. Lassi and Cillian’s romance is a hoot. I started the book wanting to slap a few characters but then got sucked into the rest of the plot. Just a great read that was entertaining and addictive. Best if read after book 1 as it sets the stage.
Iron and Salt
This is one awesome boxset! Well written and full of magic, mystery and suspense I just could not put this down! Fab storylines, awesome characters , this is a fantastic series I would definitely recommend!
Grave Storm was my fifth highly enjoyable read from author Calinda B. A greatly enjoyable romantic suspense with captivating, well-developed main characters. I’ll be reading more by this author.
Heart’s Blood was my sixth read from author Calinda B. An enjoyable romantic suspense with captivating, well-developed main characters but not as captivating as Grave Storm was. Since this was the second book in the series & I enjoy Calinda B.’s writing I’ll be reading more by this author.
Heart’s Blood was my seventh read from author Calinda B. An enjoyable romantic suspense with captivating, well-developed main characters. I enjoy Calinda B.’s writing and I’ll be reading more by this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
