This is a fun story of a pirate ship captain, Turner, who becomes enthralled with a young lady,Rose, after meeting her in a difficult ( but rather humorous) situation. Rose is attempting to return to America with her mother and teenage younger brother in tow after a trip she’d been on ended with a series of unpleasant events. Turner and Rose negotiate a deal to sail the three home. While on the trip, it is discovered that Rose has an unexpected talent much coveted by sailors, and these hardened pirates will do about anything to get her to stay with them. The question becomes: will the Captain do his part?
This is a delightful story with colorful characters, humor, and salty sailor speech. It is thoroughly enjoyable and I recommend it to fans of romance especially the seafaring kind. I read this as an arc which affected my review in no way at all.
Captain Turner Reyson is highly entertained when he sees the spirited young woman trying to reclaim her property from place she should never set foot in.
Better known on the high seas as the Blood Reaver he has no scruples in claiming payment for his help.
Miss Rose Armistead has found herself in a difficult situation, and trying to find a way home for herself and her family.
This is a fun adventure on the high seas. Our Lady Fortuna will surprise this band of pirates. Our hero has more honour than his crew like.
All great fun, I loved it.
Turner Reyson aka the Blood Reaver meets Rose Armistead in a brothel in Port Royal. She is waving a gun and demanding the return of her stolen trunk. He wants her and what he wants, he gets.
Her trunk returned, Rose leaves, Turner follows, introductions are made and she negotiates passage back to Charles Town for herself, her mother and her brother. Turner agrees for three reasons, he needs the money, the possibility of Spanish galleons and he wants her
He convinces his crew to pretend to be merchants and then sets his plan to seduce her into motion. But Rose is much more than he expected and when she learns the truth, even the love she has for him may not be enough for a HEA.
This was a great novella, well written and fast moving story with pirates, a heroine who is a shrewd negotiator, a lusty sea captain, sea battles, steamy love scenes, treasure and a great HEA complete with an epilogue! This is the sixth book in the Pirates of Britannia series, but can easily be read as a stand alone title.
Barbara Devlin’s story about one of the Britannia Pirate’s, a brotherhood of daring and deadly men who follow in the steps of the first of their kind Arthur MacAlpin, they sail the sea’s looking for treasure to fill their pockets. This particular pirate is Captain Turner Reyson also known as the Blood Reaver; his ship is called the Malevolent and his motley crew a bunch of men who only care about the money they can fill their pockets with. Rose our heroine is introduced to us as she enters a brothel full of drinking men and whores, and cutthroats. She is there to find her stolen trunk, that’s where Turner steps in and helps her to retrieve her property. The fun begins when he takes Rose and her mother along with her younger brother Clinton on board his ship unknown to them that they are pirates, who only want to throw her mother and brother over board, and their captain to get her in his bed. The book has salty language like I imagine a pirate would use gave me a giggle some of the phrases Turner uses. The adventure Turner and Rose find themselves in was worth the read. He fights falling in love and she knows just how to bring this pirate to heel. I enjoyed this book it has its dark moments, well it is after all about pirates. The story was a fun read, and through all the twists and turns brings us to a happy ending.
This was such a fun read. Having assumed the position of Head of the Family, Rose is set with the task of finding passage home for her mother and brother. She finds Turner, who does offer passage-but he definitely has a few thoughts on a different motive of payment. As the journey progresses, the sailors realize that Miss Rose has a special talent. They become her protectors, even against their Captain. This was a book about two very strong willed people who decided to love as hard as they fight,
Port Royal 1680. I had to chuckle at the beginning of this story because it definitely got my attention and held it to the very end! Rose Armistead is desperate. After her father and older brother die from a fever, she has to find passage home with her mother and younger brother in tow. She meets Turner Reyson, an unscrupulous pirate know as the Blood Reaver when she enters a brothel to find who stole her trunk! What an entrance she makes, gets her trunk back and Turner follows her outside. He offers her assistance sailing on his ship to take her back home. Little does she know he just wants to get her in his bed! But out to sea, some interesting things begin to happen as Rose aids the crew in finding booty and spoils on their raids. The crew declares her their good luck lady of fortune and want her to remain on the ship. But as Rose and Turner’s attraction grows, Tuner has secrets that will come out and he feels it may pull Rose away. Can the two find love and help each other or will they go their separate ways? I really loved this adventure and have enjoyed all of the books in the Pirates of Britannia series. Barbara Devlin is a master at creating a story that will have you smiling and sighing with her wonderful characters that come to life. Looking forward to her next book!
