Known throughout Europe for his … Europe for his dedication to his cause, Tristin thinks nothing of embarking on a mission to arrest a common woman, suspected of witchcraft, and bring her to justice.
Practical, intelligent, and beautiful, Bell Heather Caire is determined to make her own way in life, using her skills and knowledge as the village apothecary. She spends her days making salves and powders, worrying not for the ways and means of men — especially the selfish, depraved Willem Mason, a man as determined to have her as she is determined to be left alone.
When Tristin comes upon Bell Heather bathing in a waterfall, he is immediately enchanted, but when he discovers that she is the witch he’s been ordered to arrest, everything within him revolts. His head tells him to follow orders, but his heart and his body crave the lush little wench with dirt beneath her nails and light in her soul.
As Tristin gives in to his desire for Bell Heather, she realizes she wants more than just herbs and solitude—she wants Tristin and the fire he ignites in her blood. But can these two have what they want most when the very thing Tristin believes in is trying to destroy him? And does Bell Heather have a chance against an evil man willing to risk everything to break her?
Can the man of blood and the lovely bloom find a place for themselves in a world ready to tear them apart?
The Blood and The Bloom is a part of the MEN OF BLOOD series, but can be enjoyed as a stand alone.

This is a terrific story about a group of knights who were assigned to carry out the orders of a cardinal of the church. In this first story, the group’s commander, Sir Tristan, is tasked with accosting an alleged witch. Unbeknownst to Tristan, this “enchanter” turns out to be a young woman he becomes enthralled with, Bell Heather.
Tristan and his knights must take Bell Heather to her trial, which most likely will end in her torture and death. But, is she truly evil? Can he ignore what his heart and mind are telling him?
Intrigue and danger abounds in this heated romance! The knights are a colorful group of interesting and often humorous characters, and I am looking forward to their stories as well.
I highly recommend this to readers of historical romance and can’t wait to read the next!
Willem Mason is a crazed man. He is lusting after a woman he must capture. Cardinal Calleaux,
Willem’s supervisor knows of his blood lust and uses it to keep him in line. Bell Heather is an herbalist and the object of Willem’s crazed desire. He has decided to tell Cardinal Calleaux Bell Heather is a witch, so he can torture her. Sir Tristan LaDeux is the leader of “Men of Blood”. They are sent all over England to do Cardinal Calleaux’s bidding. He has been sent to bring in Bell Heather for a witch trial. Things go downhill from here. Can Bell Heather and Tristan develop a timeless love when all these forces try to tear them apart? This is a wonderful book and a lovely ending. I really enjoy Ms. Winchester’s work.
1040 AD – Sir Tristan LaDeaux is sent on a mission to tract down and arrest a woman suspected of witchcraft and bring her to the law. What he does not expect is the beautiful Bell Heather Caire to be that woman. She is really just a healer and dedicated to using her skills to help the villagers. An unexpected encounter with Tristan as she is bathing, totally enchants him. As he learns later she is the woman he has been looking for, he becomes cautious.
This tale had me transfixed from the first page. The characters of Tristan and Bell Heather ( don’t you love that name?) seem to come off the page in the wonderful prose of this author. There are forces at work that try to put distance between them including a pure evil admirer or Bell.
Prepare to hold your breath until the last page and hope that these two can find their happy ever after.
This is the second book I have read by author Rosamund Winchester. I find her style to be interesting and her characters deeply defined. This read is written with profound detail and the characters are believable and some dark. Tristen LaDeux is a second son, that seems to believe that anything he does is not good enough for his father. Even though, he is a high-ranking Knight for the King, at his father’s request, he becomes a Knight for the Catholic Church in England. Cristian Calleaux is his Cardinal and commander; but not a Priest, a rich wealthy Lord. Cristian’s friend Lord William Mason is often in the castle and has a reputation for the miss use of the maids and the women help that often disappear. However, this goes unnoticed by the Cardinal if he is provided money for the Knight of the Blood by Lord Mason. Lord Mason has a wicked need for a certain woman from the village, Bell Heather Caire, and decides that the only way to get her is to have the Cardinal declare her a witch to stand trial at the castle. Tristian and his knights are sent to arrest her and bring her back for trial. However, this becomes the greatest disagreeable assignment he has ever been sent on. Rosamund has provided a dark, sinister and at time loving tale of medieval times. This is a page turner and one I eagerly read.
This was only the 2nd book I’ve read by Rosalind Winchester and I can really say I’ve never read a book quite like it. I find her writing style really intrigues me. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to handle reading about the personalities of some of these characters. She has an amazing gift for making her characters distinctive. I think I felt sorry for Bell Heather since she was constantly second guessing her emotions as well as those of the other characters. Looking at life that way all the time has to be exhausting. A very original plot with well developed characters. I’d recommend this book to those who are not looking for the sweet type of romance. This book is one I would consider a step up from a sweet romance but the sexual scenes are not as steamy as many, yet it does delve into some sexual perversions. Very creatively written and holds your attention until the very last page.
Rosamund Winchester’s book, The Blood and The Bloom- is awesome! Wow, this book came out of no where. This book gave its all to the reader. Tristan and Bell Heather’s love affair was an adventure to say the least. Tristan sets out by the order of the Cardinal to bring Bell Heather before the church, to answer the charge of Witch craft.
This lie was brought on by the evil Lord Willems. Yes readers, there is a evil lord. Lol. Back to the story. So the aka Evil Lord Willem sets his sadistic sites on Bell, whose going about her own life at her cottage. And I mean this man is sadistic readers. The things that he was doing to women… well lets just say he wouldn’t get away with it today. Get this. Lord Willem is the close friend of Cardinal Cristian. I know right?! Anyway, Lord Willem is jealous of Tristan coming to the aide of Bell. Willem has to have Bell. He needs Bell, but Bell and Tristan have their own plans. Here are two men who find themselves pinning for Bell. Tristan cursed himself for thinking impure thoughts of Bell while Willem seemed to empower himself. Even receives self gratification for his impure thoughts of Bell. Both men from two sides of lust. wanting one woman who wants nothing to do with a man, well until she meets Tristin. So sword fights ensue. Assassins are called to duty.
Ungodly men are brought to the forefront to do evil Dastardly things. Bring on the community hanging! Don’t worry readers this book does have its romance. It’s passion and some good bed scenes. I mean some steamy, hot bed scenes.
Gotta love that right?! I give this book and the writer, three snaps and three twist (wink, wink). Well my fellow readers, I recommend this book. Until next time- read on! I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
