Sheltered her entire life within the walls of the castle she was born to, Princess Marilla was destined to be nothing more than the wife of the next Emperor. She was finally fulfilling her destiny by marrying a nobleman her father had presented to her. She intended to obediently accept him on her wedding night, but he had other plans in motion.
A honeymoon is supposed to be filled with love and … love and passion, not murder and betrayal, yet for Princess Marilla that’s all her wedding night offered. Now, with her husband having assassinated her father to ascend the throne, she finds herself a fugitive in her own kingdom. On the run with Hayden, her handsome childhood friend and the Emperor’s most trusted General, she discovers her feelings for Hayden run deep. Together, they find their strong feelings are more than just friendship. Through their journey, their love grows along with her knowledge of the Emperor’s corruption. Now, she intends to take her rightful place as Empress with The Bladed Tiger by her side.
Will their love survive? Will they survive?
This is book one in the Claiming her Empire series but can be enjoyed independently.

This is a story full of twists and turns. When we meet Marilla, she seems exactly the way you’d think of a princess: beautiful and gentle princess. Her romance with the Bladed Tiger, Hayden, is quickly established. Marilla is on track to marry Frederick, a man she doesn’t love, but then he betrays and murders her father on their wedding night– and that’s only the beginning of this tale.
I enjoyed Marilla’s growth as a person. In the beginning, it’s hard to imagine her dealing with life on the run, but she adapts steadily. Nothing about this was unrealistic, because we see her progress and when she does come into her own, it isn’t through brute strength, but often through cleverness or kindness. Of course she also learns how to handle herself physically, but it’s to a level that’s believable of someone who’s been raised as a princess.
An ingenious touch that I especially liked was the detail that Marilla’s beloved father wasn’t actually a good ruler. It’s unusual that a story faces the moral quandary of having someone who’s adored by the main character be a bad person, but this book does it so well. It rang of realism.
Edna became my favorite character towards the end with the line, “Very well, I will help you commit murder.” She’s hilarious.
The best thing about this story is its surprises, so I’ll try to avoid spoilers. I’ll just say that it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen from chapter to chapter. I recommend giving The Bladed Tiger’s Empress a read!
Book one in the Claiming her Empire series and it is a captivating and thrilling page turner! It is well written, well thought out, and well developed with intrigue, suspense, action, drama, twists and turns, betrayal, murder, secrets, and more. This book is the first installation in the Claiming Her Empire Series and features Princess Marilla, who marries the nobleman her father chose for her, and Hayden, her childhood friend and protector who is known as the Bladed Tiger and is her father’s most trusted General. Marilla’s father is assassinated by her new husband on the night of her marriage and she is being hunted in her own kingdom. Hayden’s goal is to protect Marilla and their friendship starts to become more with their adventure. This fantasy novel is filled with great characters and a plot with action, twists, danger, and steamy chemistry. I could not put this book down! I am looking forward to the next book of this series.

On the run with the Bladed Tiger
So I grabbed The Bladed Tiger’s Empress by mistake this via an ARC program. Ooops!!! But my mistake so I decided to at least crack this book open and take a look to see if I might like it or not before passing judgement. Well it is not exactly my complete cup of tea so to say I still thought it was a fairly engaging story. There is danger, suspense, action, betrayal, twists and some steaminess.
This is the first book I have ready by Bethany Bliss and I thought she did a nice job with this book. If you love fantasy romance then you might want to pick this book up and discover a new series to like.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Princess Marilla grew up protected and insulated in her father’s castle from the outside world. Her only friend has is a soldier, Hayden. When they are grown, her father marries her off to someone he choose, and being the subservient good daughter she is, she complies. Hayden, now General Hayden The Bladed Tiger, has pledged to protect her. So when her new husband kids her father and attempts to kill her. Hayden rescues her and they escape. All the in the first chapter. The story is full of twists and turns, betrayal and deception, and steam and revenge. The book is well paced, characters interesting and a HEA. Good Read. And it’s available to read free on KU Unlimited.

This is the first work by Bethany Bliss I’ve read so I had no idea what to expect when it came to her world-building or her characters. I was pleasantly surprised when the storyline grabbed hold of me almost from the beginning and didn’t let go until the end. Her prose created such a picture in my mind, I felt like I could visualize everything. And the characters with the interactions with each other were comfortable and flowed easily. The is so much action, adventure, secrets, greed, murder, and lies. Then you have duty, friendship, trust, vulnerability, and love. I enjoyed this book and have decided I need to keep my eyes open for the release of the second book.
Wonderfully fantastic… The book was amazing… It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it… The characters and their personalities match them perfectly… The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing…

Marilla is the princess of the Farquam Empire. We meet her as she is preparing to marry Frederick. Hayden is the general of the armies and he has been in love with Marilla since childhood. After they are married, Frederick kills her father the Emperor and tries to kill her. She escapes and Hayden goes wiith her. They are pursued through the empire and Marilla learns what a terrible emperor her father was. While they travel, she learns to defend herself and Hayden learns what a wonderful Empress she will be. Marilla also falls in love. There are battles and heartbreak through the book, but there is a HEA. I’m looking forward to more books by this author.
