The fourteenth book of the acclaimed Rogues & Gentlemen historical romance series from Emma V Leech, the multi-award-winning Amazon Top 10 romance writer. Author of fan favourites such as Flaming June and Last Man in London, both listed in the 20 ‘Romance Reads You Can’t Miss’ in the Amazon Kindle Storyteller Awards 2018.
**** Warning: This book contains cunning and aspiration in equal measure, not to mention a small amount of graphic and descriptive sex scenes. We are very pleased to point out, however, that this book – or series – is in no way verging on erotica ****
The Rogues & Gentlemen series can be enjoyed as stand-alone novels or as part of the wider series. If the full series appeals, the suggested – but by no means essential – reading order would be:
•Book 1: The Rogue
•Book 2: The Earl’s Temptation
•Book 3: Scandal’s Daughter
•Book 4: The Devil May Care
•Book 5: Nearly Ruining Mr Russell
•Book 6: One Wicked Winter

Katherine has borne the shame of being illegitimate her whole life. When her guardian dies, she discovers a clue to her parentage. A perilous journey to London ensues in search of her father. Katherine finds herself in dark company, but she is resourceful. Besides, Luther seems to be a man who can supply the answers to everything she desires. – Though Luther had a terrible childhood and suffered a great deal, he was kind and loyal. Katherine had a lonely childhood. She was sweet and kind. I enjoyed reading about their friendship growing. They were a good fit, and I liked his staff. This is an interesting romance.
Really enjoyed this story. I cried, I laughed, and I loved it all. Thanks for this wonder story.
I really enjoy Ms. Vetch’s writing. Plot is entertaining and characters believable. Story plot was great. The plot is entertaining and the story line flows. I`m never bored and always anxious for the next page.
Wonderful story of sin, redemption, and love.
I loved this beautiful tale. So much romance! An amazing celebration of falling in love!
Not the typical kind of hero for this type of genre. You wind up falling in love with a villian, The young, tiny, delicate heroine brings out the hero in him when he falls in love with this girl at virtually first sight. I read this book twice & liked it just as much the 2nd time. I love this author & I think I have read all her books
What a wonderful story, I hated for it to end.
This a heartwarming story of people doing what they can with what they have while striving to better themselves and staying true to their ideals and own views of honour and charity. This is not your run of the mill historical fiction story, but well worth to read.
Love this author loved the series
This was an excellent book and one done in a quite different way than her normal story lines. I really enjoyed reading about Luther, and felt very deeply for the situation that he grew up in. I too felt very deeply for Katherine and her situation. When these two found each other I couldn’t have been happier, and watching the story play out was a joy! By far one of my favorite Emma V. Leech books!
Light versus Darkness
With good reason, Luther Blackheart, aka Lord Blackheart, is one of the most feared and/or respected crime bosses within the London underworld. He has developed some high reaching connections, but his dangerous existence is a lonely one. Then unexpectedly he sees the light of his future from afar.
With good reason, Katherine Dove is a God fearing young woman. She is also an innocent who’s all alone in the world. Arriving in London, her hope is to find a lost relation, just so she will have someone in her life. Then unexpectedly her life takes a dramatic turn.
If you’ve already read all the previous books in this entertaining series you will especially appreciate The Blackest of Hearts. I would have enjoyed this tale even if I had never read any of the previous books. However, since I have, I’m so pleased that Lord Blackheart’s own story is being told and he finally has the opportunity to achieve his own happily-ever-after. Emma V. Leech is a very good writer, and it shows in this engrossing read. I especially enjoyed the cameo appearances by other key players in the Rogues and Gentlemen series.
Content 411: In addition to both secular and religious swearing, there is also a moderate amount of sexually intimate scenes.
Loved these flawed characters! This book was so well written, it flowed so well. I really enjoyed this story!!n.
Emma Leech has woven another wonderful tale and it was great revisiting some of the characters from previous books in this series! Lord Luther Blackehart has not a drop a blue blood but he has earned the tile of Lord of London’s underworld He was born in a workhouse and has clawed his way up to be made heir to Black Rule
Katherine Dove was taken in by a vicar when her unmarried mother died in childbirth. After many years, her guardian dies and Katherine finds some clues about her past and who her father was.
She heads to London and Luther sees her there, falls immediately under her spell and rescues her from a woman set on making Katherine one of her ladies for hire. Luther knows he can never have her or show his feelings but agrees to help her locate her father – he insists that part of the deal is for her to be safe at his home.
There are many adventures, dangerous situations, attempted murders, kidnappings, romance, some humor, family discoveries and love – it really has it all and I highly recommend the read!
