Bestselling author Daniel Silva delivers another spellbinding international thriller—one that finds the legendary Gabriel Allon grappling with an ISIS mastermind.
Gabriel Allon, the art restorer, spy, and assassin described as the most compelling fictional creation “since Ian Fleming put down his martini and invented James Bond” (Rocky Mountain News), is poised to become the chief of Israel’s secret intelligence service. But on the eve of his promotion, events conspire to lure him into the field for one final operation. ISIS has detonated a massive bomb in the Marais district of Paris, and a desperate French government wants Gabriel to eliminate the man responsible before he can strike again.
Acclaimed novelist Daniel Silva has thrilled, entertained and educated readers with eighteen thoughtful and gripping spy novels featuring a diverse cast of compelling characters and ingenious plots that have taken them around the globe and back—from the United States to Europe, Russia to the Middle East. From its shocking opening to its explosive denouement in Washington, D.C., The Black Widow reveals itself as Silva’s most timely and powerful novel yet. Following the success of his smash hit The English Spy, this electrifying thriller showcases Silva’s consummate skill and brilliant imagination, and is sure to be a must read for his multitude of current and future fans.

Top notch read…highly entertaining!
Worthy of being considered next generation of John LeCarre. His Gabriel Allen never fails to delight and surprise.
Every one of Silva’s books have been wonderful to read. Great author
Enjoy all of Daniel Silva’s work.
I read every book of Daniel Silva, he is that good.
Great thriller
As always Daniel Sylva writes a great page turner!
Gabriel Allon takes a back seat in this novel. Natalie, a naive young physician, is recruited by Gabriel to infiltrate ISIS. This book is frighteningly on target in regards to current events.
Gabriel has been the first person shooter in so many of Silva’s books that it was a bit strange to find him pulling strings instead of triggers. Ari’s goal of getting Gabriel to take the head of the “office” looks to be finally bearing fruit. But a series of attacks in France puts that “promotion” on hold until a villain of the first order can be neutralized.
Silva’s books have always had a feel of reality to them but this one in particular was practically predictive of ISIS behavior. Silva chronicles events in fiction that are far to close to fact for this to be a comfortable read.
The Kill Artist and The Heist and finally The Mark of the Assassin all illustrate the style of Silva as well as the character Gabriel Allon, an Israeli assassin who is being promoted out of the field into the bureaucracy. However Gabriel makes it clear he is going to be a very proactive head of the office.
I highly recommend.
Another exciting tale for one of the best “spy” characters!
The entire series is not to be missed
All of Daniel Silva’s books are excellent. This one is no exception.
The 16th book of Daniel Silva’s series about art restorer and Mossad agent Gabriel Allon continues the thriller espionage plot of good versus evil. In this case, the very real evil is the terrorist organization ISIS. The novel begins with a bombing in Paris and the hunt for the bad actors who perpetrated it.
The world believes, Gabriel Allon is dead. However, the super Mossad spy and assassin responsible for countless eliminations of Jihadists and evildoers around the world is about to be resurrected. Before assuming his promotion to Ramsad of Mossad, he’s given a final assignment as an assassin and agent. When his friend Hannah Weinberg is murdered in Paris in a terrorist bombing, she will’s her family’s Van Gogh painting to Allon. However, the French government sees this as an opportunity to enlist Allon’s help in catching and eliminating the ISIS terrorist network that’s claimed responsibility. In order for Allon to inherit the Van Gogh, he must eliminate the mass murdering cabal. Working in cooperation with a secret French covert organization and their brutal Jordanian equivalent, they discover a plot to attack the United States that would make 911 look like child’s play.
The Israelis must infiltrate ISIS and bring down Saladin, the bloodthirsty ISIS brain behind the attacks in Paris and Amsterdam, the terrorist whom they believe is plotting an even more grandiose mass murder plot in the US. Hence begins the search for a suitable agent. They decide upon Dr. Natalie Mizrahi, a French Algerian Jew who speaks perfect Arabic. Now begins the process of training and the conversion of this Jewess into a Palestinian radical who will be sent on the most dangerous mission imaginable. She will be recruited to join ISIS. If she can convince them of her sincerity, she’ll be taken to the heart of the caliphate, Syria, where she will meet and be trained by Saladin as a weapon to be used against the United States. If discovered she’ll be beheaded and Gabriel Allon will carry the guilt for the rest of his life.
Can the cooperating covert organizations of Israel, France, Jordan, Britain, and the US stop a terrorist attack on America? Can Allon outwit Saladin, a man whose true identity is not known even to those closest to him? Can the “Black Widow”, Dr. Leila Hadawi, Natalie Mizrahi’s new legend created by Mossad, fool ISIS into believing she’s a Palestinian dedicated to destroying Israel? As a thriller writer myself, I congratulate Daniel Silva on mastering his art. The Black Widow is well worth the read.
Gabriel Allon is my favorite all-time fictional character! Silva always writes great stories out of today’s headlines. I can’t wait until summer when Silva’s next book is published. This is as good as it gets.
Daniel Silva cannot write a book I don’t like. Look forward to his next. I am a real fan.
Long live Daniel Silva and long live Gabriel Allon.
