Could not put this book down. Loved it! I imagine the author will follow up with more tales about the grand daughter!
Surprised by these. Very entertaining!
It made me wonder was there a real Black Stiletto!
Already reviewed it.
I’ve read the first two books of this series so far and I absolutely LOVE them!! The basic premise is that a young woman, having suffered abuse herself, becomes an all around good fighter and a martial arts expert, and becomes a heroine, The Black Stiletto, who delivers justice against wrong doers. But there’s an interesting twist. She’s now an old woman with Alzheimer’s, whose adult son knows nothing about her early life. Her lawyer, knowing she won’t know, gives her son a series of diaries she wrote about that period of her life, that was to be given to him after her death. The twists and turns between the past and the present make the story even more intriguing. And it’s great to read about a super hero that is a woman.
This series is about how young Judy Cooper becomes The Black Stiletto. Born in Odessa, TX she runs away to NY at the age of 14, leaving behind her mother, step father, and a brother Frankie. Upon arriving in NY she makes a friend, Lucy, who helps her get a job at a diner. Judy then goes on and finds another job working at a gym, which in the 1950’s was unheard of for a female.
I loved the characters and thoroughly enjoyed reading about the adventures of The Black Stiletto, until book 4. Judy’s antics as her alter ego started to get repetitive and down right irresponsible. I did not appreciate how she would continue her adventures as the BS despite concerns voiced by the close friends who knew her identity as the BS.
Much better than expected. Kept looking for opportunities to get back to reading to see where the story was going. Captured the times nicely
I liked this book series.
read book 1 – 3 they make great reading
Couldn’t put down-had to see what was going to happen next.
Loved this series of books and have even told friends who loved it as much as me
Didn’t realize how great this book was until I was well into reading it, then when it ended, I was wishing the story continued. I didn’t check “tear-jerker” block but the story could have qualified in some respect.
Though the book lagged in a few places in the beginning, the story was fascinating and action packed. I’m glad I stuck with it. Definitely worth the read.
A different type of book. I am not usually interest in “super heroes” but this was just realistic enough to be fun.
Love love loved the series
One of the best boxed sets I’ve read in years! The premise of the book is very original and fanciful. The storyline is fascinating and the characters come alive in this very well written series. Can’t recommend it enough.
I read the all the books sequentially. It was a great read, full of unexpected and predictable events, all the while cheering for the heroine.
Not my typical book, but I was glad I chose it based on the author and his many works.
This was a series of five books and I thought they were perfectly wonderful. I looked forward to reading a bit each day. I was disappointed when I finished because it’s hard to find another book that is as enjoyable as the Black Stiletto series.
I enjoyed the back and forth from the past and present but it did seem like it took forever to finish this book.
The Black Stiletto ventures into dangerous situations counting on super powers that are anything but super or powerful. Her willingness to risk her life to help random strangers makes her more human than super.
