One of the first historicals I have ever read. I get goosebumps every time I read it, and I know what is coming. I love all of her books. The Black Lion and his Lioness are destined to be together, but first they must suffer distrust and misunderstanding as they learn what true love means. Takes place in the time of knights, damsels, castles and …
I can’t even count how many times I’ve read this book. It never gets old. Love it!
I read this novel when it first was published. I loved it and it is one of my favorite novels. It was later when I started reading the Montgomery/Taggert novels, that I realized The Black Lyon was the first in that series. This story is the beginning of the Montgomery’s. You just can’t go wrong reading a Jude Deveraux novel.
The main heroine was as dumb as a box of rocks…even her youth couldn’t explain the decisions she made! If the villian had succeeded, I wouldn’t have been upset at all..

I reread this after about thirty years and the story was as wonderful as the fierst time.

The characters were relatable.

I highly recommend all of the Montgomery/Taggert books including the 3 newest Nantucket Brides Trilogy.
This is one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in a long time!! Jude Deveraux books are the best!
Didn’t like that he was violent towards his wife, even if it was just once
I read this many years ago. Bought it again to reread.
It has been a long while since I read this but I love the story lines of her historical romance books
I had some reservations about this book based upon reviews mentioning the 2 instances of “rape” and one slap across her face, but given the h was compliant upon the occasion of her wedding night, if not enthusiastic, it felt that it did not really rise to that level. One must take into context the prevailing attitudes at the time towards women’s …
No matter how many times I read this book, I always find something in the characters that I missed from before & makes me fall in love with the book all over again.
