In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch’s ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and … personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the “black box,” the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.
Riveting and relentlessly paced, THE BLACK BOX leads Harry Bosch, “one of the greats of crime fiction” (New York Daily News), into one of his most fraught and perilous cases.more
A wonderful read.
My second Michael Connelly in a row. Can you blame me? I feel Harry Bosch in my bones. While there may be a world of difference between Bosch and Marlowe, underneath, Phil is Harry’s grandaddy … just like Connelly is the spiritual successor to Chandler. This is top-drawer Connelly, which makes it among the best contemporary crime fiction there …
Connelly is awesome
Couldn’t put it down a real page turner
I have read most of Connelys books. I enjoy reading them. However, in a week ask me what it was about, I can’ t tell you.
Always great reads.
Captivating, like all this author’s books.
I always look forward to reading a Harry Bosch book, knowing I’m in for great writing, great characters, and a terrific tale. Every time, I promise myself I will savor Connelly’s excellent prose. And every time, I get so caught up in the story, so hungry to find out what happens next, I burn through the book like a junkie snorting coke.
After 28 …
Harry Bosch is one of my all time favorite characters. If you want a good series this is the one you want.
I love mysteries by Michael Connelly! You can’t go wrong with one of his books!
This series forces self examination.
Another great Connelly book
Mr. Connelly has a winner with this book as Harry tackles a twenty-year old cold case that has haunted him since 1992 when a young foreign journalist was found dead in an alley during the L.A. riots. Harry tackles the case with tenacity and his unique ability to track clues one at a time and put them together. I love the way Harry never hesitates …
Harry Bosch is such a compelling character, dauntless and focussed. His dogged single-mindedness drives the narrative of Michael Connolly’s terrific plot.
I like the move-along pace of Connelly’s writing, and his plotting.
Michael Connelly writes great police procedural thrillers. Harry Bosch is a wonderful character, and readers of the series quickly grow fond of this noble cop. This particular book in the series is a bit rough, as it’s going back and forth in time, trying to tie together current events with a crime that happened twenty years ago (which places …
Vintage Bosch.
Connelly is solid as ever.
If you like Connelly, he never seems to run out of fresh material wrapped around the old framework of Harry Bosch. Harry is the consummate insider outsider who always after much interference from his own department gets the perp.
It is by my favourite author
