Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his … for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.
Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!! What an AMAZING way to end a series. I’m sad it’s over, but SO HAPPY it ended in a perfect way. Hunter has my heart.
Devney Perry is SO GOOD! She once again gave us mystery and twists and turns! I was going crazy over this story!
This whole series is not only about love stories, it’s SO MUCH MORE!
Now all I want to do id to read the whole Jamison Valley Series again. I’m not ready to let go of this town, of those characters!
I loved reading Maisy’s story! It was everything I love about small town romance stories like the awesome characters and the close knit community feel.
“Maisy Holt was pure joy. She was goodness personified. She was a beam of sunshine breaking through the clouds in my life.”
I was sad to come to the end of this series, but this was a beautiful way to round out the series!
Amazing narrators! Definitely worth the listen. -5 Stars!-
Another wonderful story by Devney Perry. Ever since I read her first book, Coppersmith Farmhouse (I still can’t believe that was her first book!) I’ve devoured her books within a day of release. I always know all her books will have characters we all will fall in love with and the story engaging.
I knew Maisy’s story was going to be amazing, I remember reading about her in the first book and seeing what she went through, it was heartbreaking so I was so happy to see her find someone like Hunter. A protector and such a wonderful dad to Coby. I loooooove Hunter!
I also absolutely love the small town feel, KA’s books are like that too and it makes me just want to pack up my stuff and find a small town and start all over again. (I actually got pretty close of doing just that). I visited Montana a few years ago and that was definitely a state where I would love to move to.
So all in all loved this book, even though the truth took a bit longer than I would have liked, but I am glad that it didn’t take too long for all to be forgiven. The anticipation of not knowing how and when the truth was going to come out and what the reaction was going to be was hard for me. Don’t get me wrong I’ve read books where the anticipation and nail biting was much worse.
But again I can’t reiterate enough how I really enjoyed this book. Hope I didn’t blubber too much, this is only my 3rd review 🙂
One of most anticipate read 2018… Bitterroot Inn was so great…The small town Jamison, Montana never speak less of drama and excitement..
Maisy Holt has to live her nightmare after a horrible tragedy.. The Inn is her escape for everything…until a stranger brown hair who walked in to Bitterroot…. the curiousity…spark..not even a single Mom can resist it..
Hunter want the woman…with a big secret..which may destroy everything..
I love the details within the story.. it get your emotion attach so much… crazy as it is, you can imagine the story as its live action… 🙂
Amazing continuation of a wonderful series
I loved this story. Hunter and Maisy were just so perfect together!! It’s a story filled with secrets and drama and love. Seeing Hunter connect with Coby was just a beautiful sentiment about what a relationship with a single parent should be. I loved their relationship and kindness they shared with each other. This is the perfect ending to a beautiful series.
This was a superb way to end this series. I loved everyone of them. I wasn’t certain how I would like this particular book as I was not that fond of Mazie in The Coppersmith Farm House, however I was elated to find that she had matured but still her quirky self. Her love interest, Hunter, is definitely swoon worthy and just what Mazie needs in her life. This book, and the other four in the series, touch on every emotion and will stay with me for a long, long time!
Sometimes life changes your path in the most unexpected of way. For Maisy – life took a different turn than the one she planned. Giving her a new life with new goals and expectations. As the new owner of the Bitterroot Inn in Prescott, Maisy knows how hard work and the support of family mean everything in life.
Always working to expand the presence of the Inn, Maisy knows that every dollar in the fall season means more opportunity to expand on her vision for the future. As the only parent to her son, Maisy knows that she has to be stronger than most. Providing a life that she can be proud of, one that is full of love for the child that means so much to her life. The Inn is that saving grace for Maisy. The place that occupies her thoughts when they begin to wonder back to a time that forever changed her life. A memory that is full of pain and heartache….until she looks upon her sons smiling face.
Life was about to change for Maisy in an unexpected way. A new occupant at the Inn has come along at a time when Maisy least expects it. The mysterious Hunter Faraday has come in like a whirlwind to Montana, and Maisy knows next to nothing about the man. However – the attraction that she feels for Hunter is something that both excites and frightens Maisy.
What Maisy doesn’t know is Hunter has his own secrets. A revelation that could shatter everything that Hunter and Maisy have found in one another. Deep down Hunter knew he should have turned the other way, but he couldn’t help wanting to revel in the world that Maisy created for she and her son. A deception that will slowly find its way into their lives. What will happen when Maisy discovers the secret Hunter has kept hidden for so long?
The Bitterroot Inn is the latest installment in the Jamison Valley series by Devney Perry. This latest novel explores Maisy’s life after the tragic events from her past. The Bitterroot Inn was now a huge part of life for Maisy and her son. All of the heartache and determination that Maisy felt has fueled the determination to make this Inn even better than it was in the past.
Hunter…..he was an unexpected but interesting character. The devotion and intrigue that he felt for Maisy was felt with each chapter. Hunter showed such patience and interest in Maisy’s son. A twist that readers don’t always see in novels. The icing on the cake was Hunter’s patience and romantic interest in Maisy. Can you say H-O-T??!! Everything that Maisy could have imagined in the ‘perfect partner’ came barreling into her life when Hunter walked through the door.
Maisy is definitely a character that exudes strength. Overcoming circumstances that would terrorized anyone, and coming out stronger on the other side. The heartache from Maisy’s past is presented in such a way that readers cannot help but feel the emotion that torments an otherwise successful mother.
As always, I love visiting all of the characters in Prescott, Montana. Each adding to the lives of the main characters in each book. Although I may be impartial when it comes to visiting Beau every chance that I can get!! The Jamison Valley series is one that perfects realism in romance writing. I love every nuance of this little town, and hope that Perry plans on writing more about Jamison Valley!!
What a bittersweet story in the conclusion of this series. I’ve been waiting for Maisy’s story. I fell in love with her in book 1 and finally Hunter arrives and sweeps her and Coby off their feet. A perfect man, bun and all… sweet, funny, sexy. He helps her face her demons and teaches her to love and trust again. Throw in some angst with their off the charts chemistry and you’ve got a great read. I highly recommend this book and series.
Just wow….I’m in love with Devney Perry, her characters, and the small town of Prescott. It was my first visit there, but it definitely won’t be my last!
Maisy is content with the life she is living. She is grateful for what she has, her sweet boy Coby, and she has taken an old motel and made it her own. It’s thriving and for the most part she is too. All of her friends have found happiness, and she isn’t jealous. However, she would love to have an honest and strong man in her life to romance her, but most importantly, someone she could trust. When her a new guest, Hunter, shows up looking for a room, she is literally left speechless. He makes her come alive, but she isn’t sure she can trust herself with men. She made a horrible mistake in the past that she is determined not to make again. As she gets to know him, she finds herself falling quickly. He makes it so easy when she sees him with Coby. As she is hiding things about her past, so is he. There is more of a connection between them than she could ever imagine.
LOVED both Maisy and Hunter! Maisy was inspiring to me. Her life completely changed several years before. She was in her early twenties and still naïve and a bit innocent in the ways of the world. She thought she had met the man of her dreams until he became the man of her nightmares. Now, she is a business owner and a single mom. Instead of being a cold-hearted woman, she isn’t. She is loving and forgiving, giving others second chances. She has grown into a phenomenal mother!
Of course, Hunter is gorgeous. He would make me tongue-tied just like he did Maisy. His most attractive qualities are his perseverance, his loyalty, and his protectiveness. He made Maisy feel safe, and he did little things, like helping her paint…things that she would sometimes have to do by herself. His relationship with Coby was what made me fall the hardest. He just adored that precious baby boy!!! Be still my heart!!!! It was his love and protectiveness of Maisy and Coby that led him to hide things.
I can’t not write about sweet, precocious Coby. I have boys myself, although they are almost grown, and Perry truly captured the essence of little boys! My favorite was him thinking the mailman was the person who gave him everything his mother had ordered for him from Amazon. He loved without question or expectations!
I fell in love with Prescott, Montana too! Perry described it in such detail that I could picture it so clearly in my mind. I could see the old-fashioned lamppost that had flower baskets hanging from them, the community fishing pond, and the Bitterroot Inn.
I always love a romance with substance. Yes, there were some steamy scenes between Maisy and Hunter that gave me butterflies, but there was also a sense of family. A family can be blood-related or one we choose, and Perry perfectly illustrated that throughout the book.
I always like to read the Author’s Note in every book I read. For me, it tells me a lot about the author. What Devney Perry’s told me was how much she loves writing and how much she loves her characters. That was evident in every word that she wrote. Not only did her characters take me on a journey, they took her on a journey to being the fantastic writer that she is. I will TRY to wait patiently for what she has next, but in the meantime, I will be found reading the other books in this series.

5 Stars
The Bitterroot Inn is the fifth title in The Jamison Valley series, and features Maisy and Hunter. Maisy first appeared in the Coppersmith Farmhouse and has been a prevalent character in the following three titles. I love how Devney Perry has created a small town series, with titles that are so closely intertwined, and the each characters’ stories continue with each addition to the series.
Maisy and Hunter’s story is full of twists and turns, emotional highs and lows, heartbreaking moments and just the right amount of angst to keep you not only captivated, but completely enthralled.
Maisy is not only a incredible single mother, but very hard working, level headed, and strong. She has a huge heart, she’s kind, caring, and very loving and it’s easy to relate to her struggles with dealing with her past. Despite the choices she made in The Coppersmith Farmhouse and the resulting tragedy impacted her life in a multitude of ways, she’s very resilient and incredibly brave.
Hunter is sexy, kind, supportive, charming, intelligent and funny. He’s also intensely private, protective and mysterious, holding his cards very close to his chest. When his secrets are revealed they have the potential to destroy everything that is building between them.
Their attraction and chemistry is intense and undeniable from their very first interaction. Packed full of heat, heart and steam this well paced and poignant story will draw you in and keep you completely enthralled from the very first page, until the very last.
A beautiful conclusion to The Jamison Valley series, and I will be eagerly anticipating future titles by this incredibly talented author.
The Bitter Root Inn is book 5 in the Jamison Valley Series. Personally I think this book can easily be a stand alone.
Maisy Holt and her son, Cooper unknowingly have had guardian angel watching and protecting them from a distance in the form of Hunter Faraday.
Hunter longer able to resist the temptation of Maisy any longer and makes a visit to her Inn. Maisy and Hunter are instantly drawn to each other. Hunter knows he should keep his distance and just can’t.
I admire Maisy on so many levels. She’s remodeling her Inn on her own with the help of her brothers. She’s determined to be independent, run her Inn and raise her son. She’s survived an awful ordeal and she is doing the best she can to go on with her life.
Hunter is a very honorable man. He’s lived his life protecting and taking care of others.
This book has suspense, a darling little boy that you can’t help but fall in love with and twists of humor that makes the story that much more realistic. The times that Maisy becomes a bumbling idiot when Hunter is around and the times that he accidentally scares her are absolutely hilarious.
When the evil of of her past comes to affect her present Hunter takes a huge risk and comes clean on the big secret he has kept hidden to protect Maisy and Cooper.
Maisy is deeply hurt by Hunter’s secret and is now struggling with moving on without him. She’s wavering on forgiveness as she knows deep down that Hunter is one in a million.
This is such a well written book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The author has a way of writing that makes the reader relate to the characters.

5 After The Secrets Stars!!!
Talk about ending a series with a BANG!!! I’ve literally devoured all the books in this series since I came to the party late and starting with The Outpost and I thought I knew what my favorite book was and I was wrong! This book, Maisy’s book has eclipsed all the others in the series and pushed its way to the top of my list.
Maisy is the woman that saved her own life and the life of Gigi in the first book and I knew that when we got her full story that it would tug at all my emotions and I wasn’t wrong. This is a woman that has moved on with her life and really doesn’t trust too many people especially men, with the exception of her cuter than all get out three year old son Coby. She thinks she doesn’t need to have a relationship to be happy in her life….that’s until Hunter Faraday enters her Inn one day and everything changes…in oh so many ways.
I loved the pull and tug of their burgeoning friendship. There were truly some laugh out loud moments too! Hunter is new to town, at least that’s what everyone thinks, and he’s there for a reason….and oh my goodness, what a reason it is! While he’s there to protect this beautiful woman, things begin to change for him and he wants more….
“Maisy Holt was pure joy. She was goodness personified. She was a beam of sunshine breaking through the clouds in my life.”
And not only are there clouds, there’s a storm brewing in both their lives….and it’s like a tornado heading right for Prescott!! While I was basking in Maisy and Hunter giving in to their attraction, events happen that had me gasping for breath. I NEVER saw this coming….EVER!! Talk about keeping me on edge. I swear if I had long fingernails I would’ve been chewing my nails it was that intense.
As I read more and more of the book, I was more enthralled with the story. There’s a love that’s building between two people that really would’ve never met had it not been for a set of circumstances that are beyond anyone’s realm of thinking. We’ve got a suspenseful set of actions that had me gasping and through it all, the underlying foundation of friendship and love between all the residents of Prescott. And the Epilogue is STELLAR!!!! I closed the book laughing and with a huge smile on my face. Without a doubt Ms. Perry has become an automatic one-click author for me.
READ THIS BOOK!
If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, you are in for such an amazing treat with The Bitterroot Inn!
Author Devney Perry did it again! What a perfect, solid finish to the five-book Jamison Valley series! This series was my favorite reads in 2017! I loved Maisey and Hunter’s story. I do not want to summarize this book. Just do yourself a favor and read it! This book is much more than a romance story! This author delivered such rich, engaging, well developed characters, a desirable location and believable heartwarming relationships in all five books! I literally could not put any of the books down as I began to read each one! I truly cannot wait to see what Devney Perry creates for us in 2018!
I absolutely loved Maisy, Coby, and Hunter!!! Maisy is a single Mom, who has sworn off doctors, for good reason. She runs the Bitterroot Inn to support her son, Coby. Hunter enters the picture renting a room. It was love at first knee. Read to get the humor to that statement. Hunter has something to hide though and Maisy has something to lose–her heart. This is a must read to start your new year off with a bang! This series is one of the best out there. The book can be read as a stand alone, but really all five books are five star reads! Thanks for the beautiful ending to this series, Devney! I cannot wait to read what you write next!
I have read the entire series and had been waiting on this book!. I was unsure of Maisy because I did not care for her character in the other books of the series. However, since I had enjoyed all of the other books I took a chance and dived into the story. Boy, am I glad that I did Maisy and Hunter became my favorite book and characters in the series. Read this book you will love it like I did!
This author is quickly becoming a favorite. She flawlessly creates extraordinary stories from ordinary people. The characters are real, complex and life like and relatable.
This is Maisy’s story, I met her as a secondary character in The Outpost and I immediately fell in love with her and her personality. Her tenacity! Her devotion to those she loves, and get demand for honesty.
Maisy is the type of woman who invests 1000 % in everything she does. So…when she meets Hunter who’s new in town, it was insta-lust but want insta more.
However…Maisy is one badass, no nonsense, kind of woman, and Hunter has a huge secret. Unless he comes clean he doesn’t stand a chance with her. Of course Maisy finds out in the worst possible way.
What’s the outcome?
You’ll have to read and find out.
This story flowed so easily, the plot so intriguing and emotional, I couldn’t put this read down. The banter and the chemistry amongst characters was flawless even with the mistakes they made.
Thought provoking and heartfelt story, I would love to read more about these characters.
4.5 stars
Another amazing story by Devney Perry I’ve been waiting for the heroines book since the beginning , The bitterroot Inn can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest that you read The Coppersmith Farmhouse before this a key element happened that is brought up throughout the story and would be a major spoiler if you plan to start the series which you definitely should one click all of the Jamison valley books it has became one of my favorite series . Sparks fly between Maisy and Hunter when they first meet the sexual tension is off the charts HOT with banter , attraction , respect , and steamy sex scenes . Maisy was a character I’ve been wanting to read about since the first book she’s funny , sweet , sassy , beautiful , and a mamma bear she’s been through alot but thanks to her family , friends , her son , and now the hero has over come alot . Oh my gosh Hunter was one of my favorite heroes in the series and that was some tough competition because Devney can write some amazing heroes , Hunter was first introduced in The lucky heart with a little scene and I was so happy to see him get a book , he’s swoon worthy , funny , patient , sweet , has a man bun (wink) , and treats the heroins adorable little boy as if he were his own . The storyline had me hooked till the very end it did frustrate me a bit but it was understandable why the characters do what they do and the reactions that come from it , I’m sad to see this series come to end I hope we get to see more from these awesome characters in the future because they are so lovable maybe a next gen (wink) .

I am absolutely in love with this series!!! When I started reading I was unable to put down until I completed the book. I am so sad this is the end of the series but I can not wait for what else might be in store for us, hopefully a spin off series
I have loved Maisy from the start and I was so happy that she finally got her happily ever after. Hunter is perfect fit for her and fell in love with his character as well.
I absolutely loved this book. Maisy and Hunter were a perfect match for each other. And I couldn’t get enough of sweet Coby. As much as I wanted to read it slow and savor it, knowing it was the last book in the series, I couldn’t stop. I had to know who was who, what they were doing there and what was going to happen. With this being the finale, Devney went out in style. I didn’t see the twists and turns coming. This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat! Although the series is over, and i’ll miss my friends from Jamison Valley, i’ll never forget them.
I must say….my favorite book in this series was The Coppersmith Farmhouse(the first book)—UNTIL NOW. “The Bitterroot Inn” has quickly jumped to the top!
We meet Maisy Holt in The Coppersmith Farmhouse when she was a nurse at the local hospital. Although the story wasn’t about her, she had a big role because she ended up killing the father of her unborn son(a doctor at the hospital) at the end of the story. After that day..Maisy couldn’t go back to the hospital where all of those bad things had happened and now she had to focus on making a life for herself and her son. Her life becomes The Bitterroot Inn—-a hometown hotel that she purchases and runs alone(with the help of her awesome brothers and Dad, of course). But she is doing fine–her business is growing..her son is thriving..but she is alone!!
Until……….. OMG….ENTER HUNTER FARADAY!!!
**SWEET BABY JESUS WITH A MANBUN!!**
I’ve always been a fan of a man bun –ON THE RIGHT PERSON…..and boy, is Hunter the one to pull it off. (no pun intended…well, maybe)
Maisy does not WANT another man in her life. NO, NO, NO!! Hunter has secrets and knows he should stay away…..but as always….Devney Perry pulls the hero/heroine together, has you rooting for them to be a couple, get past the secrets, and make a life together.
This story is sweet, angsty, SEXY—and did I mention that HOT man bun Hunter is sporting? ANNNNDDDD…who doesn’t love a man who loves another man’s son like his own?? SWOOOOONNNN!!!
I LOVED this story and I hate to see this series end. But I know we have lots more Devney Perry goodness coming our way. Everything she writes is pure GOLD.
