Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his … for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.
Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

That same small hometown feel of Prescott that we’ve all grown quite accustomed to is weaved throughout the story, making The Bitterroot Inn a vividly imaginative tale where one person’s past is connected to someone else’s secrets.
Maisy Holt is literally the definition of Super Mom. Her world revolves around her inn and renovating, family and friends, and her thriving boy, Coby Holt.
Hunter Faraday is the new doctor in town. His intentions are only the best and the goodness in him constantly shines brightly. The very first time he laid eyes on Maisy she stole a piece of his heart and sweet Coby just so happens to steal the rest.
The relationship between Hunter and Coby is every single little thing that is special. I breathed for their conversations and interactions almost as much as I lived for the angst and emotions Maisy and Hunter invoked in me! The dynamic of all three throughout the novel as one family unit was executed in a way I won’t soon forget.
Full of memorable characters and steamy romance, The Bitterroot Inn, much like the rest of the Jamison Valley Series keeps you teethering on the edge of your seat in suspense, drama, and heart pounding, stopping, and punching moments!
***Clears throat*** Here is where I get honest and give you a disclaimer. Here is where I tell you each book in this series can be read as a standalone, which they can, but I must also be really honest with you and tell you that you will not want to stop at just one book. You’ll want to devour this entire series. So here’s my real disclaimer: Go to Prescott, Montana and move into the farmhouse, marry a stranger at a Vegas chapel, try your luck at the ranch, escape to the outpost, and then stop by the inn and fall in love unexpectedly.
From heartwarming feels in The Coppersmith Farmhouse and The Outpost to the second chance romances in both The Clover Chapel and The Lucky Heart, The Bitterroot Inn has that same feel good vibe and warmth this series is known for. Tackling everything from slow burn to insta-love and everything in between, Devney Perry brings a series that became an instant favorite of mine within a matter of minutes to an end.
Final series thoughts? The Jamison Valley series has left me full, elated, and without even realizing it has reminded me so much of why I love reading. It was like going back to my roots. Going back home. The conclusion, the happy ending that’s coming for the main five couples and a few side characters was written with all of Devney’s super fans in mind. You will not be disappointed, not left wanting more, nor with a bittersweet taste in your mouth. The Bitterroot Inn is truly endearing and captivating, enamouring readers with every flip of the page!
Maisy’s story was all I wanted and more! She deserved a happy ending after the hurt she suffered and Hunter, mistakes and all, was the perfect hero for her. I loved the steamy chemistry between Maisy and Hunter and appreciated the fragile emotional bonds Maisy was struggling to create after past, failed relationships.
My favorite bits, however, always involved Maisy’s son, Coby! I utterly adored how Hunter and Coby took to one another so seamlessly and loved seeing Hunter nurture their relationship. If any book boyfriend deserved a dad of the year award..I’d vote Hunter all day long;)
I loved this series when I first devoured it and it’s just as good the second time around!! The characters are relatable, funny, and a little bit damaged, but totally full of love and heart. The small town vibes resonate a homey, friendly feel that I just feel like I just dropped in to visit close friends/family for a bit.
What can I say? Devney Perry has made 2017 a great year of reading for me. This series has been my favorite, by far! I’ve loved each story tremendously.
The Bitterroot Inn is an AMAZING story!
Maisy & Hunter were made to love each other. The connection is immediate and undeniable.
Coby is precious.
Together they form the perfect unit.
Their journey is one of strength and healing.
This was exactly the conclusion I needed to Jamison Valley. Absolutely loved it <3
I became a fan of Devney Perry when I read The Coppersmith Farmhouse. Her writing captivated me from the beginning, and I fell in love with her characters. Maisy Holt was one that I so couldn’t wait for her happy ending. And the wait was worth it!
Maisy was introduced in the first book in this series, and we watched as she struggled and seemed to thrive. She purchased the Bitterrroot Inn shortly after she left her nursing career behind. It’s there that she meets Hunter Faraday, who is a guest staying at the Inn, although he has other connections to Maisy. Their attraction is instant, but they have plenty of secrets between the two of them, although they keep working at their relationship.
It’s bittersweet to see the Jamison Valley series end- they’ve become like family to me-but Devney Perry wrote one heck of an epilogue, which left me feeling very content. But maybe a spin-off for the kids??
I look forward to more from this author in the future!!
This is one series I never wanted to end, but here we are and what a way to go. I loved Devney Perry’s creation of this small town and all these couple connected by emotional events. I’m going to miss these characters but I’m happy to have Perry at the top of my list of must read authors.
The Bitterroot Inn follows Maisy, who from the first book went through hell and back and luckily cam out alive and will a bundle of joy to keep her looking forward. After leaving her position as a nurse she decided to put her all in to raising her son and running her towns motel. Her days were packed with remolding her Motel and loving her little boy, until Hunter. Hunter came out of nowhere for Maisy, he’s a mystery but someone who captures her heart and seems to watch only the best for her. But a mystery man of course has his secrets.
Maisy is the one character I was hoping to get a happy ending, she was a bubbly and naive character in the first book. But she grew up and blossomed into a hard working and dedicated mother and motel owner. But she’s run herself ragged and even with her families support she hasn’t really thought about her future. When she meets Hunter, who stays at her motel, there is instant sparks, however after what she went through there is a bit of hesitation. It was so sweet to watch Maisy open herself up, even though slowly to Hunter, he was a mystery, but I could feel his heart was in a good place.
I was curious about Hunter, I kind of figured out who he was a little way through, but I was curious on how Maisy would react. Hunter was obviously aware of how it could affect her and treaded lightly. He was also extremely sweet to her son and become all alpha male to protect them both from the big bad he knew was after them.
Of course, the rest of the gang is back from all the previous books, each person has grown, and either are married of have children. I loved seeing the HEA for every couple I adored. I loved getting more of Maisy’s family they adore her; her brothers are protective of her and her friends care about her happiness.
Overall I felt this story had less crazy action then the past, but it was just a beautifully written as the rest. The romance was off the charts as always, Hunter is an alpha male who will melt your heart. The whole story wrapped up the series nicely, I tried to take my time reading it knowing this was the end. Nonetheless, this series as a whole is a must read and I can’t wait to see what Perry has in store next.
“Damn, this woman was going to wreck me. Five minutes with her and I wanted a lifetime.”
My very first TOP FAVORITE of 2018 goes to the incredibly talented Devney Perry and her final book in the Jamison Valley Series, THE BITTERROOT INN. I was a newbie to the likes of Ms. Perry and after devouring one novel of hers…ONE…I fell in LOVE with her writing, her characters, and her insane talent. I then binge-read her Jamison Valley series, and night after night, if it was even possible, I fell even harder for her brand of romantic story-telling. This was GREAT for me because I didn’t have to wait long for the highly anticipated final chapter, which is Maisy and Hunter’s story. I did not see this book coming. I mean, I knew it was going to be FANTASTIC, but I had no idea of the emotional punch that it packed. If you ask me if I have a favorite of the series, I won’t be able to answer that. Each book rocked my soul. Each character stole my heart. Each word, page, chapter, novel…fed my addiction for all things romance and I can’t tell you how HAPPY that I am to have found such greatness in Devney Perry’s books. Now that this series has come to an end, I don’t know what I’ll do. I’ll probably reread these books over and over again to quench my thirst, but what I DO KNOW is that we haven’t heard the last of Ms. Perry. 2017 is the year that I fell in love with this series. 2018 will be the year that other readers will discover the genius that is Devney Perry.
“Our first kiss was going to be the lasting kind. The kind she’d never forget. The kiss that erased all others from her past.”
Those of you who have been waiting for Maisy’s happily ever after, get ready for one hell of an emotional rollercoaster. It’s beautiful. It’s heartbreaking. It’s surprising. It’s EPIC. But you already know this going in if you’ve read the others in the series. THE BITTERROOT INN will ground your heart, embrace your soul, and wreck your mind. You will cry tears of joy and tears of sadness, but in the end…you will have great satisfaction in knowing that this happily ever after was worth all of it. What a way to start off the NEW YEAR! I can’t wait to see what this romantic mastermind has in store for us next!

Devney Perry has done it once again! The Bitter Root Inn is the final book in The Jamison Valley series and I could not have been happier that Maisy and Hunter were last. I have to admit, I was not a huge fan of Maisy when she was first introduced but this book definitely changed my mind. Devney is extremely talented and this series is definitely one of my favorites. I’m sad to see the series come to an end, but I’ve most definitely enjoyed the ride.
Maisy is a single mom of an adorable little boy and she’s the new owner to Prescott’s motel. She’s happy living her life with her son, doing what she loves and being around her family. The only thing missing from Maisy’s life is a man, and although that didn’t work out so well in the past, she still wants that fairy tale.
”I wanted a strong and honest man to come crashing into my life. I wanted to be swept off my feet in a whirlwind romance. But more than anything, I wanted to find a man who I could trust completely. A man who wouldn’t hide things from me.”
Maisy knows nothing about the sexy stranger that shows up at her motel, but she can’t help feeling attracted to him.
”But even though he was a stranger and just another guest in my motel, I wanted Hunter Faraday to be as interested in me as I was in him.”
Hunter has his secrets, but one thing is for sure, he wants Maisy. He first saw her years before, but that did nothing to change his feelings. He still wants her, maybe more than before.
”We stared at each other for a moment too long, the air getting thicker as we breathed. F*** me. She had all my nerve endings firing. My hands itched to reach out, to touch her smooth skin, but this counter was keeping me away.”
Even though Hunter is being secretive, the only thing he wants is to be with Maisy. He’s figuring out how to work that out, so he deviates from his plans.
”I know we just started but I’m all in, Maisy. I’m serious about you. And serious means I’m helping you paint your son’s ceiling. It means, when we’re done, we’re going to sleep together in your bed. And serious also means that, at some point, I want you to feel comfortable introducing me to Coby as the man that sleeps in your bed every night.”
I’m sad to see this series come to an end, but I’m so happy at the same time because this series has been amazing. I’ve loved all of the characters and their stories and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Devney Perry has become one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to see what she has planned for the future.
5+ Beautifully Written Stars!
How Devney Perry can get better with each book I have no idea but she does. I loved the first four books in the series and the final installment was amazing. Bitterroot Inn is one of my favorite of the series!!! It has all my musts for a five star read. Everything from Uber alpha Hunter, hot sexy pages that keep you up late reading, lots of twists and turns, tons of mystery and characters that you won’t forget. Few books make me cry but this beauty did it more then once.
Maisy’s story has been a long time coming and I am glad it’s here. While you don’t necessarily need to read the other books before this it would definitely give you more background if you did. Hunter shows up at Maisy’s Inn and the sparks and mystery start with a bang. I loved how crazy in depth Devney went with the mystery! Hunter had secrets from the start and I never would of guessed what they were. I had my theories and poof they were demolished a few times.
Maisy has had a tough few years and the author knows how to twist the heart and gut you with Maisy’s rocky journey. She has to go through a bit of heartache and healing. I won’t spoil it for you but the ending it worth the amazing ride you take.
Maisy’s son Coby was such a heartwarming addition to the book. Bitterroot Inn has some depth to it and not one with fluff. It’s a love story with well developed characters and a rich storyline. You need to set some time aside to read this amazing story and peel back it’s many layers. The way she braided all the family and friends into this book was one of the many highlights of this story.
I read a lot of romance and this is one of the best series I’ve read ever. Dive in with a cup of tea and get ready to laugh a lot, cry a little and swoon over Devney’s alpha guys that rival any I’ve been lucky enough to read.
Fabulous! I loved Maisy and Hunter in this book! Their story was filled with secrets, twists and turns and nothing but love. Loved this book! What a fantastic, sweet ending to a series that I know I would surely love to see keep going.
Devney writes strong characters, adorable kids and sweet but sassy ladies and I simply can’t get enough!
The Bitterroot Inn was a phenomenal tale laced with secrets, growing love, adorable kids, and relationship goals I am envious of! If you pick up any one of the books in this series, you will find that you will be sucked in right away and wanting to live in Prescott. I have become a Perry Pusher, I tell everyone that has not heard of her or read anything of hers yet to go immediately and start with the first book in the series and become as hooked as I am on all of her words!
This was a bittersweet end to a fantastic series. Emotional love stories, sometimes starting on the wrong foot, new beginnings and ultimately, epic love to last a lifetime with teddy bear alphas, cute kids and extended families. Can I live here, please??
I loved everything about this book! Literally made my heart melt. Not only was Hunter the swoon worthy book boyfriend but Maisey was a Kick A$$ female who was witty and charming. All the feels and I couldn’t put it down! Be prepared to devour this in one sitting!
The Bitterroot Inn is the sweetest way to end the Jamison Valley Series!!
Maisy Holt has tried her hardest to to make a good life, a happy life for herself and her son, Coby. After killing the man (in self-defense) who got her pregnant, kidnapped her and her best friend and tried to force her to overdose to kill their unborn child, Maisy was far from trusting. She ran her Inn, worked hard and kept busy being a great single parent to Coby. She was envious of her friends and family but happy for them that they found their matches. Would that ever happen for her? Would she ever trust again? After a string of awful set-ups by her friends, Maisy was starting to lose hope. Then, Hunter Faraday walked into The Bitterroot Inn.
He had sworn to stay away. He was there to watch. He was there to keep them safe. He knew walking into her Inn wasn’t smart, but he just couldn’t stay away from the beautiful Maisy. He rented a room while his house was being built even though he risked her finding out his secrets. She was beautiful and he was drawn to her like a lost ship to a lighthouse.
“Damn, this woman was going to wreck me. Five minutes with her and I wanted a lifetime. But since I’d never get it, I had to get out of this lobby. For my own sanity.”
After a rough start, Hunter and Maisy start to grow close. Hunter knows he is in it for the long haul with this woman but will she forgive him once she knows the truth?
Maisy is in danger of falling hard for Hunter. They only thing keeping her from going all in is his illusiveness to his past. She has trust issues, she knows this, but she is trying to remind herself that Hunter is not Everett. He has proven to be kind not only to her but to her son. He is also so good-looking she can’t speak sometimes.
“Hunter was a benchmark type of man, a ruler I’d use to measure the physical appearance of any man in my future.”
Slowly, they built a relationship, she trusted that in time he would share what he was hesitant to tell her. Things were looking up for Maisy until that day the man in the suit walked in to the lobby of her motel and served her with papers that threatened to take away her happiness. Hunter, however, had a plan. He would do anything to keep she and Coby safe, even if it meant losing them.
It was so nice visiting The Bitterroot Inn. To step into Maisy’s world and to visit old friends. Devney Perry gave us such amazing stories in this series. She made us all want to visit Prescott, Montana again and again, even if it was only for a little while.
The Bitterroot Inn is book five in the Jamison Valley series, and at this point, I’m thoroughly invested in all the characters and their stories. Maisy and Hunter’s story is a friends-to-lovers, small-town romance with a wonderful cast of characters and a suspenseful plot with a stunning revelation.
Maisy went through hell in The Coppersmith Farmhouse, but you don’t have to read that book to understand her, as there is just enough backstory in this one to catch you up. But these books are all so good, I highly recommend reading them all and in order. But that’s just me, as I’m a series junkie. And even knowing Hunter is keeping a huge secret, I couldn’t help but love him. He’s doing his best to protect Maisy and her son and loves them deeply despite it all. I can’t say I liked the deception, but it didn’t make me hate him. If I can’t connect with the main characters, it’s really hard for me to love a book. But I could sympathize with both Maisy and Hunter and at times, my heart truly broke for both of them. Hunter not giving up on her was what had me fully cheering for him through it all.
I’ve fallen in love with this little Montana town and all of these characters and am pretty sad to see this series come to an end with book 6. It’s going to be a series I reread over and over again.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I give The Bitterroot Inn by Devney Perry 5 out of 5 stars!
Just like the rest of the books in this series this one had me hook line and sinker from the very beginning. Its kind of a bitter sweet finish now that the series has come to an end. Each book in the series has become my new favourite. No one can write small town romances quite like Devney Perry.
Maisy and Hunters story certainly came with its fair share of heartache and trauma. Poor Maisy is she ever destined to forget Everett. Hats off to her for turning her life around after the devastation he left behind and Hunter was just the right man for the job!
This book has made me laugh, cry and wince with pain on a few occasions. It definitely was a great book to finish on as we have seen this small town grow with love, life and children.
Rating this 4.5 stars
Devney Perry check so many boxes with this small town romance, second chance at love. Maisy and Hunter have to find their ways through past deceits and lies, learning to trust each other to finally reach their HEA ending together.
This is one of my favorite stories by Devney because of angst and loss experienced by Hunter and his second chance at love with Maisy.
This book was so mysterious from the beginning trying to figure out how Hunter knew Maisy and what has happened in his past. But after Maisy having to watch all her friends and older brother find their other half I was so happy to hear her story.
Maisy was such a strong character even though it took her a while to deal with her past and not avoid it as much as possible. And Hunter was so swoon worthy and could not stay away from Maisy as soon as he unexpectedly saw her. Hunter with Coby was swoon worthy and made me melt how he seamlessly fit in with their little family.
I absolutely loved this story and couldn’t get enough of it. I basically did everything I could to devour it in one day.
The Bitterroot Inn was amazing. I loved the build and details as everything unfolded. I was filled with so much anticipation and loved every second!
This has been my favorite book from the whole series, and I know I’ve said that almost every time but now having read everything but the Candle Place I’m pretty sure it’s going to stay my favorite.
I’ve been waiting for Maisy’s story since we met her in the very first book. I’ve grown to love her so much throughout the whole series and the best was definitely saved for last.
Hunter is such an incredible character and he was absolutely perfect for the single mom and her incredible son.
This series was so full of love, the way the men loved their women, their kids was something so special.
I absolutely love the epilogue and it would be awesome to someday get a second gen from this group. I can’t even imagine how all the men would deal with their daughters finding love!
Loved Maisy and Hunter’s story – this whole series is like a warm blanket – reliable, hot and gorgeously romantic
This series just about killed me. I didn’t want to read this book beside I knew it was the last in the series. I hate the ending of a good series. It always makes me wonder if I will ever find another good series again. However, the story of Hunter and Maisy was the perfect ending. If you read from the beginning of series we read of what happened to Maisy and Gigi. Maisy is strong willed and independent, but still has a reliance on her close-knit circle. Hunter was keeping a big secret, that was evident from the first page. I felt protective of Maisy right from the beginning. Her life was on track and she seemed happy. Yet I knew a relationship was missing, Hunter filled that, but I was still guarded for her. Ok now I will go cry and compare to every book to this series.
Although I love this series, I love “The Bitterroot Inn” just that little more. I know there is a 6th book in this series, but that one was added later. Original this was the last book in the series and it would’ve made a great ending. Now I’m even more curious for the next book. Could it top this good of an ending?
I’ve wanted to read Maisie’s story for a while now. I was intrigued by her from the moment I first read about her in The “Coppersmith Farmhouse”. Even so I was hoping that the second book in the series would be about her. That wasn’t the case. I had to wait until book 5 to see her find her happily ever after and it was so worth the wait. I loved every story in between, but this one is the icing on the cake.
So I really recommend reading this book, or any book by Devney Perry really.
