Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his … for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.
Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

What a great ending to, what has become, one of my favorite series. Ever since The Coppersmith Farmhouse, I have been waiting to see Maisy get her happy ending. After all that she has been through and all that she does for others, you can’t help but root for her. In walks Hunter, the alpha with a tender heart. He is completely swoon-worthy! The chemistry in this book is off the charts, but besides that at the heart is a solid plot with secrets, healing, and love. I have become so invested in all the characters in these books that I sorry to see it end, but the ride was well worth it. I can’t wait to see what Devney writes next!
First, this cover is amazing!! With each book in this series, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the color scheme of the new books lol purple is my fave! The book is also amazing! Hunter and Maisy’s story. Hunter = new book boyfriend! My first top favorite read of 2018!!!
The perfect end to the Jamison Valley series.
After The Outpost (and Beau, swoon…), my expectations for Maisy’s story were set high. And Devney did not disappoint. The heroine who fell on hard times in the first book, and that I’ve come to admire more with each new chapter in the series, meets the dreamy Hunter Faraday in this final book. Her baggage plus his secrets equal the perfect amount of intrigue to keep you invested in their love story.
This book has the perfect amount of romance, real life, alpha male, strong heroine, steam, and smooth pacing that will keep your pages turning. All of our favorite Prescott residents make an appearance for us to check in on their happily-ever-afters. And the epilogue – I can’t even. It weaves all of the beautiful story strands into a perfectly crafted bow that will make you want to smile, tear up, and read it all over from the beginning.
This is a series that you can fall in love with. I certainly did and the feelings have gotten stronger with each book. Though I hate to leave Prescott behind, I will not hesitate to one-click and read anything that Devney Perry writes in the future. Her signature blend with the perfect bit of everything will hook even the most seasoned romance reader with fresh stories, lovingly written with the happiest of endings.
P.S. If I said PERFECT too many times it is because I couldn’t find a stronger or more adequate synonym.
The Bitterroot Inn was another amazing story in the Jamison Valley series. I have loved Maisy’s character from the beginning. She went through so much that I really wanted her happily ever after. I really enjoyed her work on the Inn and the pride she had in that. She was a great mom to Coby too. Hunter was the perfect, gorgeous stranger to help Maisy move on from the past. I was really intrigued by all his secrets and dreaded the moment they came to light. There was the perfect amount of angst and suspense to balance out the romance and passion between these two. They had an amazing connection, even when she didn’t know him all that well. And I loved every moment of them getting to know each other.
I have loved every incredible story in this series. The characters are wonderful and lovable. Their stories keep you glued to the pages and wanting more. There is nothing better than that. It is a very bittersweet end to this series. I may have had a tear in my eye after the epilogue. Don’t judge.
I completely loved this story. We have long waited to hear Maisy’s story and it did NOT disappoint.
Completely hot, hot, hot! Hunter. Wowza. I could use me a Hunter! As much hotness as there was, there were also sweet and endearing parts, as well as parts that made my heart race and kept me turning page after page.
I devoured this story in just a matter of hours, Devney Perry does it again!!! You will not be disappointed.
I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect ending to an amazing series. Maisy Holt is such a strong female lead. We have been rooting for her to find her happily ever after. The love she finds for her and her son in this book will leave you heart happy! This is by far my most recommended series!
Where to even start? This was the most amazing book! I absolutely loved everything about it! Every. Single. Thing.
Maisy Holt is a survivor and a savior. She survived Everett and while doing so saved her son Coby. It took a few years and life changes before she was “okay”, and everyone in Prescott will tell you that she’s moved on and all of that nastiness is in the past. With her to-do list and her renovations, the Bitterroot Inn has been her saving grace.
Even if she occasionally feels a twinge of envy when in the presence of her friends and family and their significant others, she’s not quite ready to actively pursue a relationship. That is, until Hunter Faraday walks into her lobby.
Hunter has a deep dark secret that he’s keeping close. Protecting it until the time is right, as if there could ever be such a time. He was drawn to Maisy the first time he laid eyes on her and now that he’s returned to Prescott he finds himself pulled to her against all common sense and self-warnings. From the moment he heard her laughter and saw her smile he belonged to her. But how can a man build a relationship with the woman of his heart when he’s forced to hold so much of himself back?
I cannot say how much I adored these characters! My heart hurt for Maisy as I learned some of the techniques she had indulged in to help her deal with the effects Everett’s words had on her. On the surface she is a woman of strength but as the story progresses that strength grows and takes root deep inside of her.
Hunter comes with quite a bit of baggage himself and my heart was heavy when all of his secrets were revealed. Ultimately, he was a man deeply in love and prepared to do whatever it took to make things right.
That right there feeds my romantic soul. Hunter never once gave up and he made sure Maisy knew that he never would. Sigh.
Some interesting things I learned from The Bitterroot Inn:
Kicking a man in the cojones can be a precursor to falling in love
You can forget Santa Claus if you’ve got The Package Man – get your minds out of the gutter
Nervous energy can be transmitted from the page into your body resulting in tapping feet, bouncing legs and chewed off nails – Ms. Perry owes me a manicure
One text message can turn you into a sobbing mess – oh gawd that text killed me!
With just a look, I’m already in love with Mason Drummond
And the perfect epilogue can make you smile even as you weep because it is just…so…perfect.
Thank you Devney Perry for introducing me to all of the Jamison Valley characters that were parading in your head. I’ve absolutely loved getting to know them and while I will certainly revisit them in the future, I am saddened that for now the door is closing on this beautiful and amazing series.
I received an advanced copy from the author but I choose to keep my pre-order purchase.
This book blew me away. I was turned on to this author by some reader friends and got lost in Devney’s world. These Jamison Valley men are all alpha hot and very swoon-worthy. The women are all strong and have overcome great trials in their lives.
At first glance in Coppersmith Farmhouse, I wasn’t sure I cared for Maisy, but we are able to watch her grow into the wonderful woman she has become. We saw her overcome the bad hand that she was dealt in that first book and fight her way to being a fantastic single mother to Colby and a proud business owner. Her metamorphosis has been amazing. And now in This book she finds her happily ever after. I love that this book shows that her strength doesn’t come from a man, but is further enhanced by him.
Hunter was one of those characters as well. I didn’t instantly love him from the beginning, but in the end he proves himself to be worthy of our Maisy. The twist that he brings to the story was great. It kept me guessing for a bit and I love that in a book!
I am very sad that this series is over but am very anxious to see what Devney Perry has in store for us next!
An amazing ending to a fantastic series. The Bitter Root Inn finally gives us Maisey’s story and how she has finally picking up the pieces of her life after the devastating event that left her in shambles.
I love single parent romances. There’s just something about throwing a child into a story that makes it better. Maisey and her son Coby are now living above the local hotel, The Bitter Root Inn. There she meets tenant Hunter. Sparks fly instantly but Maisey is not looking to move on.
Sparks fly between Maisey and Hunter. Hunter builds a relationship with Coby. Secrets come out and Maisey has to try to find her way.

Beautiful ending to a awesome series!!
This book was so beautiful! Love Maisy and after all she’d been through, she needed her HEA.
Maisy is a single mom to Cody and owns the Bitterroot Inn.
After all that she went through with Cody’s father, she’d sworn off doctors and won’t set a foot in the hospital.
Hunter..sigh..he’s so swoony..
When Maisy meets Hunter for the first time it was insta lust.
Hunter had sworn to keep away and only watch Maisy and Cody from afar, but after seeing her walking in the streets of Prescot, he couldn’t stay away any longer.
Loved Hunter and Cody’s relationship. So beautiful.
This is a beautiful book about forgiveness.
Going to miss this series, but looking forward to what Devney has next for her readers.
5 “beautiful book” Stars!!
What an amazing way to finish this series. I’m so sad right now, I knew when I started reading this book that this was it for this series. I was not ready for it to end and I want more. Maisy is awesome! She went through a very rough time a few years ago, but she survived! She became stronger, brave, and independent. Maisy has tried her hardest to make a good life for her and her son Coby (which by the way has to be the cutest kid ever!) She ran her Inn and worked hard to be a great single parent to Coby. She was envious of her friends and family, she wanted what they all have….someone her and Coby could spend the rest of their lives with. After a run of awful set-ups by her friends she was starting to lose hope. Then walks in…..Hunter Faraday!! He’s somewhat mysterious and secretive and that threw up a red flag for her. He tries hard to work his way into her and her sons life. They both have secrets, and once they are all out, will he be able to keep her or will he lose her for good? You will have to read this book to find out. As I said before I’m sorry to see this series end, but I am looking forward to meeting new characters from Devney.

4.5 Stars (which I believe is the lowest rating of the series…so I think that says something. It says READ THIS SERIES!) Since book one, Devney Perry has been on my ‘authors I MUST read’ list. Her books will always be on my shelf and in my kindle.
So I feel like I’ve been waiting for Maisy’s story for FOREVER! Ever since Coppersmith Farmhouse, I’ve been on the edge of seat just waiting… impatiently…
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Maisy and Hunter… what can I say other than awesome?!
I can count on Devney Perry to release a book with great writing, a great story, and the ability to make me connect with the characters emotionally. The Bitterroot Inn has all of these qualities…and more! Single mom, check. Hot doctor, check. Cute as hell kid, check.
The fifth book of the Jamison Valley series was a great way to end it. As much as I wanted Maisy’s HEA right after book one, it was a perfect way to circle around and bring this amazing series to an end. Maisy was such a big part of the first book, you really get connected to her and want to get her story ASAP. Waiting was pure agony but once I got my hands on it, all I can say is that it was worth the wait.
Like I said in my review of The Coppersmith Farmhouse, I could read this series every single day and I would be happy. I’m obsessed.
I wish I had had time to reread the series again before I started this so I could have dove straight into this head first. (I have a problem of getting so excited and impatient for a book in a series but once the book comes out, it just sits on my shelf or kindle; or it takes me a while to finish-which happened here. I would’ve read this in a day if I had started the series over again.)
The only problem I had was that there was at least three or four times, in the middle of a chapter, a month would just be skipped. I’m not a big fan of time elapsing in the middle of a chapter. I understand time needs to go by but in this, an event would occur and before personally, I emotionally felt like it was over, I was hit with “it’s been one month since.. yada yada yada.”
Oh, another thing I didn’t like…Hunter had a man bun! Yuck…no thanks. (Well, I guess I should say, in my mind, he did not have one.)
*Side note to Devney: if I start a petition and get a lot of signatures, can we get a novella with Milo and Sara’s story?
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. I loved Maisey and Hunter’s story. I couldnt put it fown and was a perfect ending to this series.
I was fortunate enough to find and read Devney Perry in 2017 when she released her first book The Coppersmith Farm House. Never has a debut author made such a lasting impression on me. Her words flow like a seasoned writer and after five books I guess she kind of is now.
She has written one of my all time favorite series. The way her words describe the small town setting in Montana made me fell like I was living in those mountains, eating in the cafe and shopping on Main Street. This series was unique in how the books just kept getting better and better with each one. A hard feat for any author to not lose that momentum.
The Bitterroot Inn focuses on Maisy and Hunter. Maisy has probably overcome the most obstacles of any character throughout the series and she did it with dignity and grace. She’s like a breath of fresh hair and warm sunshine. Hunter is new in town, a guest at the Bitterroot Inn and quickly falls for Maisy.
The have undeniable chemistry and humor between them. Devney is known for her Alpha males and Hunter is no exception. He has a heart of gold and he’s a protector. I loved their story. The epilogue was golden and while I’m sad for this series to end I’m happy that all my beloved characters got their happy ever after.
I’m looking forward to new work from this author. I’m sure she’ll continue to wow me with her words. Five stars!!
“She was the big fish. That’s what Dad had always said about my mom. He’d used fishing analogies to teach me about women. Catch the big fish, Son. And when you do, don’t let her go, no matter how hard she fights.”
If you’re a follower of my blog, you know I LOVE, ADORE, and genuinely can’t get enough of the Jamison Valley series. There’s just something about these characters, their story, and the authenticity of their interactions that pulls me in every single time. The Bitterroot Inn was no different.
Maisy is a character we met in the very first book – fellow nurse and friend of Gigi when she arrives in town. Maisy had a terrible experience that left her scarred and a little bit scared to live life. Running the inn, she finds happiness amongst the leftover turmoil that occasionally swirls inside her. She is one of the most genuine, caring, and heartfelt characters I’ve ever read. Since she was first mentioned a few books ago, I decided right then I wanted to be her best friend and an honorary member of her family.
Hunter arrives at the inn, requesting a room, and Maisy pretty much embarrasses herself. (I can absolutely relate to that!) It seems that anytime Hunter is around, Maisy can’t find her words, is in the middle of a mess, or scares him half to death. But it’s in these moments that the two seem to form some sort of bond. I watched them go from strangers, to the beginning of friends, to so much more. This journey was so beautiful, too, because not only did I get to see Maisy and Hunter falling in love, I got to see Hunter fall in love with her little boy.
This is one of my favorites in this series. I know I’ve made it sound like everything is simple and an easy path from strangers to romance, but it really wasn’t. There are secrets, plots behind the scenes, and some rollercoaster emotions. Definitely a story that will fulfill your romantic needs, but also just a story that allows us to hope for such a life as these.
What a perfect way to end an incredible series! The Bitterroot Inn had the perfect balance of sweet romance with a side of sexy and dash of mystery and suspense. Devney once again did not disappoint and by the end of the book I felt the journey for all the characters in Prescott, Montana had come full circle. The minute I finished The Coppersmith Farmhouse, the first book in the Jamison Valley series, it was Maisy’s story I was dying to read. After everything she went through I needed to see this woman get the HEA she deserved.
Determined to put the past behind her and make a better life for her and her 3 year old son Coby Maisy Holt’s days are filled with making her motel The Bitterroot Inn one of the best establishments to stay in while visiting Prescott. Her nights are filed with being the best mother to her son Coby. And although she is a single mother she has lots of help from her amazing family and her beloved friends who make it their mission to make sure Coby will grow up surrounded by lots of love. Everything seems to going good despite many failed attempts at dating thanks to her loyal girlfriends until one day in walks Hunter Faraday and Maisy’s life is forever changed. Upon meeting Hunter he is shrouded in mystery and not much of talker. The attraction is instant and the more they run into each other and spend time together the layers start to peel back and I found myself falling for him the same way Maisy seemed to be. I LOVED these two together! It was nice to see Hunter slowly break down her walls and to see Maisy genuinely happy. And when he starts to form this bond with her son that was it I was a goner completely sold. Soon enough both Hunter and Maisy’s past start to catch up to them and threaten their happiness. What happens next is one crazy ride not to be missed!
And so the end is complete. I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters I’ve grown to love but what a journey it has been! The Jamison Valley series is one of my favorites of 2017. And although The Bitterroot Inn can be read as a stand alone I highly recommend starting the series from the beginning and going from there as I have loved every book in this series. I’m looking forward to the new year and all the amazing things Devney has in store for us.
