Poppy Maysen carries a journal in her purse. Its pages were filled long ago by a man who craved adventure, lived life to the fullest and never failed to make her laugh. The journal is his birthday list—one she vows to complete. She’ll do the things he wanted to do most. Because maybe, just maybe, if she can finish his list, she can start to live again. Poppy expects going through the birthday list … through the birthday list will be hard. She expects it to hurt. But what she doesn’t expect is Cole. Could the man who watched her heart shatter be the one to put it back together again?

Such a beautiful story!! Soooo emotional. Devney Perry’s writing flows so well and hooks you. So many little “life lessons” in this book. Hard to read in some spots but you know you have to. Kinda makes you realize with everything life throws at you, you gotta go with the flow and get through it!
Devney Perry became an automatic one-click author for me after the first two books in her Jamison Valley series (if you haven’t read that series yet, please do!). I was so excited when I found out that she was releasing a standalone. And then after reading the blurb, I became fascinated (and may have stalked her Facebook page a bit in anticipation)!
Poppy had been married to her college sweetheart, Jamie, when tragedy struck. Jamie had compiled a list of things that he wanted to accomplish by each birthday, and kept it in a journal. It was his hope to complete it before each birthday. Because he could not finish it- and with the hope that it would help her move on- Poppy decided to tackle the items herself, and she gained some help when she ran into Detective Cole Goodman again. Some of the items were huge-like opening her own restaurant “The Maysen Jar”. Others were crazy and fun (swim in green jello, anyone?), but all helped her realize that there was more to life than what she had been experiencing the last five years.
I really really enjoyed this book. Devney Perry has a wonderful way of writing characters that you like. And I loved all the characters- especially Cole. And Molly.
I highly recommend this book!
