The Kate Roark Magic Series, Book 2
By: Laura Rich
Narrated by: Jessica Klimushyn
Laura Rich penned a great follow-up to the 1st book in this series. She continues to create interesting storylines in the imaginative world she created. She also introduces more supernatural and magical beings in this book. Kate Roark’s magical powers finally awaken, she even has her own familiar now, Luna, a white pigeon. While on the phone telling her Mom about her awakening she hears her Mom getting kidnapped. Her Mom warns her to not look for her of course Kate does not listen and starts using her magic to find her. Starting off by summoning the person who was hired to kidnap her. Leo, winds up helping her, as does Indira. Their adventure brings them face to face, with Fae, Gnomes, dragons and even demons. The hunt reveals interesting twists and turn of events upon finding her Mom and finding out who her father really is. There is never a dull moment in this book, it action packed and will have your head spinning and bringing you to the edge of your seat at times. I am looking forward to what happens in Kate Roark’s world next. Laura Rich, thank you for another great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Jessica Klimushyn is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings the character to life, gives each their own voice and personality. She does an amazing job with the different accents too. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
Funny story of a young lady coming into her magical powers while searching for her mom
I loved this book. I read the whole book in one sitting. The book was funny and serious. Kate is an adorable teen who has been well raised by a single mom who happens to be a witch. Kate is very responsible. She works hard. It is not the first book in the series but can be read as a standalone book. It has some quirky characters and a lot of secrets come out. I look forward to Kate’s next adventure. Her companions Luna and Leo are very helpful and also well developed.
Kate finds out she has some magic. She gets a familiar, a pigeon named Luna. Just when she excitedly is telling her mom on the phone the connection is lost. She rushes to find her mom, only to find out her mom has been kidnapped. Now what?
This is the second book in the paranormal/fantasy in the Kate Roark Magical Series. With interesting, quirky characters and lots of action, this is a book that is hard to put down. The storyline flows well and is filled with magic, danger, a quest, surprises and suspense. I like how Kate matured during this story and how she is so independent and determined. The creative and varied characters that were added to this story made the book very interesting to read. The action sequences were well described allowing the reader to visualize the scenes. I would definitely enjoy reading more about Kate and her life.
Audiobook review: The Binding Witch and the Bounty Hunter is the second book in the Kate Roark Magic YA series. The story contains several surprises that unravel as Kate is searching for her mother. Several different supernaturals are introduced and provide for a colorful tale that is interesting and entertaining. The narrator did a good job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
