Very moving
Bran is so businesslike. So in tune with his head, but what about his heart? He is so insecure about himself, that he won me over in a heartbeat. But what was he thinking choosing Carina! Steph is the one for him, surely?
Amazing. It touched my heart. It moved me. I could only give 5 stars; it deserves 10. There are a lot of books out there, but this one really stood out for me; it was something special. Different, in a good way. I recommend this to everyone who loves a good romance!
I listened to the audio version. The narrator had a soft-spoken, sweet voice that suited the story in a great way. Very clear. The only minor thing was the volume. She spoke very softly for the descriptive bits, but quite a bit louder when she did the voices, the conversations I mean. I had to turn the volume way up for the soft-spoken bits and then when they argued, it was booming through my ears. She did a really good job, she has such a pleasant voice, it’s just that difference in volume that was a bit too much. If she makes those two volumes more equal it’d be really great!
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Stephanie Caldwell made the classic mistake… she fell in love with her boss.
The fact that Bran is blind makes no difference to Steph—she thinks he’s the most handsome man she’s ever laid eyes on. But she can’t quit–she needs this job to pay for her daughter’s medical treatment. To make things worse, he just got engaged!
Billionaire Branson Knight is pragmatic about his love life. He knows women don’t see him as a man, but as a blind person, worthy of pity. His only value lies in his wealth. So his engagement is merely a means to an end. But the last thing he wants to end is his relationship with Stephanie–he’s become dangerously dependent on his efficient personal assistant.
When Bran’s friends drag him off to Las Vegas, he convinces Steph to go along, to prevent him from panicking in the noisy, crowded environment. His fiancée, however, sees the trip as the perfect opportunity to coerce Bran into a quickie wedding. Steph and his friends are determined to prevent the disastrous union.
MY TAKE
I thought I’d already reviewed this when I read it the first time, but I guess not. I loved the book then too. But, since then, I’ve read all four books in the series, and this time I listened to the just released audiobook. It was even more fun this time because I now know Bran’s friends. It was such a delight to see them again. I love their teasing joviality–and patience– with Bran as they try to help him find himself again.
The story is full of twists and turns and the romance sizzles while staying a clean read. The narrator did a fabulous job!
A full five stars!
Stephanie gets herself in trouble by falling in love with her boss. She is the personal assistant to the wealthy Branson Knight who is blind. When Bran announces he’ll be marrying someone else, who clearly doesn’t love him, Stephanie becomes concerned about the care for her daughter with cystic fibrosis if she has to find a different job.
Bran is set on keeping Stephanie in his life because of how much help she is to him, though thankfully he has others around him that know he’s lying to himself. He has feelings for her as well and they get a little help going in the right direction due to some interesting manipulation.
I thought this book was so well done. Not only did his condition add to the story, and his personality, it did so in a way that proved that with the right understanding, blindness isn’t, or doesn’t have to be, a disability as the general population might believe. I thought both Bran’s condition and Steph’s daughter’s CF were treated with respect and sincerity.
For me, I also like a plausible plot that makes sense alongside the romance. This was exactly that. Especially in a secret marriage, the way things transpire was logical and had me turning the pages without stop.
This was definitely one of those books I stayed up far too late reading! I highly recommend it and will be reading the next one very soon.
This was a well-written story of a video game and resort CEO, along with his three closest friends, all now billionaires. But they hold something else in common, going back to their friendship that started a camp for kids with disabilities. In an attempt to secure stock for a drug company that would help his friend Finn and his personal assistant’s daughter Ellie, Branson has struck a deal to marry a woman he doesn’t love and who can’t see past his disability. He comes to realize, with a little help from his friends, that he’s fallen in love with that personal assistant, Stephanie. And she with him.
This was a fun read, with conflicts that are common among individuals with disabilities coming to light. I’m hoping that there’s a sequel with Finn…
Loved It
This a great story overcoming lots of different issues and finding love. Branson was billionaire who has been blind since he was a baby because of cancer, he and his best friends have become rich because of the strength of each of them and their disability. Stephanie is his personal assistant and so much more. She is a single mom who’s daughter has CF. They have a lot to overcome.
This was a good story with good main characters. I liked the forward that the author included. It gave some extra insights into her family experiences when it came to people being without sight. She adds that in ways that benefit the story a lot.
Finn, Jarrett, Cole are good, long-time friends who really want to have Bran’s back even more than he wants to remain more independent. He’s dealing with some insecurities that they aren’t aware of but they do truly want to help. They also want the Bran that they knew for. The adventurous almost fearless friend that they knew before. And they are getting tired of his shutting them out and isolating himself.
Carina is the villain of the piece but she isn’t alone in it. There are plenty of plots swirling around in the background. There is also more to Carina than first expected as well.
The way that the secret marriage played out was a little different than I was expecting.
There is a good H.E.A. which the Epilogue pulls together very nicely.
Loved, loved LOVED this novel by Tamie Dearen!! This novel is about Branson and Stephanie. Branson is a wealthy, successful man but believes that he doesn’t have a chance at love because he is blind. Stephanie is Branson’s assistant and believes that he is way out of her league….
I adored Brans and Stephanie!! Brans is such a strong character and his blindness doesn’t detract from his swoon-worthiness. I can definitely see why Steph fell in love with him! Their relationship was really cute. Although it was a little frustrating that they wouldn’t admit their feelings for each other, the ending was definitely worth it! I loved Fordham. He was such a darling and I’m so glad that Brans had him in his life.
Overall, a beautiful story not to be missed!! I would recommend this to all lovers of clean, sweet inspiration romance!!
Could not put this down. Already reading the next book in the series.
I really loved this story of a disadvantaged person finding love. Tamie Dearen writes clean, beautiful romances.
Even billionaires have issues – Branson is blind and has a true low-life for a father. Tamie Dearen writes characters with such depth, love and understanding that you will not want to miss this story. Watch Bran and Steph discover a path to true happiness despite his father and his self centered fiancee. See how the other three billionaires have their buddy’s back as they try to return Branson to his extroverted self. I could not put the book down. This is not a piece of fluff.
Branson was physically blind, but also blinded emotionally…he couldn’t see that someone could love him just the way he was. Stephanie is a divorced single mom who works as Branson’s personal assistant and also happens to love Branson. Their story is filled with highs and lows, but the ending is worth it all.
Loved this book! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, It went a completely different way! You will want to read Branson and Stepanie’s story.
A page turner, The Billionaire’s Secret Marriage packs a punch with characters you love to love and love to hate…or at least strongly dislike. Favorite character: Finn. I look forward to reading more Tamie Dearen novels.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. It has it all, romance, heartbreaks, heros and evil schemers. Bran is a self made billionaire that doesn’t let his physical impairment stand in the way of his end goal. Stephanie is his personal assistant and has been in love with him for most of the two years she has worked for him. Once he becomes engaged to someone else her heart breaks and she can no longer believe in a happily ever after for them. Can they find it?
As I read this book I laughed, cried, got angry, you name it and it’s there. I fell in love with these characters, especially Bran’s lifelong friends. I know you will love them as well. Tamie Dearen has done it again with a wonderful clean romance.
As with all of the books I’ve read from Tamie Dearen, I loved it. Couldn’t stop reading; two sittings. Get it, you won’t be dissapointed.
Loved this book! Can’t say enough good things about it. Very unique and well written. Highly recommend!
