Billionaires can be thankful, too…Wyatt Fletcher knows he can’t win the silly dating game Danny concocted eleven months ago. Why couldn’t he get a holiday earlier in the year to plan his date? Faced with a wedding rehearsal, a Thanksgiving feast, and an actual wedding, all within a few weeks of each other, he decides a fake date will help him sneak through the season without too many questions … without too many questions being asked.
It doesn’t matter that it’s not real. He’s just hanging out for the holiday at the end of the year.
For Lauren Hunter, art is everything. Whether it’s painting, sculpting, or knitting, she attacks every new project with gusto. She’s a woman with a low income, and even lower expenses, all in the name of pursuing her art. She’ll take any job as long as it pays well and it’s low on commitment.
When Wyatt offers her a one-night gig she sees a chance to add to her casual work schedule and buy more art supplies. It doesn’t matter that it’s not real. Weddings and Thanksgiving feasts make great inspiration for her art.
Can Wyatt and Lauren discover how much they have in common before the Macy’s Day Parade is a distant memory?

Practical down-to-earth Lauren has so many irons in the fire that she barely has time to breathe, let alone time for meaningless relationships. Ditching her 30th birthday party in favour of an early night, she doesn’t take into account the long line to get a ride home. When Wyatt offers her his limousine, she fully expects it to comes with strings attached and is surprised when he steps back, allowing to leave on her own. However, when he keeps popping up in unexpected places, each encounter allows her to know more about the charming man with a sense of humour. Wyatt has a hard time finding a date, one that is more interested in him rather than what the girl can get out of him. Lauren comes as a refreshing surprise. Her easy acceptance of him, her practical no-nonsense approach to life and her independence all draw him in. This lighthearted novella is entertaining and romantic and although it is a standalone, it certainly helps to have read the previous books in the series, as each book is a follow-on. The reunion of friends in the closing chapter makes this novel about people who are family by choice rather than birth. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
The only real complaint I have about this series is that the books are just too short to fully satisfy my voracious need for more. I’m loving this group of friends and I just want to know everything about their lives. Wyatt and Lauren are adorable together and I loved how low drama they are. I thought it was so much fun the way the universe kept bringing them back together. From meet cute to maybe forever, this lightning-fast little read is as sweet as the best holiday desserts.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Farmer and farmer’s daughter? Too sketchy background to tell!
3.5-4stars
I found this an okay, short romance with fortuitous chance encounters at the heart and some heat but it’s too short. Both H and h are artists and they don’t even get to see each other’s work. Plus, the source of the H’s fortune is never explained; he seems a nice enough, down-to-earth, limousine-driven moneybags, but there’s really no explanation of what he does (farm?) apart from hanging with his guy friends in Melbourne, Australia, and then courting the h. The heroine is an independent woman who seems quite content holding down two part-time jobs to support her artistic pursuits.
A substantial part of the story harks back to earlier books in the series. For the limited number of pages, I would have preferred more time with the couple and less time with the characters who featured in their own, previous romances. And, I think I would have enjoyed this and The Billionaire’s Scare more if, in a short prologue for each novella, the bet and the members of the Club’s claim to wealth was explained.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
