The comedy in this book OH.MY.GOD is just fabulous. I was literally laughing while reading this book. ~Bed and Books I’m no Prince Charming, and the last thing I want is a Cinderella. My instructions were simple: scour the city for a fake fiancée who’s not my type at all. Have her on my jet Monday morning, dressed for a yacht vacation. I need a woman believable enough to convince a certain … enough to convince a certain client that I’ve changed my playboy ways…yet too annoying to tempt me—no emotional entanglements, thank you very much. This is business only.
If she’s unfazed by my looks and wealth, all the better. Should be easy. Right?
Apparently not, because my people go and hire Tabitha. My hairdresser.
What were they thinking? Yes, I said annoying, but I didn’t mean her, the most aggravating woman in the world.
Tabitha is sunshiny. She has a pet hamster. She loves Hello Kitty, and she gets under my skin like nobody else.
As if that’s not bad enough, the minute we step on deck, she thinks that certain people on the yacht are up to something shady—based completely on her soap opera knowledge. She won’t listen when I tell her she’s being ridiculous.
But as the days go by, I find that we’re actually having fun. And our fake kisses are heating up. And suddenly her wild theories aren’t sounding so strange after all…

I absolutely loved Tabitha and Rex….they couldn’t have been a more unlikely couple especially Tabitha with all her sparkly and bubbly personality and Rex with his intense growly attitude, but they both managed to steal my heart
Tabitha is Rex’s hairdresser and she suddenly finds herself as Rex’s fiancée for an account he’s trying to win with a well known woman. However, Tabitha is more hands on than Rex could’ve ever imagined and quite literally turns his life upside down….but in a good way
This is a must read story and has great characters…yes Tabitha is a bit annoying in the beginning but she grows on you super quick and you love her before you know it. I hope we have some more stories in this genre with Malcolm and a certain mail carrier, Noelle Thank you to Annika for my advanced copy which I voluntarily leave my honest review
Good gosh I love a grumpy hero and that combined with a mystery to solve is right up my alley! The banter had me laughing, the chemistry had me swooning and the mystery had me intrigued. I loved the side characters too and I’m hoping the next book is about another grumpy guy we are briefly introduced to in this book!
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
Rex and Tabitha have known each other for 2 years as his hairdresser. She irritates him but he loves that she is not intimidated by her. When he needs a fake fiancée for a cruise with a business deal his best friend hires her to be his fake fiancée.
Tabitha is a totally fun girl. She totally loves soap operas and she sees soap plots on the cruise and tries to convince Rex its true. Rex is a workaholic and very anti relationships but he really wants this client and he is the perfect straight man with Tabitha.
This was a adorable and fun romance. Its the perfect read if you love soap operas and you will fall hard for Tabitha.
Overall Review:
“Trusting a man with your heart is the fastest road to devastation.”
Man, oh man (or Woman, oh Woman!) did I need a read like Annika Martin’s The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee. When our minds are spinning from either boredom or news about our pandemic, we need a book that will allow our minds to rest, tickling our funny bones while challenging our ideas about people and the way they love. And Martin’s book? It does just that thing. You should know that Annika Martin is a must-read for me. Specifically, her rom-coms are the perfect combination of quirk, swoony yet temperamental heroes, and ball-busting heroines. I mean, this genre has this way of empowering women as the male characters seem the least enlightened, and that is refreshing as you read it. This book is no different.
Yes, Martin’s hero, Rex, is broodingly gorgeous, but he lacks an emotional maturity which undermines his ability to connect with people. Basically, the guy is in denial about how his actions affect others. Given that he is emotionally dense, Martin MUST craft a heroine who will turn him inside out, and she brilliantly creates Tabitha, her quirky, but emotionally insightful heroine. This woman is the ONLY woman who could “undo” Rex’s grumpy, spiteful, emotionally stunted hero.
To be very clear, I LOVE this couple. They are the perfect balance for each other. More importantly, these two are hiding in their lives. Rex conceals the pain of his past behind his overbearing work ethic, Yes, he’s a brilliant businessman, but his lifestyle is unsustainable in the long-term. Similarly (the other side of the “hiding” coin), Tabitha buries her hurts behind the mask of humor. The loveliness of this story is Rex and Tabitha’s abilities to recognize the truth in the other. My favorite parts of the book were all the ways that Rex noted how Tabitha used humor to lessen her problems and Tabitha’s ability to see the “real” Rex behind his grumpy bluster. I found myself highlighting these passages the most in the story because Martin shows us that, to love fully, we must push aside emotional walls to get at the heart of the person.
The humor of this story comes in the form of Rex and Tabitha’s banter. That Martin can craft compelling, fluid dialogue, while building their chemistry, illustrates her prowess at dialogue-building. This is whipsmart and entertaining. Even more, Tabitha is quite the character. As I mentioned before, she is a quirky ball-buster with the loves of Hello Kitty and soap operas. Martin integrates soap operas to both delight her reader, but offer up plot devices for her storytelling. This conspires to engage the reader in her story. Once I began The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee, let’s just say that I didn’t put it down because I needed the resolution and happy ending for Tabitha and Rex.
I hated for Annika Martin’s newest book, The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee, to end. Yes, her hero and heroine’s chemistry and storyline compel you through this book. More importantly, though, is the story’s ability to encourage us to let go of the past and seek out the people who will make us better people. This is the case for Rex and Tabitha. This book isn’t just about these two; Martin includes a cast of characters who will make you chuckle, sigh, and cry a little. But in the end, there is a guarantee that winds of change will have hit their course, and the future will be smooth sailing for Rex and Tabitha.
Amy Andrews is a relatively new author to me and I have to ask myself why that is. This is Della Munroe and Tucker Daniels’s story and was heart warming.
Having been rescued from an abusive marriage, Della is finally ready to step back in to the dating game, unfortunately for her, she is not doing a good job in picking her dates and that’s when Tucker decides to step in and keep her safe.
I love small town romance and Asking For Trouble certainly made for entertaining reading. It was wonderful to see Della finally come into her own and I loved how protective and caring Tucker was. The secondary characters were great and I am looking forward to reading their stories.
There was humour and fun with a whole lot of feel good moments. I really l admired Della, she has a strength and determination to grow and learn from her past and I really wanted her to get the happily ever after that she so deserved.
GASP and HEART EYES, I loved this story so much!
It was SO much fun and full of so much emotion…Rex and Tabitha stole my heart.
Tabitha is the most adorably quirky heroine. She’s a mobile hairdresser, she’s bubbly and happy, and always wanting to make people smile. Especially her favorite client. But wait until you meet him – she’s got lots of work to do to make that happen. I immediately fell for her because she’s relatable, lovable, and has a take-no-crap attitude.
And then there’s Rex…Mr. Grumpy McGrumperson billionaire workaholic. He demands Tabitha come to his office every Friday night for his weekly haircut, so it doesn’t interfere with his work schedule, never mind her plans.
These two together…
SIGH.
So much tension, so much chemistry… although he’d never admit it.
So opposite in every way.
So…perfect.
I love, love, love how she puts him in his place.
This well-written story was highly entertaining, especially with the soap opera mystery they had going on during their 2-week yacht trip. There were shenanigans galore, lots of flirting and witty banter, and sweetbabyjesusonacracker there was lots of growling. Like, make your toes curl kinda growling.
Yes, that’s right… Rex growls.
All.
The.
Time.
If you know me at all, then you know grumpy, growly heroes are my jam. They make me tingle right where it counts.
This story may be a delightfully entertaining RomCom, but it also had so much heart and passion. I can’t recommend it enough.
I clearly have been remiss in my education. I have not in all my years learned the valuable lessons taught in daytime television. Sigh. It is with great displeasure and considerable contrition that I realize I have let myself down. Stefano would obviously make me pay for my ignorance. So it is with great Sorrow face, that I respectfully request you bear with me while I go through the time consuming process of catching up. OR….
Let me giggle like a loon. I had a ridiculously fun time reading The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee. I may not be up to date on As the World Turns, but I have read a few dastardly plots in my time! These two are so cute with their opposites attract and their chemistry. I absolutely love their little wars. The quirky heroine is my spirit animal in any book. I may not be quite the sparkle fiend but I do appreciate a person’s need to shine.
Rex and Kitten have the ability to make everyone’s day filled with mirth, merriment, and a lot of hot growling. I need to say that it would be my pleasure to audition narrators for the audiobook because Rex needs to be brought to life!
Smart rom-com and cozy mystery on a yatch is a thing? Because this novel kicked it out of the park!
Phenomenal sense of humour and style, top-notch chemistry and engaging dialogues, two characters that consume the page, and a hilarious plot that keeps giving. I loved it all.
The king of growls and the queen of bubbly clash in the most delightful ways in this fake relationship romance. I loved the first chapters where they engage in their usual interaction, as she is his hairdresser once a week after his hellish business routine. He is a veritable ogre with the face of an angry angel and the roar of an imperial lion. Yet her response is always a witty remark and an impenetrable shield of gaity.
What I liked about Tabitha is that not only is she talented and good and sunny, but she is smart and resilient and observant. Actually, she is an amazing match for the obsessed man who is running solely on ambition.
Laughs were rolling out of me as I read about the tales spinned around their fake relationship or how utterly exasperated he got with her wild imagination. The passion department is well served with this chemistry that builds up until you squirm with heat.
The setting for the thick of the plot is fantastic, and it features perfect moments for them to know each other better but also to banter and go up in forbidden flames. I really enjoyed how she applies her hairstyling knowledge to her present situation and her social skills that contrast so much with his gruff and hotly frightening aloofness. And oh my, how she reacts to some bad surprises. I love her. Can we forgive his errors? I was having so much fun inside his head all bewildered at his own softening towards her allure.
It’s a long novel so there is real pace to develop a bond, know the quirks and hearbreaks of these characters, to have fun over their crazy scheming and delicious lovemaking. The mystery thickens, throwing them into funny acts. The real, deep triggers for Rex and Tabitha show up. And then things cannot go worse and my heart was clenching with horror.
It was the perfect explotion of emotional wreckage and plot twists and raw declarations of feelings. I couldn’t believe what was happening! All the plot lines converge in one sweeping, chaotic closure that’s pure love. I loved the ending. Totally awesome read.
4.5 Stars for The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancée
This is the first book I have read by Annika Martin and it certainly won’t be the last because after reading this entertaining romance I’m left wondering why this author hasn’t crossed my path before now and I will certainly be looking at her previous works as soon as time permits.
Rex needs a fiancée and I mean he needs her like yesterday !!! but he is shocked to find out its Tabitha his hairdresser that has been recruited by his team to play the role, to accompany him on a two week cruise playing the part of his adoring fiancée….
Tabitha has time on her hands as she is off work with an injury so what has she got to lose…..
Problem is the chemistry is not an act and when feelings come into play all bets are off!!!
This book ticked all my boxes, I laughed at the banter and I smiled at the antics these two got up to, the chemistry is sizzling and Rex and Tabitha are adorable so all in all a fun entertaining read.
ღ Rex O’Rourke has bad reputation as playboy, that he never sleeps with the same woman twice. Seem to have caught up with him! That reputation is now seeming to be affecting some major deal
So you guess by the title, this Billionaire is looking for Fake Fiancée to close deal of lifetime…
All Rex needs to do is to keep his hands off his Fake Fiancée for a two-week cruise on his potential client’s yacht… Seriously how hard can that be, when he asks his assistant to find the most annoying woman to him, so that he not tempted to sleep with her
Rex wants that account with every fiber of his being. Having all of Driscoll’s assets underhis management will give him more financial power than most governments, But in the end will he risk everything for woman that once annoyed the heck out him?
Tabitha Evans, she is completely different from any woman Rex has dated in the past
For god sakes, the woman has, multicolor streaks in her hair, she has an obsession with Hello Kitty. Should I dare name more?
I could say: I laugh out loud & this book was delight.
Annika delights you with her quirky characters & grouchy Billionaire’s & I can even say this was great read! Which is all totally true… but this book at times felt like scene out of tv soap opera…. So of course, you are going say WTF few times… but that doesn’t mean you aren’t going enjoy this read
The hair dresser. Is the lynchpin to rescuing our billion-dollar account?”
Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book
I loved The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancée. It is such a fun read. You will just love the banter between Tabitha and Rex. I really love Tabitha. She is brilliant and just has this way about her that draws you in. She is playful and will make you smile. Rex is a gruff workaholic. He is good at what he does but you can tell there is just that little something missing with him. I love how Tabitha turns his world upside down while playing his fake fiancée. You see such a different side of Rex while he and Tabitha are working together. You will laugh and have your haven’t you learned anything moments through out this one when it comes to Rex’s ways. I love the chemistry between Tabitha and Rex. They seem to be opposites but yet they mesh so well together. I loved every moment of this one.
I couldn’t love this book more if I tried! No, seriously, I completely loved every single moment while reading it, and I couldn’t put it down. I made new friends, I visited friends I made before, I got to see Smuckers a couple of times. I am happily grinning and my heart and soul are happy. Tabitha and Max were perfection, completely opposite in every way, even what they kept hidden from others. But they were completely in tune with the other, and they saw past the façade placed for the world to see. I loved them; I loved them while they annoyed each other; I loved them when they unwittingly hurt the other; I loved them when they tried to make it up to the other. I loved how they loved each other and the rightness that was their relationship
(3.6 stars)
Rex O’Rouke needs a fake fiancé and STAT!! He has to show a new potential client he has changed his playboy ways. Who could he pick that he would never be interested in personally? Maybe Tabitha Evans, his hairdresser, can fit that role. What could possibly go wrong? This sassy, soap opera loving gal might just show this playboy how to relax and live a little. Can they convince everyone that this is real without believing it themselves? This is a sweet and cute romantic comedy with a little mystery that might have you rolling your eyes, giggling and saying oh geez. The lead h was a little to campy in spots for me but if you love an easy, silly romance than you will love it. Told in dual POV
