What an exciting book! It’s easy to read and I found myself not wanting to put it down, which resulted in me finishing the book by bedtime the day I started the book. The author’s use of words creates an almost movie like image as you read through. I can hear the sounds of horses and pots and pans among other things, I can feel the iciness of snow and taste the food that is described. It is refreshing to read a romance novel that doesn’t rely on the sexual side of things, but instead the things people actually find attractive and ultimately fall in love with. I look forward to reading more books by Theresa Oliver!
This was a nice quick historical romance. I loved the main characters. My only real complaint was how short it was even though it was very well written.
I love the Whiskey River series. Such well written stories, they can be read alone but flow so much better when read in order, the characters grow and develop more each story and you become very invested. This is a one click series for me.
Fast and clean
The characters were likeable, the plot wasn’t bad but would have been even better if the book length was a little longer to flesh it out more – to give Millie and Charles more time to interact and to draw the dramatic climax out a bit longer. Overall a cute story that would be perfect for a lazy afternoon or adult bedtime story.
Short sweet read about a man and woman meeting in a snowstorm. They spend their time getting to know each other but not revealing to much. I enjoyed meeting them.
First, even though this is book 6 it was a standalone book and I was not lost in the story line. This was a sweet short read. The story flowed and the characters were believable. The fact that both of them were hiding parts of themselves form the other made just the right amount of tension within the story.
The fact that Charles jumps to the wrong conclusion is just what you expected from him. One thing that surprised me was the fact Millie did not see how much she was loved by the town’s people in Whisky River until later.
If you are looking for a short sweet, clean read this is a great book.
Millie and Charles’ story is very sweet with a little danger thrown in. The town of Whiskey River seems to be the place to go for love. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series.
The Billionaire’s Bride
This was a quick read with good characters and an interesting tale
Well I really enjoyed Charles story but definitely wish it was longer. Millie whiskey Rivers long time waitress is tired of being known as the towns flirt she wants more from life and it’s time she finds out if there’s someone out there for her. Charles is a billionaire but he’s fed up with his family trying to fix him up so he leaves to see his friends in whiskey River. A snow storm stops them both. What a sweet love story.
Another lovely romance in the Whiskey River series. Millie, a waitress in Whiskey River’s only restaurant, packs up to leave for “something more”. Charles (who I loved in The Banker’s Bride) , a billionaire decides to escape from his “world of money”. Millie and Charles paths cross, she being a damsel in distress and he the knight in shining armor. A sweet, clean read that transports the reader back in time. I hope we get to read more about Charles and Millie.
After reading the last book in the series, I was expecting some action and adventure and I was a little disappointed. It was a very quick sweet read but I felt that the middle of the book was left out. It did, however, have me wanting to go back and read the first books in the series. Although this book can be read as a standalone book, there was a lot of reference to the books before. This is still a good quick little read if you are looking for something easy to read between other reads.
I won’t lie, I was a bit disappointed that when Charles finally got a book it was a novella.
After reading the Banker’s Bride (Dallas’ story) and getting to see a bit of Charles in it and his love of the anonymity that Whiskey River offers him, I guess I wanted more from his book.
He does seem to find a woman who may “love” (and I use this term loosely because this was such a short novella that I didn’t get to actually read how the feelings developed between these two) him for who he is as a man and not for his money and what he can offer her. But it might have been nice to see an epilogue and see how Millie deals with Charles and his money and I’m sure his family which is bound to cause problems for them since she’s not a status carrying woman.
A young woman has lived her whole life in one town , doing the same job year after year. She is considered a flirt even though it’s not true but all she wants is life where she isn’t thought of that way. A young man meets people who want him for what he has and he’s tired of it. A thought to get away from it, has him boarding a train for Whiskey River. Theresa Oliver’s Whiskey River Series is amazing, and I have loved every one of them. They are 100% worth the time to read them. Being whisked to another place and time, to meet new and amazing people, and see those people go thru so much to find that special someone.
A quick sweet read. I loved Millie’s kindness, her strength, and willingness to uproot herself. Charles was very gallant, protective, and restrained. When omissions come out, their attraction made it easier to actually listen to reason. I would have preferred a bit more to this story, but I did enjoy the story as it was.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
