I will say that I went out on a limb reading the book. It’s not my usual type of book and I went in knowing it was steamy. Now for my honest review. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the “f” boom used in every other sentence. It was used in places it didn’t need to be. I also have come to the conclusion that the word is an okay word to use in today’s society whenever such as work place, schools, and everywhere. I’m old fashion so it’s not a word I wish to hear all the time. Yes, I’m old only ,61, but my generation doesn’t use the word. Saying that, I really enjoyed the story and characters of the book. The author did a great job describing each of the characters and the ending took me by surprise. I loved the main character, Remi Stone, who was such a klutz, a brainiac and wanted to get into the affairs of men of which she never had time for. I can picture her perfectly being so smart, graduating at a very early age and getting promoted to an unbelievable position and working with, as says she says, a number 10 CEO. The way the author described the number 10, Gabriel Icor, who wouldn’t want to be with him. So for me, I really enjoyed the concept and story line but could do without all the sex and “f” bombs. I can pass by the sex parts but the “f” bomb was used so much I couldn’t avoid it. I will definitely read more books by the author knowing what I am getting into.
Going into this book, I was a little skeptical. I’m not sure why maybe because I’ve never read this author. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Gabe is a hard-working CEO that he is trying to keep afloat after his father abused the system. Gabe would like to update the company’s technology, but the founders on the board refuse to upgrade. Remi is a walking genius. She graduated from college at 19 and had her masters by 22. She is a computer with legs. She’s also a colossal mess. She stumbles upon Gabe on a Sunday morning, thinking she is late for an interview. She overslept, been mauled by a slobbery canine, ripped her panty-hose, because of her demon cat, and arrived a day early with mismatching shoes. This was an excellent “Cinderella” type story, except Cinderella is a genius and has a job. The romance in this story is sweet. I love how Gabe and Remi bantered from the beginning. The chaos in this story had me laughing out loud and snickering multiple times. The only issue is that I never knew who exactly was talking. There would be a phrase at the beginning of each chapter, and it would take some time to figure who was narrating. I had to backtrack a few times, thinking it was initially someone else. The supporting characters were just as funny and endearing. If the correct speaker could be clarified, this would be a knockout book!
