His long and winding road has brought him to a legendary western ranch—to the brothers he calls friends . . . and a woman who could change his roving ways . . . Turning his back on his American father’s business empire was the smartest decision Rio Martinez ever made. Now, after a high-flying career on the rodeo circuit, the world champion bull rider is ready for a change of pace. A summer … pace. A summer hiatus working the Morgan brothers’ California ranch turns into the hope of forever when Rio meets a beautiful French baker who makes him realize what’s missing from his restless life.
After her husband abandoned her, Yvonne Payet threw herself into running the café that was her dream. In the welcoming community of Morgantown, she found a place to call home. She cherishes her hard-won independence, and doesn’t need another handsome heartbreaker calling the shots. But Rio isn’t just the sexiest, most arrogant cowboy she ever met—he’s got great ideas for expanding her business. With a reality TV show on the horizon and her ex demanding a second chance, Yvonne has to decide which sunset she wants to ride off into . . .
Praise for The Reluctant Cowboy
“Pearce sets up solid main-character arcs and creates good chemistry in a realistic western. While Pearce’s descriptions of the ranch will inspire dreams of visiting one, the family secrets are alluring enough to make readers eager for the next book.”

Wonderful story, and easy to “believe”. Great story and characters that are easy to care about.
I really enjoy the Morgan Ranch series. The Morgan’s do make appearances, but this book focused on Rio and Yvonne.
There were a few twists and turns with both Yvonne and her ex husband, and Rio and his father.
The interesting thing about this book was that Rio and Yvonne had great chemistry but were determined to be only friends, based on past issues in their lives. Instead of the romance developing smoothly, it seemed more like one step forward, two steps back.
I did enjoy the brief appearances of the Morgans, and the sense of family and friendship they bring to the story. Don’t get me wrong, these books are not all sweetness and light or smooth untroubled romances. But, you can count on people working through their issues with all of the love, support, and friendship that many people could ask for from from family or friends.
The Billionaire Bull Rider does have a bit of angst, but has a couple of great scenes that feature Rio and Paul. It is a pretty quick and easy read with an epilogue. I love an epilogue in a book. I would recommend this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel The Billionaire Bull Rider: Morgan Ranch book 1 by Kate Pearce and this review is given freely.
A complex and at times intense romance running the gamut of emotions. HW and Ry’s bull riding friend Rio takes a preseason break from the PBR to teach bull riding on Morgan Ranch but his attraction to bakery and cafe’ owner Yvonne and a twist of fate thrown in by both his estranged father and her uncompleted divorce have both Rio and Yvonne questioning their futures.
Good book. Enjoyable read. Had fun characters. Addressed some real life experiences for single girls today.
Yvonne Payet doesn’t see herself as a fixer-upper and her failed marriage didn’t leave her wanting another. Her best friend has a man in mind for Yvonne but fate has something entirely different in mind. Enter one smoking hot, witty and sensitive, thoughtful and very successful world champion bull rider, Rio Martinez. Rio has his eye on Yvonne and he has no intention with accepting ‘no’ for an answer.
This was my first read from the author. I found it to be highly entertaining. Rio is so likeable, lovable even that I was on his side, if there are sides, from the very beginning. There are several important secondary characters, The ranch family, Yvonne’s ex-husband and Rio’s family, estranged parents and step-sister are well-developed and integral to the multiple conflicts. Book 5 in the Morgan Ranch series, has a plot like a braid with interwoven storylines. There is the central romance, the relationship of Yvonne and her ex-husband, Rio’s relationship with his parents and more. Family is an important theme in this series with changing family roles and relationships for Rio and Yvonne as well.
Yvonne is a hard-working woman, driven to succeed and independent. She isn’t really interested in a relationship, not really, but Rio proves to be somewhat irresistible and he squirms his way into her life.
The writing style, pacing and witty interchanges coupled with romance and intimacy provide the reader with a put-your-feet up and get lost in the story experience. I think I’ll start reading this series from the beginning.
Sensual intensity 4, Reader Adventure 4.5
