3.5 stars. This ended up being a pretty good book, although I felt it started off a little rough. The Billionaire Boss Next Door is the first book in a new billionaires series with a new group of friends (Move over Billionaire Bad Boys gang). This book is Greer and Trent’s book. Greer lives in New Orleans and has a struggling interior design company. After a few bad years, her business is on the verge of bankruptcy and she is close to losing her home. Her last ditch effort to save her business is that she has been hired to decorate a new hotel in town. The only problem is that she got off on the wrong foot with her new boss, Trent, the hotel owner’s son, before she even knew who he was. Now Greer and Trent hate each other. They are stuck dealing with each other, working very closely and living next door to each other. As they spend time together, though, they can see they have misjudged each other. Enemies turn to friends and then to lovers.
Since this book is a rom-com, humor is expected, however, much of the humor in the book is cheesy, corny, and trying too hard to be funny. But I got used to the slapstickness of it after awhile, and even if I didn’t love that aspect, I tolerated it. The first half of the book was slow moving and took me a long time to get into. I wasn’t sure how I felt about either Trent or Greer when they were so hateful towards each other. I didn’t see why I should like them until they started liking each other and I could see the good in them. Once they got together, the book become much more enjoyable.
I like Trent for the most part. It took me quite a while to grow to like Greer’s character. She comes off as abrasive, grumpy, overly sarcastic, and rude, when I think she is supposed to be quirky, honest and funny. She is rude to everyone, including her best friend. I didn’t like her for the first half of the book, but she does soften towards the middle of the book once she and Trent become a couple, and I began to like her character more. I didn’t really understand why they hated each other so much after they met. They exchanged a few words of prickly banter, but it was blown out of proportion into this huge reason to hate each other that I did not get. and it made the conflict kind of pointless.
Once Trent and Greer realize they like each other, I really enjoyed the book. I felt the love between the couple. Trent, especially, really adored Greer for her “quirky” personality. I was hoping there was not going to be more angst thrown in. But there is one last conflict, due to eavesdropping and a misunderstanding that leads to a plot device that I am not a fan of. The ending also felt very rushed.
Still, this series will probably be pretty good. It may just take awhile to get used to after we’ve been used to the OG Billionaire Bad Boys gang. The new friend group from this series was interesting. I liked Emory and Quincey. Caplin/Cap is the new Thatch copycat character. Not as funny and cute as the original. He’s very much a manwhore who can’t remember his conquests names from day to day and probably has STDs. So I’m not terribly excited about his future book. But I am still looking forward to more from the series.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. If you start reading this book and you are unsure, hang in there and try to finish it because it gets better as you go along. The story was fun, entertaining and interesting. I enjoyed Trent and Greer’s relationship development. I look forward to more from Max Monroe in the future!
Max Monroe really knows how to write characters, flaws and all. They don’t have to be helpless, perfect, rich, I could go on. There isn’t always the dreamy Lifetime movie romantic conversations. Their characters are down to earth, someone you may know or may be you. I love that their characters are like this. I love that they come to life so much that other characters of theirs **cough cough** Thatch, have to find a way into their books (my husband even knows who Thatch is and my unhealthy obsession with him).
The Billionaire Boss Next Door is yet another rom-com that you could see play out in real life. Plenty of sarcasm, laughter, and romance. That’s the recipe for a Max Monroe book. Trent and Greer are great characters. Bonus in this book is that it’s written, not only from Trent and Greer’s point of view but from some of their friends too. Great writing again Max Monroe.
NO SPOILERS!
The Billionaire Boss Next Door was romantic comedy PERFECTION! Max and Monroe excel at delivering sexy, hilarious, swoon-worthy, and entertaining romantic comedies, and The Billionaire Boss Next Door was another phenomenal MUST READ from this incredibly talented author duo!
The storyline was everything I wanted and more. Max and Monroe are brilliant storytellers, and romantic comedy is definitely their jam. The Billionaire Boss Next Door encompassed multiple tropes: enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, office romance, and so much more, and I loved every second of it. The plot was full of fun, sexy, laugh-out-load moments, and there wasn’t one second where I didn’t have a smile on my face. I was highly entertained from beginning to end, and thoroughly enjoyed every single word of Trent and Greer’s story. The ending was absolutely perfect, and more than I ever could’ve hoped for.
The characters, good Lord, the characters. They were EVERYTHING! Trent, Greer, and all of their hilarious and immensely entertaining friends, were my favorite part of the entire book. Trent and Greer have been two of my top favorite characters from Max Monroe so far, and I adored their personalities. I felt an immediate connection with them, and couldn’t get enough. Trent and Greer, namely Greer, were pieces of work and I loved them with all of my heart. They were so amazing, both separate and together, and I loved how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Trent and Greer’s point of view, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Trent and Greer’s love story was an absolute must read, and I won’t forget it any time soon.
The Billionaire Boss Next Door was a fun, sexy, swoon-worthy, addicting, laugh-out-loud standalone romantic comedy, and I would HIGHLY recommend it and all of Max Monroe’s other books! Max and Monroe created pure romantic comedy gold with The Billionaire Boss Next Door, and Trent and Greer’s love story was an epic MUST READ that you don’t want to miss! I am so freaking excited to read more standalone romcoms in the Billionaire Collection from Max Monroe this year!
*An advance reading copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*
You definitely cannot call the first meeting between Greer and Trent, our heroine and hero, a romcom fantastic “meet cute”. Not even close… But then again, they met in a hotel gym. Greer was in New York to have the interior design job interview of her life for a new hotel that was opening in her hometown of New Orleans. Trent was a stranger to Greer, just wanting to work out in the same hotel gym. What Greer didn’t know was that Trent was not only the son of the hotel’s owner, but the project manager on the New Orleans Project. Can we saw “open mouth insert foot”?
This is so not love at first sight. It’s more like let’s antagonize each other for sport, but in a fun, flirty way, if you really think about it. Trent has a lot to prove to his father and this is the project where he can make his mark. First, he has to figure out how to work with Greer, who he sees as a thorn in his side. On day one of the project, Greer and Trent realize that they not only have to work together day in/day out, but they actually live right next door to each other on the same floor of the same building.
“I am a people person who kind of hates people.” Greer is definitely my spirit animal!
The banter between these two kills me, in a good way. And this helps them to start to see each other as people and not enemies. I think they’re my new favorites in the world of Max Monroe. #SorryNotSorryThatch…
*4-4,5 stars*
It was my first read from this author and I already know I will definitely read more books in the future. I really enjoyed the banter between Trent and Greer, the two main characters, and how the story evolved. A fun yet sexy read that will have you laughing so many times. I thought Greer was just hilarious and I think she could really be one of those friends you need in your life ‘cuz who doesn’t want a good friend that also can make you laugh 🙂 The only thing that I didn’t really love was the third person POV but that’s just something personal; it didn’t take away anything from the story though so it worked out in a way. Just a little small side note. I would definitely recommend this book and if you haven’t read this author yet, this book is a great start!
Greer’s interior design business is going downhill and the last hope she has is to get the job to design the new Vanderturn Hotel in New Orleans. Although she gets hired, nothing goes as planned. She doesn’t get along with the boss’s son Trent who is in charge of the project and it’s doing more harm than good but she needs this job to hold her business above water and tries to do the best she can to get through it all. But the more Greer and Trent spend time together, the more their attraction to one another seems to grow. Even though Trent doesn’t want to have anything to do with his new interior designer and makes it well known, there’s this underlining chemistry they have that will become undeniable. But will both cross the line that may interfere with everything they are working for?…. Who knows they may find the piece they didn’t know was missing?…
This story brought a lot more than just love to the table. Within this book you get heartbreak, a few laughs, heat and we get to see some of our favorite characters from previous books if you’ve read any of the other books in this series.
I have to say I found Jameson very charming and funny. I have to admit at first Olivia got on my nerves but as I learned about her life I came to feel sympathetic for her. I don’t do spoilers I feel its not fair to the author. You can get preliminary information from blurb or better yet read the book. What I will say is the story will tear at your heart. It does have its comical moments too.
It’s an easy read. I read it in one sitting. So take some time and enjoy this tender story. This is my first book by this author and I can tell you I will be reading more of her work. the dedication and the introduction of this book you know you are in for a jolly good time. The authors have done it once again. If you’re expecting a docile heroine then you’re reading the wrong book. Greer is a woman not to be messed with. She’s spit and fire all rolled into one, but talented right to the bone. Trent is her equal match in most every way…with the exception that he’s a billionaire and her boss…minor details. Can they work together without killing each other, can they keep from jumping each other? The big question is can they find a common element or will there be an explosion between these two? Well to find out you have to read the book. If I tell you where’s the fun in that? You need to read the book.
What I can tell you is that you won’t be disappointed. In humor we find a lot of truth. Even though this book will keep you laughing you realize everyone has a story. These stories make us who we are, shape us into who we become. It doesn’t matter what status in life we’re at. Sometimes we’re so busy forming our preconceived ideas about others we don’t take the time to actually get to know the facts. Add to the fact that people often wear masks to hide behind their true personality to fit in or be who they think people want them to be. It’s really hard to get to know the true personality of someone.
Another great aspect of this book are the secondary characters we get to know and hopefully will get to see again in their own books. Heck, maybe we’ll get to see some of our original favorite characters.
In a nutshell, what I’m saying is I really enjoyed this book. It isn’t sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. It’s, “omg, I can’t believe it”, from the get go. I read this straight through in one sitting. Why, you ask? I couldn’t put it down. To the authors I say, well done and I’m already waiting for the next book. Please hurry
I just love a good rom com. Max Monroe definitely kills it in that department. Their writing is so on point and I love the banter. I’m seriously entertained throughout the whole story. Greer had the best moments in the story. That woman is such a smartass and her filter is kinda hot or miss. Trent has his hands full with her. I really liked all the characters and I can’t wait to see who’s next!
I can’t even tell you all how much these two authors soothe my soul… they make me laugh so hard with their outrageous antics! I seriously adore them for it. I think we can all relate to both these main characters… we have Greer who is trying so hard to save her failing interior design company. Then we have Trent who is trying to prove himself capable of the hotel empire to his father so he’ll be willing to pass on the baton some day. They meet in the gym and they are hilarious, like… I might have laughed so hard my eye makeup smudged (darn you Max and Monroe!). However funny I found their gym antics, it has led them to dislike each other immensely…. or do they? Because just hours later they are in each other arms with their lips upon each other and face masks hiding their identity. Now you have to know, just as I do… that this is just the start of a serious blunderful (not a typo) book!
So obviously Greer is working for Trent and designing his hotel. Not only that, but of course these two have to live across from each other. I mean, we can’t let these two get away from each other! So here we have two people with seriously strong personalities. They are fighting this fierce attraction that they mask with dislike. Who else is singing Janet Jackson’s Opposites Attract right now? That is perfectly what these two have going on. Add that to the fact that they cannot escape each other!
Now, I’ll be honest here and say the storyline was a bit over the top and I seriously rolled my eyes. However, I read for pure enjoyment not for the truthfulness of the story. So cheesy it is, fun is seriously is, as well as a bit over the top and extreme but it was a fun, light read that kept me entertained all through the story with some really great characters!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
This book was hilariously good! Greer and Trent are like oil and water or fireworks and matches. I absolutely loved their bickering and chemistry! Trent will never replace Thatch in my opinion but he came damn close. I love the comedy which had me laughing out loud a lot. This was also very sexy. Max Monroe definitely knows how to make things hot! I had so much fun with this book! If you get this, you will too!
While reading Billionaire Boss Next Door I experienced blast from the past and I remembered why I love Max Monroe’s writing so much. Fantastic plot, amazing characters and such layers of humor, that I was cracking up all the time! This writing duo has once again created a story that’s funny and heartwarming and just reading it improves the mood. Queens of rom-coms- that’s what Max Monroe is!
Sassy interior designer who’s in the financial hole and desperately needs a new contract. Stuck-up millionaire and heir to the hotel empire, who’s trying to get his father’s approval. And one unfortunate encounter that makes them enemies. But for how long, when you can slice the sexual tension with a knife?
Dear Lord… I still can’t catch my breath, the story made me laugh so much. Greer is a hilarious heroine who raises the level of awkwardness to a whole new height, but nevertheless remains adorable. And Trent is such a sexy and hot guy that I’m able to forgive his grumpiness. They are both hot-headed and this led to their bickering. And I really have no idea how they fought their battles with the straight faces, because I was snorting and laughing my ass off during their hilarious banters. But when the sparks start to fly- holy hotness! This book is another proof that the opposites attract and you can find the perfect balance in the differences between two people.
In addition to a fabulous plot and amazing main heroes, the authors gave us great secondary characters who perfectly integrated in this story and I hope that we will find out more about them (Cap is probably Thatch’s brother from another mother, seriously!). I can’t wait for more books in this new series!
this book is the perfect cure for a bad mood, long day, or basically any time you’re in need of a smile!
4 The First Kiss that’s the Last First Kiss Stars!!!
This is another winner by the writing due Max Monroe. I’m a huge fan of their rom-coms and this one is no different. Greer is my type of heroine, strong, independent, has conversations with herself where she answers her own questions and doesn’t hold much back which provides for several hilarious moments…a gym workout comes to mind!
Trent is of course a perfect MM hero in that he’s handsome, sexy, alpha and knows what he wants out of life which plays a key factor in this book. And when these two first meet, there’s skyrocketing chemistry…except they don’t know who each other is and when they find out, things are already put in motion so there’s no way to avoid each other since Greer now works for Trent and thinks he’s a pompous you know what!!
This book takes place in NYC and New Orleans where Greer is decorating the newest hotel in Trent’s father’s company and to say these two butt heads is putting it mildly! You know what they say when there’s this much emotion between two people…the sex will be off the charts HOT and it proves true with our H/h! I had to stop and fan myself a few times that’s for sure!!
This book is chock full of humor, heart, a little angst and friendships that are tried and true for both Trent and Greer seeing as how they’re besties are a couple so they see each other not only on a daily basis with work but in their free time too. The secondary characters, Emory, Quince and Cap are fabulous and I know there’s more books coming with all of them and I can’t wait.
Once I started this book I found it hard to put down, so I kept stealing glances while at work because I had to see what happened between these two…I love that Greer didn’t back down from stating her opinions when it comes to Trent, his hotels and everything in between!! She’s the PERFECT woman for this man!! I’m a tried and true MM fan and this book is another example of why I always look forward to their newest books!!
The Billionaire Boss Next Door by Max Monroe is a fun, flirty rom/com with just a hint of seriousness. Hotel heir Trent Turner and Interior Designer Greer Hudson didn’t always see eye to eye. In fact, they pretty much got off on the wrong foot and hated each other to begin with.
But with the help of their conniving friends they end up neighbors as well as working closely together. They start to get to know one another and the inevitable happens.
This was a bit of a slow burner, allowing Greer and Trent to get to see each other in a different light.
Trent was a tough, hard-nosed boss until Greer showed him how to loosen up. A sweet, sexy fun story with a lovely ending. Looking forward to more in this series.
Max Monroe are an incredibly versatile pair of authors–they write all the feels… and I love them for the diversity and creativity that they bring to romance.
BUT. THIS.
This, rom-com, is where I met them originally (in the form of the Tapping series) and now we’re back. Home. Sweet. Home. This is a book with all the feels, the anticipation, the doubt and the courage to overcome that doubt. But it’s also a book that makes you laugh out loud.
Trent and Greer. Trent’s the serious part of the duo. He has a lot to live up to, his Dad’s success. He’s trying to find his way to replicate that, to respect and build on it. It’s a journey that we will take with Trent over the course of this book.
Greer is a fighter, a lover, and above all else, a funny-smart woman. I imagine she’s some combination of Max and Monroe given the sheer level of memes and inside jokes, she’s good at reciting–if you subscribe to the authors’ newsletter you’ll know what I mean, and if you don’t you should. She’s also perfect for Trent. She’s not interested in what he’ll inherit, or even him initially, and that means that she’s perfect for giving him exactly the help he needs. And along the way, we get a lot of funny, tender, sincere, and ultimately HOT.
If you’ve not read Max Monroe before, this is a great place to start, it’s perfect in their rom-com genre. You won’t be disappointed, and then from there the leap to Thatch, Kline, and Wes, as well as his team… well lucky you that there’s all that out there!
I absolutely love this book. Another great addition to this Author’s resume. It was the perfect combination of funny, snarky, and romantic all wrapped up into one. It follows the story of Greer and Trent and their love-hate relationship. If you’re looking for a fun read that will give you all the feels this is your book. Highly recommend it.
I have said it before, and I will say it again, “THE QUEENS OF ROM-COM HAVE DONE IT AGAIN !” This amazing talented duo, write the absolute best Rom-Coms known to man kind, and The Billionaire Boss Next Door is no different. The Billionaire Boss Next Door literally had me clutching my side from laughing so hard with tears rolling down my face. All the while, trying to hold my snorts in so I wouldn’t wake up my daughter from her nap. The witty banter, and the dialogue is one of a kind, and only something that these authors can accomplish. The analogies and the references were brilliant. The chemistry was kinetic and the story itself was very well developed. The main characters and secondary characters made this story. Each and everyone of them. The Billionaire Boss Next Door was a pee my pants worthy read!
Greer is a people person that hates people. She is always late to everything and the only thing she knows about food, is how to eat it. She is loud and proud, and spews whatever comes to her mind before thinking of the consequences. She is hilarious with a jokester vibe.
Trent is stubborn and set in his ways. Headstrong and very goal oriented. He is a workaholic with essentially no personal life, but has the love of building and designing hotels, like a mother has for her newborn.
* I recommend this book!
