I’ve never been a cute, petite little thing. And my stepsister Ella and her friends never let me forget it. In fact, growing up, I always felt like Cricket, the jolly, mean giant—not that I’m mean. More like I’m a scapegoat. Now, I have one month until I get the heck out of Dodge and escape my family, this city and all the people who’ve called me Beast all these years. I’m never coming back. Until … these years. I’m never coming back. Until then, I just need to avoid my parents, Ella and the gorgeous billionaire she has her eye on.
Not so hard. I know how to fly under the radar.
Except…he has no interest in my stepsister. No, his eye is on me. He calls me his princess. And there’s nothing I can do to escape my fate, especially when Ella discovers his interest. She’s determined to prove I’m Cricket the Beast again.
And maybe, I should let her, just so I can leave here before I get hurt. Because hot guys like him? They’re definitely not into beasts like me.

This is my first book by Brynn Paulin and I’m instantly hooked! It will not be my last!
This book was everything! Mix a litle beauty and the beast with Cinderella and you got yourself one heck of a insta love combo!
Cricket was amazing and I loved her! I always love it when a heroine can make me love them. I’m not always a fan of heroines but Cricket made my list of tops!
Brix oh Brix what a over the top obsessed man was he!! I absolutely loved him and how much he needed Cricket! This melted my kindle!!! 5 stars aren’t enough!

“I would never hurt you. Ever.”
“Good…I’ve had enough of that in my life.”
Cricket considers herself the ugly stepsister in her non-fairytale life. For as long as she can remember, her family has constantly diminished her confidence. Her goal is to take the college scholarship she’s fought so hard to obtain and get as far away from them as she can. Before she can leave, her father forces her to attend a function to network and obtain a job. Once again, Cricket finds herself being the wallflower to her stepsister Ella. But for all of Ella’s beauty, it was Cricket that stood out amongst the crowd and snagged the attention of Brix.
Brix has more money than he could ever spend, as well as his own family issues. Sent to an event by his grandfather to search out a bride, he’s mesmerized by the beauty in the corner. There is something that draws him immediately to her, and when he gazes into her eyes, his heart screams “she’s the one”.
Brix and Cricket instantly “clicked, like two puzzle pieces meant to connect”. But their love story isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. This fairytale has a villain set out to destroy any happiness Cricket obtains, and Brix will have to slay the proverbial dragon to protect what is his.
Ok, I’m totally obsessed with any and all stories with a Beauty & the Beast theme, and Brynn Paulin weaves a romance that has that and so much more! I could not put this book down, and immediately read it again! I loved it that much! Brix and Cricket have the most amazing happily ever after! Highly recommend! 5 Plus Stars!
This is a beautiful story about how true only sees the soul and the power of that love only seeing beauty in the body that houses it. Brix is a swoony, alpha male and Cricket is a strong woman who truly blossoms under the love Brix gives her. It’s a wonderful read!
This book was just what I needed—light, sweet, adorably cute, and a beautiful twist on my favorite fairy-tale.
TONGUE IN CHEEK WARNING – do not start reading this book on your lunch hour at work! I did and couldn’t put it down.
Once again, Brynn Paulin hits it out of the park with a hot and wonderful romance that is original and heart-warming.
Cricket and Brix’s story is terrific and their character’s are very well-rounded. Having their story unfold using their alternating points of view is a great way to get inside the main character’s heads, fathom their feelings, and feel their emotions and motivations. This seems to be a trademark of Ms. Paulin’s and it really works.
I’ve loved her military books but hadn’t read any pf her Billionaire ones before this. I think I’m going to have to remedy that really soon.
A great read.
I really enjoyed this book. I haven’t read books 1-3 in the series yet, but I’m gonna give ’em a go. I don’t believe you need to read them in order anyway.
-virgin h, celebate H
-dual POV
-possessive H
-insta-love
-physically scarred h
-no abuse
-no cheating
-OW drama (by the h’s nasty step-sister, who is not an ex of any sort of the H)
-great epilogues at around 5 years and 12 years
There’s some talk about h’s mom dying from cancer, which may be a trigger for some. I loved this story and can’t wait to read the others.
