Bearing his Name by Eve Langlais.. 4.5 stars Jade’s sister shows up pregnant and she doesn’t know who the father is. She only remembers him wearing a toga and there were several there that night wearing the same costume. She sends out notes to them all and one day Ark shows up. Ark is a bear shifter but one look at Jade and he knows she’s his mate. It will take a lot to convince her because she doesn’t believe in happily ever afters. Someone is after her sister and they try to hide her but they keep finding her until Jade is taken and will be traded for Ruby, her sister. Ark goes wild but gets her back and takes her to his home. Can the big bear convince her they are meant to be? Good story. Ark was a little dramatic and goofy acting. Jade see saws back and forth between wanting him and not believing they can make it. She pulls him in with one hand and pushes him away with another. Ark and Jade could be funny at times and the sex was hot. Told in third person with both pov. ————— OWNED BY THE LION by Milly Taiden…. 5 stars Ally opens a new office for her company. Keir works for a financial company and knows Ally is his mate right away. The thing he has to do is convince her because of his previous manwhore ways. It takes a lot of convincing but she has strong feelings for Keir but doesn’t want to be one of his one night stands. They both go to the matesforhire.com and are matched. Ally needs money for her mother’s chemo treatments for a trial experiment, that’s why she signed up to be a mate for two weeks. Can Keir convince her she’s the only one for him? Loved the story. Romantic, hot, funny, and a little sad. Ally is curvy and beautiful. Keir is hot and a lion shifter. Told in third person with both pov. ————— NO NEED FUR LOVE by Kate Baxter.. 5 stars
Mia is a wood nymph and her father has given her an ultimatum….in order to be a member of the ruling nymphs… produce an heir or he’ll find a mate for her. So she goes out to a bar looking for a man to have sex with. She never expected Owen, a werewolf shifter. Owen is down because his Alpha found his mate but doesn’t think he will until Mia sits down beside him. He and his wolf knows she’s their mate but she only wants a one night stand hoping to get pregnant. When she tells her father she’s with an heir, he tells her she’ll never help rule the nymphs. He found out there are werewolves in the area, he wants them run out. He plans to attack on the full moon and Mia must decide if she helps her mate or her father.
Good story. A feisty wood nymph and a sexy as sin werewolf. Short but very hot. Told in third person with both pov.
* Releases May 15, 2018 * * Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
The Big Alpha in Town is an anthology with three paranormal romance stories. The authors wrote about different shifters in each of their stories. While this is a stand-alone book, I believe reading the previous books would make this an even better experience. Overall, this was an interesting and enjoyable way to pass some free time. If you like paranormal romance, some action, antics, humor, craziness, and HEA endings then this is the book for you.
I would like to thank St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for the copy of this book. This review was completely voluntary and strictly my own opinion.
I enjoyed the last book by these three wonderful authors so much I was excited to read this one. And I wasn’t disappointed.
Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais
This story is a bit tricky.. Ark has a lot of explaining to do before he can even make any headway with his mate Jade..Can he do it?
Read and find out….
Owned By The Lion by Milly Taiden
This one is a riot.. Keir has always been a male who did what he wanted, with whom he wanted, how he wanted. He has always known who he wanted but Ally is so much more than just his best friends lil sister. Can he win her heart? Will she make his lion stand up and roar?
Grab this book and find out.
No Need For Love by Kate Baxter
I love this authors writing and this book just sealed it even more for me. We get sexy but also funny.
As a werewolf living in Idaho Owen knows his chances of finding his mate are slim to none. So he sets his mind on getting drunk if possible.
In walks her…. His true mate…. But will she be?
Mia has a plan and doesn’t involve finding love but she needs to do the deed to uphand her father. Will Owen be the man to handle it?
Awesome read.
Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais is the first book in the anthology. Ark is trying to find a woman who is pregnant with his child. Then he finds out that there are six of his cousins who might be the father of this child. The search is really on now. He finds out that Ruby is the female who sent the post card announcing the baby so he goes looking for her. Hey, this is great because Ruby is his mate. But she’s not pregnant. This is so much fun with a little bit of drama thrown in. I loved it!
Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden is the next book. Abby is going nuts over That man. The One Who Shall Not Be Named. The one she considers a manwhore. But he’s so hot! Keir has a lot going on in his life right now but he knows that he wants Abby. Now how to get it through her head that she could be the one? This was a great book. There’s a lot happening but it’s all going to come together in the end. I have to say that Milly Taiden writes a really entertaining book and I love to read them.
No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter is the last book. Owen is at a bar feeling sorry for himself because he’s lonely and wanting what his Alpha has found in his wife. Not that he’s looking for a wife but he wants that feeling. Then Mia walks up to him at the bar. She’s looking for a baby maker so that she will be able to live her life on her terms and not her father’s. Things happen fast and furious in the bar and later in their lives. But it’s written so good that you have to finish it before you put it down. You are going to enjoy finding out what happens in the end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced copy of the book. All thought and opinions are my own.
I loved these novellas. There are 3 novellas in this book. These are also the second set of these 3 novellas. You don’t have to read the first book to read this one but I highly suggest you do. All 3 of these books are hot!!I believe I love supernatural books because I wish in the real world that there is a guy out there that would love me like these men love their mates. All 3 of these novellas are fun, sexy and quick reads!!
*Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this for my honest opinion*
*Received ARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review**
This book is a compilation of three stories by Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden and Kate Baxter. This was a fun, fast read. I will read anything by Eve Langlais, as I know that when I pick up one of her books there will be over the top silliness/craziness. And this book is no exception, and not to leave out the hot and steaminess!
Bearing his Name by Eve Langlais
Ark is a werebear. When he gets a note in the mail saying he’s a dad, he’s stumped and is bound to get to the bottom of whatever is going on. What he wasn’t expecting was to meet his mate, Jade. There’s only one small problem, his mate happens to be the sister of the girl he supposedly impregnated. I enjoyed the characters, and the chemistry. It was a fun, fast enjoyable read. The only thing that I didn’t like was the sisters tie in with her ex-bf. Don’t want to say anymore or I would be giving away major spoilers. Overall, was a fun read.
Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden
Keir is a lion. And a lion that likes to leave his options available. Not into relationships, just likes to constantly be around beautiful women. Little does he know that his lifestyle will come back to bite him in the backside. So when he meets his mate, she doesn’t fall at his feet like most women. He has to work at getting her to go out with him. And what’s worse are all the women that he knows that aren’t ready to let him go. Not only that, but Ally is his best friends sister. Another fun, fast read. I really enjoyed the characters and their chemistry. What I had an issue with was, Keir is supposed to be really close with his best friend and the mother, yet he never knew there was another sister? Other than that, I really enjoyed the book.
No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter
Owen isn’t expecting to find his mate. He’s at the bar when Mia walks into the bar he’s at and he overhears her talking about needing to get pregnant and he’s intrigued. This book fell a little flat for me. It felt rushed, and incomplete to me. I really struggled to get through this book.
Overall I did enjoy the book, and I look forward to hopefully reading some of the secondary characters stories. Hope this helps. Happy Reading!!!
The Big Alpha in Town by Eve Langlais; Milly Taiden; Kate Baxter.
This is a book with three different stories by three different authors. They are a standalone set but if by chance you read the other box set called “Thanks Fur Last Night”, you will see some stories related to the couples and secondary characters you met in that book. I enjoyed that box set and this one was just as great!
Here are the books that you will get in this box set;
Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais

I picked The Big Alpha in Town to read because Eve Langlais is one of my favorite paranormal authors. I loved Bearing His Name. Ark is a total alpha. They way he meets
Jade is definitely different and unique. Ark has found his mate and nothing is going to keep him from her.
Owned by the Lion is by Milly Taiden. This one was my favorite. Keir has a reputation of being a manwhore. Ally is his mate but she wants nothing do with him. It was a little funny when he was trying to prove he was worth it her but he’s exes keep popping up.
No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter closed out the book. This one was also a great read.
The Big Alpha in Town
Three paranormal shifter romances in one volume
BEARING HIS NAME: Eve Langlais
Receiving a baby announcement sets Ark and others on the prowl to find out whether or not they are the baby-daddy of Ruby’s unborn child. More slapstick and comedic than deep but Ruby does find the daddy and Ark finds his mate.
OWNED BY THE LION: MILLY Taiden
Part of a series with shifters finding their mates in this one Ally and Keir find out that their relationship is more than just business.
NO NEED FOR LOVE: Kate Baxter
I think this was my favorite of the three stories…Mia, a nymph, has need of man so sets out to find one not realizing that Owen, a werewolf, might be more than just a guy to scratch an itch. This story sizzles in more ways than one and provides a bit more depth than the other two stories.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
The Big Alpha In Town is three great stories that fulfill all reader’s shifter needs. All three stories are sexy with lots of heated passion and sizzling chemistry with just the right amount of suspense and humor added to spice things up.
In Bearing His Name – Jade and Ark have a major complication to overcome in their search for happily ever after which means the story is one hot bed of snark, electrifying chemistry and thrilling anticipation. As usual, Eve Langlais combines quick witted dialogue and sexy shifters to make every reader chuckle and pant after her wonderfully fun characters.
In Owned by the Lion – Kier has to pull out all the stops in order to win Ally’s heart which has the reader humming with anticipation with every page while easily falling for these strong, delightful characters especially since Milly Taiden knows how to bring her worlds and characters to vibrant life.
In No Need Fur Love – Owen and Mia find that red hot lust sometimes has unexpected consequences and that their happily ever after can only be accomplished if they divert a war. Lots of excitement and romance keeps reader glues to the pages of Kate Baxter’s fascinating world full of vivid characters that capture the imagination.
I just had to finish each of these stories in this Beast Sized Anthology, all three were captivating, thrilling and full of sexy shifters and the stories can be read one at a time during breaks or all at once for an enjoyable marathon read. I can’t wait to read the next anthology by these wonderful authors.
“The Big Alpha in Town” is an anthology written by three awesome authors: Eve Langlais, Milly Taider and Kate Baxter. All three novellas are sexy and funny and in every one there is some fight: for love, for acceptance and for happily ever after.
First one, “Bearing His Name”, is a comedy by Eve Langlais, telling us story of Ark (a bear shifter) and Jade, who is a Very Concerned Sister and in order to help her pregnant sis Ruby, she does something certainly not conventional during her search for baby’s father. That’s leading to a string of mysterious and funny events that may (or may not?) guarantee a HEA for our heroes. Anyway you will absolutely enjoy it!
Second one, “Owned By the Lion” is a story from Milly Taiden in which Keir, an alpha lion, has to prove to his fated human mate Ally, that he is not a womanizer who sleeps around, but a man who will be faithful and a man who will make her purr. And let me assure you, that Milly Taiden yet again make a funny & smokin’ hot story that you won’t stop reading until the end!
The lat one is Kate Baxter’s “No Need Fur Love”. The main character werewolf Owen didn’t come to the bar looking for his mate, but he found her anyway. Unfortunately for him, Mia isn’t as thrilled by this fact as he. She truly has too much on her plate, to consider mating with someone! To find out if Owen change her mind, and even if he did, will they have their own HEA, you have to read these awesome anthology!
#TheBigAlphaInTown #NetGalley
This is a great group of Shifter stories for everyone, a bit of different shifters. We have Bearing His Name when a Bear Shifter gets a human woman pregnant all of the single Bear shifters try to figure out who the daddy is but when Ark meets Jade the sister of the pregnant Ruby he knows he has found his mate. Problem is convincing her he isn’t the baby daddy.
Owned by the Lion, when Ally signs up for a Shifter dating site to get money for her moms cancer treatment she gets paired with Keir a womanizer Lion Shifter that has had so many women they can’t go on a date without seeing one. No Need for Love, Mia is a wood nymph who needs to get pregnant to earn her place in charge of her group but when she meets Owen a werewolf she finds out they are mates. Mia can’t get tied to ant man or she will lose her independence but her father has decided to war with the werewolves. Who will Mia side with her father or her mate.
Reviewed on behalf of Once upon an Alpha
I read this first book Thanks Fur last Night so was tres excited to get my hands on this! Great mix of three separate worlds in one fantabulous book.
Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais – When Jade sets about blackmailing Ark and his family, who she believes impregnated and then abandoned her sister, she does not count on Ark searching her out..or that he’d make things really complicated and tell her SHE is his mate!
Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden – Take one best friends little sister, add one hot lion shifter boss and you have a great story!
No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter – Owen’s pack moved to the idle of nowhere, Idaho to ensure they didn’t have any territory wars with other packs. Pity he didn’t know about the Wood nymphs nearby who have claimed the very same land!
Loved these. Great way to dip back and forth between the series. Great writing, witty dialogue and great action!
All three are great stories where the Alpha males have to put an effort into convincing their mates how much their females mean to them. Lots of action, steamy times and humor make these very enjoyable to read.
The Big Alpha in Town has three full stories by authors Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden, and Kate Baxter. I am going to focus this review on the story I loved the most, but they are all great stories. I just loved this one more because for me was the first time I have ever met a werewolf/wood nymph combo.
The three stories in this anthology are
Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais
Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden
And my favorite No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter.
No Need Fur Love has the characters, Mia, a wood nymph and Own a werewolf. Each needs something from the other. Mia needs Owen to get her pregnant to get her dad off her back. Wood Nymphs get status when they give birth. She picks Owen because he seems like he will work.
Owen agrees because he can sense Mia is his mate. He wants to bond with her. But when he finds out the truth will he want to keep her.
I found both characters had flaws but that is what made me love them even more.
The Big Alpha in Town has three great stories in it. I loved how creative and captivating the stories are. I would love to read another anthology with these authors in it. I liked how the stories had a similar theme and it made sense they were all in the same anthology.
Five Shooting Stars
Enjoyed each one!
Because this book is 3 stories in 1 I will rate and do a mini review for each story. First up is
Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais
2 Star
Bearing His Name was just blah for me. I had a hard time connecting to the couple. I didn’t like the plot of the book were Ark might have impregnated his Mate’s sister. I get that it was before he met his mate, and of course he wasn’t the father of the baby, had never slept with the sister. Still it was just a gross start to the story. Ark came off very stalkerish. She would say no 100s of times and he would just act like she never said anything. On top of that Jade came off rude. She would be mean to Ark and push him away, no matter how hard he tried. Then there was that fact that at times this book got confusing. There was some funny parts but for the most part I didn’t care for this story.
Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden
3.5 Stars
I enjoyed Owned by the Lion much more than I did Bearing his name. I liked the plot a lot more. Keir and Ally had good chemistry. Still there were parts that got a little confusing. On top of that the hero was a reformed man-whore. Which I have no problem with. My problem was the fact that everywhere the couple went exes would confront Ally and it was really annoying. Overall I enjoyed this read.
No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter
2 Stars
I didn’t care for this story at all. Owen was very underdeveloped and one dimensional. Mia I couldn’t stand at all. She was selfish and didn’t care how her choices would hurt anyone. The only thing that mattered was what she wanted. More than my dislike for the heroine, is the fact that the book was so short and felt super rushed. I felt no connection at all between the h&h. I just wasn’t feeling this one.
My favorite read of the three was Owned by the lion.
Well worth it for the Eve Langlais story. Also like Ms Taidens but not keen on Ms Baxters.
EVE LANGLAIS – BEARING HIS NAME
Trademark Ms Langlais story with wonderful humour, likeable characters and a story that you don’t want to end.
Absolutely brilliant story that just kept me reading.
Jade sending all those cards to several men was too funny but also quite aggravating if those men had partners and were innocent of playing around.
MILLY TAIDEN – OWNED BY THE LION
Enjoyable read. I always find it fun when a manwhore shifter finds his mate and his horrible ways prove a major problem. Poor Ally, all the hassle she had due to Keir’s behaviour whilst dealing with her mothers health problems.
I really felt like he wasn’t honest in straight out telling Ally she was his mate but Ally basically caved in to him straight away.
This story is a follow on from Josie and Xander’s story BOUGHT BY THE BEAR in THANKS FUR LAST NIGHT.
KATE BAXTER – NO NEED FUR LOVE
Just didn’t like Mia and her deception at all. Found this a weak story with little explanation and a silly end. WHY was her dad doing what he did?
Only saved from being a DNF by Owen.
This story is a follow on from Liam and Devon’s story THE ALPHA AND I in THANKS FUR LAST NIGHT which I enjoyed but did not love.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
If you want action, adventure, romance, and much more, you definitely need to buy this bundle.
Each story is captivating + full of surprises
I totally recommend this collection!
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley I voluntarily read this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own. With that being said this was a fun cohesive anthology by three talented authors. All the three stories held the same feeling, part humor and part suspense. So you didn’t have to regroup after reading each story. These two books were the stars in this anthology for me Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais & Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden I’m familiar with their works and they never disappoint. Plus they know how to bring quirky characters and humor that will have you laughing from beginning to end. Don’t get me wrong No Need Fur Love was a interesting and entertaining read but the storyline just felt rushed to me. Overall an amazing triology can’t wait to read more from all of them.
