In Sullivan’s Crossing, #1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr has created a place where good people, powerful emotions, great humor and a healthy dose of common sense are the key ingredients to a happy life. Sullivan’s Crossing brings out the best in people. It’s a place you’ll want to visit again and again.Dr. Leigh Culver loves practicing medicine in Timberlake, Colorado. It is a … again.
Dr. Leigh Culver loves practicing medicine in Timberlake, Colorado. It is a much-needed change of pace from her stressful life in Chicago. The only drawback is she misses her aunt Helen, the woman who raised her. But it’s time that Leigh has her independence, and she hopes the beauty of the Colorado wilderness will entice her aunt to visit often.
Helen Culver is an independent woman who lovingly raised her sister’s orphaned child. Now, with Leigh grown, it’s time for her to live life for herself. The retired teacher has become a successful mystery writer who loves to travel and intends to never experience winter again.
When Helen visits Leigh, she is surprised to find her niece still needs her, especially when it comes to sorting out her love life. But the biggest surprise comes when Leigh takes Helen out to Sullivan’s Crossing and Helen finds herself falling for the place and one special person. Helen and Leigh will each have to decide if they can open themselves up to love neither expected to find and seize the opportunity to live their best lives.

Characters touch your heart, story is engaging and very entertaining.
Very predictable. Not her best.
I love this story and continued the series. Lovely stories of families and love with some unhappiness but mostly happy outcomes. Recommend for relaxing reading
With anticipation.
Great series!
Easy to read beach book.
I love all of Robyn Carr’s books
This was the story of bar owner and Rob Shannon and Dr. Leigh Culver. I’m not a fan of the accidental baby trope, but I got past it with the supporting characters in this book. The secondary story of Helen and Sully was wonderful. As always Sully is my favorite character. EVERYONE needs a Sully in her life. The interplay between Sully and the different roles he plays in each characters lives is just perfect. I was annoyed then happy when Helen finally let Leigh have it. That was pure writing from the heart.
Fantastic series in books. Finding love at any age is so special. Loved this book.
I’ve read Robyn Carr for many years now. Each book takes me to a place that feels like home. The Best of Us is no exception. I loved that Carr added in a romance of an older couple as well as the main romance of a single dad of two teenage boys to a doctor that isn’t looking for love, but can’t pass it up when she finds it. A great addition to the series!
Any book by Robyn Carr is perfect. My favorite author.
A wonderful escape from life to Sullivan’s Crossing with some new and old friends!
Book in series good author.
Love her books
Wow…just…wow. Just when you think there isn’t anything else to know about Sullivan’s Crossing and the town of Timberlake, we get another fabulous story! TWO happily ever afters or is it three?
Leigh and Rob, the doctor and the pub owner in Timberlake. Helen and Sully, a bestselling author and the owner of Sullivan’s Crossing. Their trials and tribulations leading to satisfying HEA’s, with lots of heart and drama and, ultimately, love.
This book is full of surprises and allows the reader to get back ‘in touch’ with the other couples that have been in the previous books in this series. This is certainly a stand-alone, but why cheat yourself out of the hours of wonderful reading you can have with the other books in the Sullivan’s Crossing saga? Get them all and binge read! You’ll be glad you did.
This author never disappoints.
Robyn Carr always delivers a good story.
Always love Robin Carr stories. Love escaping into her towns and families.
I always love Robyn Carr’s books!
4.5 Stars
I’ve been a fan of Robyn’s work since I discovered the Virgin River series which was several years ago. I picked up What We Find and was captivated by the inhabitants of Sullivan’s Crossing and Timberlake, and continued with Any Day Now and The Family Gathering. The Best of Us can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the previous titles as they have interconnected story lines and the characters stories continue to grow and develop with each addition to the series.
I highly recommend Robyn’s work to anyone who loves a heartwarming small town romance with strong these of family, friendship and community.
The Best of Us features three couples of different generations at different stages of life finding love.
Leigh is a newer resident of Timberlake, the town doctor who runs the urgent care clinic. She’s independent, and once bitten, twice shy when it comes to love. The last place she expects to find love is with Rob a widower, and single father to two teenage boys Sean and Finn. Rob owns and runs the town pub. He’s such an endearing character. Sweet, kind and a loving father who will do anything to support his sons. His younger sister Sid, was the heroine of The Family Gathering. The chemistry between this pair is undeniable, and just oozes off the page.
Helen is Leigh’s aunt, who raised her as her own, after the unexpected death of her younger sister. She’s a retired teacher and mystery writer, who comes to Timberlake for the summer, and unexpectedly finds her own romance with Sully. Helen is independent, accomplished, and driven. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to share her opinions. Sully is a constant in each of the previous titles, and owns and runs the Sullivan’s Crossing camp ground.
Finn is Rob’s eldest son, who is experiencing first love with Maia, who finishing their senior year and preparing to head off to college. Finn is kind, caring, compassionate and thoughtful. This pair face challenges that would confront couples much older, and they both show strength and courage beyond their years.
I thoroughly enjoyed this title and the opportunity revisiting characters who appeared in the previous titles and will be eagerly awaiting Robyn’s next release.
I devoured this book. I started it at Christmas time and I read it almost straight through. I couldn’t stop, I couldn’t put it down, and I just had to know that everyone ended up happy. I was invested in the characters relationships, I wanted to be part of their loving family, and I needed to know what was going to happen with them.
While this is Leigh and Rob’s story I loved that it was Sully’s story also. Sully was in need to his happy ever after and this was written perfectly for him. I love his wit, his sense of who he is, and the fact that he didn’t let the Helen sway him from what he wanted, which was her. He knew that he was older and that his life was slowing down but he was willing to do whatever it took to keep her happy and with him.
Rob and Leigh’s story is a hot, slow-moving romancing. The heat is scorching but they take the relationship part slowly. Neither is ready for marriage but they both realize that they have to commit to each other to make it work for them. While they are in different places in life together they are perfect. Rob balances out Leigh’s need for control and Leigh gives Rob some fun that he much needed after raising his two boys alone.
The Best of Us is the perfect, loving romance story. The characters have real relationships with family and friends.
