The best of small town romance!
Nona Fanning’s marriage ending terribly. She longed for a marriage as picture perfect as Patrick “Trick” Wanderly’s. After Trick’s marriage imploded and he found that his marriage wasn’t as perfect as he thought, he didn’t think he could start over.
After one HOT night with Nona, Trick felt he was moving too fast and told Nona so. As she “frosted” him out of her life, Trick realized what a huge mistake he made. Nona was not only an awesome mother to her 2 children, but she was “everything” Trick wanted in a partner. As he fought to get back with her, Nona’s ex-husband’s showed that he was truly a horrible man.
As danger came to Nona and her family, Trick fought to keep them safe.
I loved how Nona and Trick found their HEA with each other. I loved how well Jessica Prince wrote their love story. I loved how they finally found each other and how they completed each other. I loved how Trick treated Nona as she was the love of his life. I can’t wait to hear how their lives will continue in the upcoming books.
4,5 stars
‘The best of me’ is the third book in the ‘Hope Valley’ series. Just like the previous books in this series, I enjoyed this story very much. This series is becoming one of my favourite ones and I’m sure that I will reread them in the future.
This story is about Trick and Nona, both are divorced and both have two children. Another thing that they have in common is that they gave their previous partner their all but it didn’t save their marriage or made their ex-partners love them more. But where Nona has moved on and is ready to open her heart to a new love, Trick isn’t ready for that or so he thinks… Because the moment that he realises that he is ready for a new love, especially for Nona’s love, he has lost his chance with her. So now, he will have to fight to convince Nona that he wants her and her love.
We met Trick and Nona in the previous books so they weren’t ‘new’ characters to me but it was lovely to get to know them better. Because both characters were just great and I adored their children Blythe, Tristan, Hannah and Shaw. It was wonderful to see how the children interacted with each other and their parents. Personally, I found this story the sweetest of the series so far, because it wasn’t just about the love between Trick and Nona but also about their love for their children.
The story is told from both POV’s. One of the things that I really loved about Trick was his thoughtfulness to Nona, his gentlemanly ways and his very protective side towards his family. Nona was a strong woman when she needed to be, who worked very hard for her family but she also had a very warm and gentle heart. I loved that. ‘The best of me’ is a sweet, fun, emotional story. You don’t have to read the other two books to read this one.
I can’t wait to read the next story!!
(Just like in the previous books, there were again a few edit mistakes in it but only a few. I didn’t mind them.)
A new steamy, single-dad standalone romance from Jessica Prince.
A new steamy, single-dad standalone you don’t want to miss!
I’ve been waiting for The Best of Me- and Trick and Nona’s story- since the first book in the Hope Valley series, and it did not disappoint!
I loved how devoted both Trick and Nona were to their children. Their kids were their top priority, and you could ssee that by how well-adjusted they were. I understood many of Nona’s insecurities and Trick’s doubts, but I loved how they managed to set each other at ease.
I definitely recommend reading the Hope Valley series. While The Best of Me is a standalone, I would recommend reading them in order so that you have a better understanding of all the characters.
I love reading about the community of Hope Valley. It is one of those places that has old friends who aren’t afraid to welcome new ones, humans who are willing to help each other out and good old fashioned romance. What I also like about this series is that we get to revisit with characters we’ve already met.
THE BEST OF ME is the third story in the series and can easily be read as a stand-alone.
The H/h in this story both have some serious baggage (and seriously cute kids) from previous marriages so we don’t have to wade through a lot of “does he, doesn’t he”. She is strong enough to express what she wants (with angst, of course) and is comfortable with who she is. He is hot a/f and is a gentleman.
This author has always written well developed characters and this story is no different. There were a few things happening that I didn’t agree with (this is a spoiler free review, so I won’t say what) but I understand why things happened.
I definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.
I loved Nona and Trick and all their kids! Jessica Prince writes such great romance and I love that this series is slightly older couples. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star from me is the excessive use of endearments. I love a well placed “baby” or “honey”, but I felt like there was 3 or 4 on each page.
Another fabulous small town romance with so much love, friendships and some awesome kids. I loved everything about this book! Trick and Nona were both put through the wringer with their exes so I was so excited to see them get their HEA with each other, however their journey definitely had some bumps along the way.
Based on the snippets we get throughout the prior books in this series, we know Trick has been going through some tough times. He was devastated with end of his marriage and he has not been in the best place these past few months. With his head still a mess he hurt Nona when he was caught sneaking out her bed after an incredible night. However, it did not take him too long to realize his mistake. He immediately sets out to repair the obvious damage he had inflicted. Even after his horrible actions towards Nona,Trick is actually an amazing man. He is a wonderful father, a great friend, and a true protector.
I absolutely adored Nona, she too is an amazing parent to two great kids, and her views on life was truly inspiring. She is beloved by almost everyone in their community, she is strong and has built a wonderful life for her family. And she has experience with knowing a good man and one who is not. So she was truly heartbroken by Trick’s actions and it took a bit of time to finally give him another chance.
Their new shaky relationship is put through the test with the re-appearances of both exes. But with the community rallying for them, a seemingly smooth blending of families and also with Trick’s natural protective instinct, their happily ever after was inevitable.
The Best of Me is a fantastic addition to a wonderful series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Now counting down for Gypsy and Marco’s story.
Hands down, best couple and best book of the series thus far! I want to be Nona. I freaking loved her character. Strong female! Trick…..yes, I love him too. These two are just perfect once Trick gets his head out of his behind. Don’t worry readers, it doesn’t take him too long. Then, you can just follow their story. There is a bit of angst, but not really between Nona and Trick (which I love). There is nothing bad to say about this book. The storyline is very interesting and keeps your attention. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger, but you know one of the gang has a book coming up! I can’t wait!
This series had me hooked from the beginning and I just can’t get enough of these characters! Awesome banter and all the feels. This book got me at the start when Nona and Trick (Great names!) were finding their way. The rocky road they navigated to the suspense that I love in my romance books. I couldn’t put this book down! I am ready for the next and to find out what new drama can be found in Hope Valley!
Finally Trick and Nona!!!!!!!! These two were sniffing around each other discreetly because they were both divorced parents of two kids. They had a lot in common and Trick seemed to be in love still with his ex-wife. But that wasn’t all true. Trick just didn’t trust his heart with anyone anymore until his beautiful friend Nona. They didn’t want to cross the mind but it was something that unexpectedly happened and then it died. But then Trick came to his senses and all kids approved which made it a win-win. Of course they were obstacles and heart stopping moments but this book was awesome. Don’t forget the awesome group of friends and of course another great read.
This was a great read! The writing flowed well from start to finish, and I LOVED Trick and Nona together. They had great chemistry, and I felt like they really complimented each other. Trick had to earn his way back in Nona’s good graces, and I felt like he did that well. He showed Nona that she deserved better, not only for her but her kids. Chris was a horrible person, and I was so glad to see him get what he deserved. I was happy to see Emma come around. The ending was sweet, and I hope to get updates on them through the rest of the series!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
The Best of Me Book 3 Hope Valley By Jessica Prince
5 Stars
Wow! What an incredible addition to the series! I loved it so much! I fully enjoyed it! Very well written! Very beautiful! Sucked me right in until the very end!
“What we had was a memory. I was in love with Nona. She had the best of me. The pieces I thought would never heal, she’d put back together.”
“How it was possible that I was lucky enough to have a woman as incredible as Nona was beyond me. But I wouldn’t question it. Instead, I’d just keep counting my blessings.”
Highly recommend this and the whole series! Sooo worth it!!
Oh my… I’m still trying to cool down from the amazing, sexy, swoony, hot AF chemistry between Trick and Nona!! Wowza!
I knew from the brief snippets of them in the other books in this fantastic Hope Valley series, that the romance between Trick and Nona would be epic and it truly was!
I loved how they both needed to get over the pain of their past relationships. That they both needed to truly realize that they were ready for more—ready to be loved and cherished like they deserved. And man oh man, did they love and cherish each other.
Now, of course it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. Nona and Trick’s ex’s are pieces of work—more like pieces of trash in Nona’s—and both ex’s didn’t make it easy for Trick and Nona to move on. But with some serious matchmaking and nudges from their friends—and their fantastic kids—Trick and Nona finally realized just how perfectly imperfect they were together. And I loved every minute!
The Best of Me is my favorite book so far in this series, but I have a feeling Gypsy and Marco’s romance make supplant it!
Nona Fanning is a single parent that still hopes she’ll find her better half. Patrick “Trick” Wanderly seems to let his conscience get the better of him. This may be a story of a second chance at love but our author shows how frustrating ex’s can be – I’m sure there are a lot of people out there that feel the same. Ms. Prince also takes a chance on creating main characters that are a little older – and I don’t mean those that are close to retirement.
You may not get it right the first time but isn’t it nice to think that maybe the second time around you can have a life that is as close to perfect as can be. You may even see a reminder of what it was like to be a teenager. Nona has a couple of great kids that love her but get a little “worried” when she goes a little overboard – they’ll give you a few chuckle moments. Trick’s kids are pretty good as well but his daughter may leave you wanting to mother her.
The pace of this story was very good. Even when the ex’s had their moments, the story didn’t get bogged down in their drama. Our author knows just the right moment to rein them in and get back to the good stuff. But she also shows that not everything is hearts and flowers the second time around because they don’t want to get their heart hurt again.
Usually I like to have my “treats” nearby in case I like to nibble while I’m reading but this time I took a hard pass. There’s enough sugar between the pages that things are sweet enough. It was nice to see that Trick and Nona didn’t jump right into anything – especially with all the ups and downs. And that carried even into the ending. They want to do it right – you know they don’t want to make the same mistakes. The author created a great ending that fit our couple and I got the feeling of “good things come to those who wait”. And that goes for us too since this series isn’t over yet.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
The chemistry in this story is seriously off the charts hot!!! Trick is the epitome of Hot Cop & when he opens his mouth the charm that comes out makes u fall in love with him. He is beyond charming, you know that sweet southern charm. I was all over the place with this story. I was angry at the idiot ex’s & how much of jerks they were to some wonderful people, plus their kids. Although this story isn’t real angsty, there is plenty of action within. The evil way Trick’s ex was keep me wondering at all times what she was up to. In the she finally stops being horrible & by the end she was somewhat likable. Nona was so hurt by her ex & needed a hea. Omg Trick is amazing! He is protective, charming & sexy. This story was one of the swooniest I’ve read lately. I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.
My favorite book in the series so far! I absolutely loved Trick & Nona’s story!
Trick & Nona both have pasts that don’t want to stay there. They were able to lean on each other and support each other. Trick & Nona were imperfectly perfect for each other. I loved that there was suspense, a little drama, and a whole lot of love.
I can’t wait for more in this series! I adore Jessica Prince’s writing.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
If You still wondering which book You should started to read… Give a shot The Best of Me from Jessica Prince. I’ve enjoyed sooo much this story, specially that’s another book from series – Hope Valley… I was so happy to meet again guys from previous books, and just like with 2 first parts… book 3 is absolutely must read.
Maybe I’m repeating myself, but starting every another book about Hope Valley is like coming back home. Coming Bak to loving and caring family, coming back to the most supportive friends that every human being could imagine… coming back to love, that is the most beautifull and important. Love, not only between woman and man, but between family and friends.
|I felt so excited that I’ll finally know Nona’s story. From first book I was so impatient to meet her closer. … and now I can say that Mrs. Prince couldn’t write her story more perfect. It was sometimes hard, it was sometimes funny… it was very passionate too… For sure The best of Me sucked me in compeletety from the begining. Nona didn’t disappont me, she was as amazing as I thought she will be. Strong, hard working, and proud lonley mothert…What can I say ? Jessica Prince made for her beautifull happy ending.
Trick is soooo opposite to whole menkind this days. His caring, he’s sweet but also he’s pure alpha. He protect people who he loved, because that’s how real man should behave. His and Nona story was beautifull, because they both have broken hearts, and found way to each other.
This book is amazing!!! Higdy reccomendent title !
I’d been waiting for Nona to get her decent man and second chance at the good life, and Trick didn’t disappoint. Sure, he broke her already cracked heart at first, but he knew from the second the first piece of her heart fell that he had to make it right because HE didn’t feel right without her. Trick manages to drag Nona from barely-acquaintances to friends to lovers to HEA masterfully and definitely put in the work to prove that Nona is all he needs and wants for the rest of his life. There was some drama with both exes, but Nona’s surely took the cake (and the plates to serve it on also!) with his mess. Nona and Trick’s story was all that I’d hoped it would be and they both found the perfect love that they so richly deserved.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find myself sort of liking Emma by the end of the book. Maybe she’ll find herself a good story and a Hope Valley man for her second chance at love, too? I won’t lie, I’d totally read that story if she did.
