A good start to a series. Abigail has been travelling the UK looking for a place to call home. Her second last stop is Madrid where she meets a sexy Spanish dude and does the unspeakable she goes to his place after only knowing him for an hour or so. He doesn’t know she’s a virgin and Abigail doesn’t tell him. She doesn’t think she will ever see him again. Then she gets a call from baby brother saying he’s getting married. Last place she expects to see her only one night stand is in LA at the airport to pick her up. He’s her brothers best man. I can’t wait to read more in the series. I received a free arc copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is Vanessa James Best Man series which consists of five books total. I was given book one as an arc copy by the author to read and give my honest opinion.
Book one The Best Man: Claiming Abigail is about a wealthy young lady name Abigail Berke who came from power family her last name alone opens would her because of her father.
However, she did not want anything do with him. They have been estranged for eight years because he’s very corrupt. Abigail wanted to rough it and be a a freelance photographer traveling the world, on her first night in Spain she met restaurant owner Alejandro who I must is a playboy and dog who treats women despicable.
Alejandro took Abigail’s virginity then treated her like whore after the act. She was very hurt and storm. A few weeks later Abigail’s brother call her to invite her to his wedding in California. She told she will come as long as it’s not her dad coming to get her. Something happened when so got lands so he decided to send his best man who was none other than Alejandro all hell broke loose.
The Best Man: Claiming Abigail was a quick read and it was well written I can’t wait to read book two The Best Man: Walk of Shame.
When Abigail meets Alejandro for the first time she is at an unstable place in her life. Working as an Freelance Photographer she travels the world in an attempt to find her place in it, other then to just be the daughter of an famous father.
Alejandro owns a few restaurants around Spain and is a womanizer if ever there was one.
They hook up and part ways almost instantly to never to be seen again.
But faith has other plans…
Other than the enormous cliffhanger I really loved the story about Abigail, her resolution to build her own life and carrier far away from the influence of her overbearing, ever-present father and his influence. Her spirit is adorable. I don’t want to say to much about Alejandro because I wanna see his development in the following book.
I received an ARC copy of this story from the author and am leaving my honest review as always.
I love how dreamy Alejandro sounds but is also self-centered! I can’t believe that Abigail is still a virgin at 24. I love how she went out on her own to make a name for herself instead of being a Berke like her Father! He is a billionaire that owns everything even people. I can’t wait to read the next book!
In the first book of this new series by Vanessa James, The Best Man, Claiming Abigail Alejandro and Abigail meet in Madrid and have a one-night-stand. Abigail has been travelling the world as a freelance photographer. She has an encounter with sexy Alejandro which ends badly, she decides to settle down and make a home in Endiburgh. She recieves a call from her brother that he is getting married and she needed to come home to attend his wedding, but her parents are not the only people in attendance of the wedding that she doesn’t want to see.
Good start that makes you want to know more
4,5
I think that it’s a very good start to this series, mixing a rather deep character, Abigail, raised by a manipulative father, and the character of a Alejandro, more materialist, a businessman as cold in his emotional relationships as in business and whose his family relationships, impacts his behavior.
It’s a total opposition between two representations of relationships: Abigail, photographer who before settling down, travels and meets in Spain Alejandro, a rich restaurateur quite cynical in his relationships, who quickly after having slept with Abigail (for whom he was the first lover), rejects her. But he feels bad for the first time: he understands that his behavior had an impact and that they were not playing the same game. This is a first meeting that leaves traces to both especially when they find themselves together again on the other side of the world. Where Alejandro has regrets, Abigail has nothing but rejection for him.
The story is well written, hot and romantic, the characters are complex and they seem to bring a story rather tormented for the future, especially with the manipulative father of Abigail.
As part of Vanessa’s ARC team, I promised to leave an honest review.
As I read the book, I loved the characters. I loved how the characters stood out with others and on their own.
Abigail is a strong, challenging woman in need of adventure.
Alejandro is a gem. Determined, driven, and a little cold.
Sure, how they met was a little non-conventional but I think they are a great pair.
I can’t wait to read book 2.

Baseline Set For Story – 3.5 Stars
A baseline has been set where we are introduced to the two main male and female characters. We are given an overview of where they each are at today, how they got to this point and a bit of their history. These two intersect in Europe and then go their separate ways again. These two do meet up again for a wedding being held in the United States of America. The tale leaves us with the main female character reuniting with her father after having been travelling for a few years.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novella from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

She goes far away to get away from her past and the situation at home. She meets a hot man and the have a hot and steamy time. Something goes wrong though and it ends early. She goes back home as her brother needs her and guess who is his best man for his wedding. Well that just opens up a whole new situation on top of what she left to forget in the first place. Well written and very enjoyable. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it .
