The story every Le Veque reader has been waiting for…Paris de Norville (The Wolfe) and Jemma Scott Hage (The Wolfe) find love in their sunset years… with each other?!It seems like an impossible suggestion. Paris and Jemma first met in The Wolfe, in a fiery explosion of temper and taunting – her temper mostly because he was taunting. Handsome and arrogant in his youth, Paris was a powerful … Handsome and arrogant in his youth, Paris was a powerful knight, second in command to the great William de Wolfe, and found great sport in taunting a Scots captive named Jemma Scott.
Pretty, green-eyed Jemma was the oil to his water. The fire to his ice. Perhaps the sparks that flew between them at first were those of attraction, but soon another knight had Jemma’s attention and Paris was relegated to a role of both friend and tormenter. He affectionately called her ‘banshee’ and what she called him is not fit for delicate ears.
It was a like/hate relationship for the ages.
The years passed and Paris married Jemma’s cousin, Caladora. They had a wonderful marriage but sickness took Caladora from him and Jemma lost her beloved husband, Kieran.
Missing Kieran, and missing Caladora, now it is Paris and Jemma again in their twilight years as the sparks that flew between them so long ago are rekindled.
Find out how sweet and romantic love the second time can be as two widowers discover that life is worth living again… with each other. Love can be passionate and powerful, no matter what the age.

This is one of the best stories I have read. I love Jemma and Paris in the previous books. Some areas brought tears to my eyes. Excellent story.
I loved this story about two people, Paris de Norville and Jemma Scott Hage, who had each lived a life with a partner they loved. They’d each had children, raised them, and now were both widowed. Their families were bonded together through the marriages of their children and other relatives. They weren’t young, or new to love, as are so many of the main characters in romance novels. But neither was so far removed in time from that first love that they couldn’t recognize the pleasure and excitement of a new one.
They also had years of a love hate relationship that had members of both their families shaking their heads, and more often, running for cover. With the help of a friend to both of them, the two become convinced to forgo the loneliness that often comes with widowhood and age, and take a chance, a second chance for each, on love.
This is a wonderful story, with unique characters, humor, (plenty of humor), and romance. While reading it I repeatedly found myself laughing aloud. I also felt the hope the two had that they could possibly make a life together, and not spend their last years alone or lonely. The characters were introduced in an earlier work by this author, The Wolfe, which is also terrific. Although it’s a stand-alone, and it’s not necessary to read the earlier book to understand it, this makes me want to reread the earlier novel all over again. It’s a thoroughly entertaining read, which I highly recommend.
thank you – loved this late romance between family
I always love Kathryn’s stories try are always entertaining!
“There is always a second chance for happiness…”
If you are a lover of second chance romances, this is the story for you! Loved and highly recommend!
Another love
An exceptional love story of two lonely people who lost their spouses. Never thinking they had anything in common, a white lie brought them together in the later years of their lives. Kudos to Kathryn Le Veque for bringing them together.
With this book Kathryn has brought so much life to Jenna and Parris, in all her books her words takes you back to a time of knights, ladies, stealth, secrets, love and war.
With a scene that throws you into a panic. After the deaths of his wife, Callow and Jemma’s husband and best friend of Parris and William, Kierian. You have a couple, both older both lonely and both with nothing to do to feel a reason to live.
Kathryn, with her magical writing she weaves a story that has you crying, laughing and then getting indignant with everyone that are trying to mess up Parris and Jemma getting together
This is now my favorite of all her books, that as the title says, “The Best Is Yet To Be”…..
This is the most wonderful Best that came for Parris and Jemma.
Thank you Kathryn for writing your wonderful characters and bringing them to life for us so that now we,(your fans) can always go visit with The Wolfe, the Wolfe Pack and all the others. Love your books and looking to keep reading more
Paris de Norville and Jemma Scot have known each other since William de Wolfe went to Scotland and brought Jordan Scot back to England to marry an English Nobleman. As time passed Jemma married Sir Kieran Hage and Sir Paris married Caladora, Jordan and Jemma’s cousin from Scotland. The years together were full of adventure, children, weddings, and the terrible loss of married children and grandchildren. Now, Paris and Jemma were both in the same stage of life. Both have lost their spouse and were trying to find a reason to make the next day better than the last. Neither believed they needed any one to help them through the day and that they would be fine as they were. However, Jordon decided that she would intervene and take this problem on, hoping she could make things better. Kathryn, thank you for providing us with this wonderful, thoughtful and lovely story of Paris and Jemma. I will treasure this read and your creative skill in writing this wonderful creation.
Paris de Norville met Jemma Scott Hage have known each other most of their lives. They meet when they were very young, he was a handsome big blond knight and she was a fiery Scot who spoke her mind and he nick named her “the banshee”. The mixed like oil and water, but it seems there was a spark of interest all those years ago.
Paris and Jemma spouses have both passed away leaving them both lonely and in need of companionship. Who in their right mind would have thought they would be perfect for each other in their twilight years. Everyone though she would just as soon as murder him as look at him. They’re struggling with widowhood, Jemma’s family are struggling with the idea of replacing their father with his best friend. Paris’s family want him to find the will to live again and be happy. A very emotional story for me I lost my husband this year and reading Paris describe his loneliness and feeling of helplessness really hit home with me and the presence family and friends is not always enough to ease the sense of loneliness. A great story filled with love, family and loyalties I voluntarily wrote a review for.
This is one of the best stories I have read. I love Jemma and Paris in the previous books. Some areas brought tears to my eyes. Excellent story.
The Best is Yet To Be
And so it is! I loved this story. What a wonderful end for Paris and Jemma! This story brought tears to my eyes, it made me laugh out loud and had me feeling so so good. All of my favorite people were in this story and I loved having them all come together again. I loved seeing them in their twilight years, love is not dead and you are never to old! Beautiful done!
Paris is really struggling with his life as a widower. Although he has his children and grandchildren there is a huge hole in his heart. He is just so lonely.
Jemma just sits and watches life go by. Her husband died years ago, now it’s just her children and grandchildren that give her a purpose.
This is a very emotional story about the changes that life and love can bring to all of us. You will need the tissues, but will also have some giggles. Family can have very different opinions on what their parents should and shouldn’t do.
Really good fun.
The Best is Yet to Be by Kathryn Le Veque brings together William and Jordan de Wolfe, Jemma Hage, Paris de Norville and many of their children in a book that was so emotionally charged that I was in tears for much of it. Caladora, Paris’ wife has been dead for two years and he is so lonely and in pain that he decides to take his own life. He must be subtle, though, as he does not want to hurt the many he leaves behind. Seeing this Jordan decides that he must be taken in hand and comes up with a scheme to match him with Jemma, who has been alone now for four years since the death of her husband, Kieran, Paris’ good friend. Few of the parties involved or peripherally involved see the sense in this plan-at first-but they slowly all come around.
These are characters we know and love and if a reader doesn’t they can pick up the threads as they read the book. It was emotional and hear-wrenching: Paris deciding to end his misery, speaking for the first time of the possibilities with Jemma, and traveling to speak with the priests. Maybe because I am older, it struck me, these two older people looking for happiness to replace the loneliness, but the misery and then the joy was palpable in a brilliantly written piece by master author, Kathryn Le Veque.
